From an email sent to friends: A person with hoof trimming skills was part of an effort to borrow a donkey, who would enact the donkeys part in helping Christ and Mary, in a Christmas play. This descendant of the original donkeys needed some hoof work. It waited, very patiently, for the care taken to fix its feet. One by one, the basic care got done. It also reminded me that everyone has important things to contribute to life, there is no "useless" skill or person. They may cook, smile, create crops starting from neglected earth, or whatever it is, but the participation of each one of us makes the world work. Pedicure for Donkey's Big Day

Hey, all I know about livestock was learned at the end of a shovel but this video is a real treat! You worked wonders with that poor donkey's hooves just like a podiatrist would on severely neglected feet. Thank You!

This poor donkey's plight demonstrates the responsibilities we take on when we domesticate an animal. As mentioned in the video, his hooves would never have gotten that bad if he'd been out roaming in the wild. GREAT JOB! I love watching skilled people do their thing.

Letting an animals hoof grow out and deform like this is animal cruelty.
@red-yl9nm4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. How long do donkeys go before they need trimming usually? I know horses is usually every 6-8 weeks. Also wondering if he has any deformation internally from lack of care?

red as an owner of 4 donkeys they are about the same as horses. Like horses they often need a trim every 6-8 weeks but depending on the donkey it could take a shorter or longer amount of time
