Curse you Phil for making wood turning look so effortless and beautiful! Im 62 and just got my first midi lathe, a Craftex CX 814, the Canadian equivalent to the Grizzly G0844. I bought a couple of gouges and made a 1/2 dozen different scrapers and skews using some chinese HSS. It's a lot of fun trying to mimic your style, but it's not as effortless as you make it appear! Keep on inspiring us with your artistry, we truely appreciate your talent and contribution.

Turned out great Phil. I see what you were talking about when you mention the dark grain in the Cherry bowl I did. I have wondered about it as well I sort of think wet wood does this to the end grain. That said I did not think the Cherry piece I did was wet. Either way what you just made sure is pretty! Gary
@valeriehenschel15902 күн бұрын
Yup, Gary. Orchard cherry with its green and sometimes pinkish wood loves to move, wet or bone dry. And crack. But the results are usually soooo worth it!

Excellent job sir!!! I love the aroma cherry gives off when I turn it. I have a couple of large cherry bowls that I have rough turned a couple of months ago and the biggest problem is my impatience as they dry. Thank you for your videos. I look forward to the every week!!!

Look up "drying box" or something like that. Several turners use them. It's a simple cardboard box, a small fan and a light bulb if you are in a hurry. Really speeds the drying process. 😀
