Awwww...bless your heart! I know she really appreciates what you've done for her. When you get to a certain age or weight even, it can be hard or nearly impossible to really take care of your feet like this. I know it felt good for her to get her feet taken care of. I can picture her just smiling and relaxing. Keep up the good work!!!

My toenails looked like this a few months back. After hearing you talk about the nail mycosis solution, I bought some nail fungal solution and have been using that regularly as well as switching to nippers instead of clippers. The difference in 3 months is night and day. My toenails finally look normal, have become flatter, less pinched at the tips and thinner with less buildup underneath. Thank you so much for these videos. They have made such a difference in my life and I'm sure in others as well.

Thanks for posting! And thanks to your client for allowing you to. My mom's feet look like this, and she is very self conscious. I can't wait to show her this while I do her next pedi. I think she will find solidarity. Having said that, I'm a licensed Cosmotologist. I came here to say the above, and to compliment the work of the Meticulous Manicurist. However, I am floored by all the "glove" comments, and feel compelled to say that these comments are the reason that beauty culture licensing exists. Gloves were the last thing on my mind. With proper sanitation, hand washing, and knowledge of communicable disease and disorders of the skin and nails, you would know that gloves for this woman's pedicure aren't necessary, can impare the fine motor skills of the manicurist, and can make your client feel uncomfortable or self concious. Great video! Thanks again for posting!

I have had my nails done for more than 25 years in MANY salons, both high end and cheapy ones, and never in my life have I had a manicurist wear gloves. Ever. And I doubt any of you complaining have, either. As a matter of fact I have seen and heard that you shouldn't wear gloves because it inhibits the fine work. Plus how the HELL do you give a massage wearing gloves??? Do hair stylists wear gloves? Massage therapists? Facialists? No. None of them do. So stop your namby-pamby whining. Anyway, thanks for this video, I work with the elderly and we have a stylist and manicurist come in to work on them. I am going to pass this along to her.

Karla Navarro that just isn't true. Were you trained in California? You don't work on a client with a communicable condition but you also definitely are not required to wear gloves.

Before I went on to study criminal psychology, I did the whole beauty school etc, and my school had a working salon. A lot of our clients were older men and women who couldn't afford proper salon prices, and quite a few girls in my class would start with the BS the second the clients left the room. So hats off to you for doing this without gloves. The older generation deserves such respect xxx P.S. New sub :)

You need to be a licensed Nail Technician. You can look up local Cosmetology Schools and find one that offers a nail tech program. The program should be 4-5 months. After completing the program you will need to pass the State Board of Cosmetology exam in order to become licensed. Best of luck and God bless and keep up the good work ;)

Thank you for putting up this video. It was very informative and well put together. I am a Holistic Therapist and I only wear gloves during the examination part of the consultation during a Reflexology treatment. Feet are thoroughly cleaned with a surgical cleansing gel before any work is carried out. You are a professional Manicurist and you are very very good at what you do. Please ignore these nay-sayers as I know what you are doing is right- I mean if you saw a person with an infected foot or a fungal infection you would advise them to see their doctor to get it cleaned up be fore you even touched them, as I would too. And what you say about germs being on doorknobs and peoples hands is very true. I can't understand why people are giving you a hard time about wearing gloves during a pedicure. This is unfeasible as your grip on instruments and wet feet would be risky to the client. I myself would gladly be a client of yours if I lived near your business. Greetings from the UK.

Yes it is like the other nails but strong n firm and i also experience breakage too. I do have long nails. thank you very much for this video. i have to do my nails myself, i am elderly, and it is so hard getting to my nail as i have a weight problem, when you are older, the weigth has become such good friends they are not willing to leave, so that is also why i find it difficult. when you were young, your feet were slim, toenails soft, easy to cut. now feet like the lady whose feet were shown. nails as hard as rocks. and no amount of soaking, softens it enough to cut. on my gooddays yes it goes quickly. and then you get those days where toenails have amind of its own. please what can i use to soften my toe nails. i live in a small town in germany, so everything must be bought in the chemist, which comes out very expensive. so if you could please recommend a cheap alternative, i would appreciate that. thank you. i find your video and the way you explain very easy to follow thank youso much GODBLESS.

for clarification you do the foot bath with the polish is on? Can you reduce the hypanicium?
@brookecook96687 жыл бұрын
I started just filing toenails I felt more comfortable filing on elderly clients, especially those with diabetes. One slip could cost them their toe, or possibly their entire foot. I was never willing to take that risk. I didn't see anyone mention filing so I thought I would put it out there. I would remove the polish, file the nails, then put them into soak. I normally did mini mani's, and pedi's as a package deal, so while their feet were soaking I would do a mini manicure or polish change for them.
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
That is an option for sure, but it will be very time consuming filing the growth of 4 to six weeks compared to refining the free edge after shortening with your implements. And the chance of cutting them with the file is then higher because you are spending so much time going back and forth. Infection of a neglected injury is usually what causes issues for someone with diabetes because they can't feel the injury. Always ask diabetic clients if they have neuropathy. But do what you are comfortable with always. Utilizing your time while a client is soaking is always the smartest thing to do, time is money, good job. Thanks for watching :)

Great tutorial. What is causing the big toe toenail to curve so much? Is there a way to fix it?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
My theory is...the growth pattern in the matrix, where the nail is produced, changes due to damage. Probably years of pressure from the shoes. The rate of speed, of the cells in center of the nail, is faster than the cells on the sides of the nails. If they were growing at the same rate of speed the nail would not curl. So if my theory is it possible, there isn't a way to physically fix it. You can only control aesthetically how it looks. Thank you and thanks for watching maybe you could share my channel do Any social media you might have so more people can find me. Have a great day :-)

I'm so sorry you haven't found a reputable salon. Don't go to a nails only salon, they don't give a darn about your feet. Look for a full service salon that offers nail services. @meticulousmanicurist6 жыл бұрын
They hyponychium is the skin that is attached to the back of the nail and it should be there. So if yours is high you will have to leave your nails a little bit longer, if you cut the nail too short you might cut the skin or it will hang out past the nail. A fungal nail can be detached from the nail bed and you can get stuff stuck underneath. Or depending on which microorganism is invading the nail plate, the nail plate can just become thick and crumbly. The nail will be yellowish and the discoloration will not go away when you buff the surface of the nail.

You are one patient person! I would have pulled my hair out a long time ago with all of these "experts" and their rude comments. I'm a nail tech- have been for 6 years. I love performing pedicures especially for elderly and diabetic clients. I would much rather them come to me than go to a discount salon that is not taking their special needs seriously. I never wear gloves. If someone has a reason that would make me wear gloves- that means they shouldn't be getting a pedicure. I wash my hands with soap and water after every pedicure and have never had an issue. People get pedicures and the tech takes their gloves off before they massage and polish... but that's okay with them? They might as well have never put them on. Anyhoo! I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing

You are 100% correct on every point! 😍 I do get frustrated and what I reply isn't the first thing that crosses my mind 😂

This may be an ignorant question, but why do some toenails have these problems with yellowing and becoming thick and curled?
@Biedronecqa8 жыл бұрын
I agree, you absolutely should be wearing gloves even if just to protect your own polish.
@meticulousmanicurist8 жыл бұрын
In addition to my above comment, there are many other reasons a nail technician will not wear gloves so they can do there job easily and meticulously. Here are just a few reasons. You are hindered in your movements when you have on gloves. When you are the person giving the service you want the client to enjoy it, it is imperative the service feels good for the client so they return. The massage does not feel good to the client with gloves on. And I wear gel polish that is not affected by chemicals.

, I understand it is difficult for you to understand that there are rules and guidelines put in place by the State Board of Cosmetology to follow in order to maintain patron protection. Wearing gloves is not one of them. There is no harm that will come to the client or the nail technician when they follow the rules for sanitation, disinfection and sterilization. These rules are followed for the equipment, implements and hands. There are also guidelines in case someone were bleeding, which in very rare. My practice is more than hygienic and I go over and above to insure my clients and myself are not exposed to harmful pathogens. There is so much to learn in regards to technique in my videos. Even if you can't accept I will never wear gloves hope that you will benefit from watching. Have a great day.

I think in Germany no one would ever come back to someone who doesnt wear gloves. me too. i dont want the fungus of the person that had a pedicure before me. I dont know if its a rule to take gloves here but i never saw someone doing it without. but I know a pedicure is f.e. in america often more of a thing that you do with friends together on a beauty day etc and more a comfort thing. here is a completely different focus in the foreground. I looked at your equipment on another video an for me this are things everyone has at home. never saw a pedicure without a special mashine to take off dead skin, grind the nails and remove the horne skin. can not understnad why someone gives money for this except older people that can not do it their self anymore. nothing against your work but it illustrates the difference so much against my imagination a pedicure and how its done here. sry for my very bad english.

+Kei Ner Thank you for staying your option. It is important for you to understand that fungus, germs, blood born pathogens etc. are not spread by the technicians hands. They are spread by contaminated implements and contaminated pedicure tubs. It has been proven over the years that people who wear gloves to protect themselves are not concerned with making sure the client is protected and insuring they follow the appropriate guidelines to maintain proper sanitation on the equipment and tools. Fungus is the least harmful thing you should be worried about contracting. Warts are the biggest problem of people spreading here by negligent practices. Here is the U.S. people take the care of their feet serious. It is not just a beauty day with a friend, but if someone has a problem that needs to be "grinded with a machine" they should be seeing a Podiatrist and not a nail technician. That would be outside the scope of a our profession and we would charge much more if requires to do that.

Do you have any suggestions for schools? I am very interested in becoming a manicurist.
@meticulousmanicurist6 жыл бұрын
It just depends on your area. Do a search for Cosmetology Schools and ask if they do a Nail Technology course. Some schools are cosmetology only :( When I went to school I had to drive almost an hour away to get my education.

What is the hypanicium? (Sp) I think that is what I have on two of my toes and my manicurist tells me it is fungus but what I am using has not made any difference.
@MsVormes6 жыл бұрын
This appears to be toenail fungus which can be cured with Lamisil drug but could hurt the liver. I cant use nail polish as I am allergic to it, but it sure does make the toenails look better. Great video.

What do YOU do to protect your nails from her issues?
@meticulousmanicurist7 жыл бұрын
She does not have any issues on her toenails or feet that I need to be concerned with. Before and after every pedicure I sanitize my hands and use a hospital grade disinfectant to clean the pedicure tub.

OMG, don't you love when people know nothing of your profession yet tell you how to do it? Do these ignorant commenters tell there doctor how to treat them? How many time did you actually have to defend your job on this video alone? Im so sorry for that? I'm only 43 and do my own pedicures and must be doing them wrong cuz I have 3 toe nails that are thicker and gets way more build up dead skin then the others. Is there any way I can get my ugly toes to pretty like the others again? And how often should a person get a pedicure before it gets out of hand? I appreciate you taking the time to explain your process. I watched the video to educate myself rather than criticize your livelihood and disrespect your profession. All those have to be right viewers with ignorant comments while needing the forum to be heard don't realize all that negativity they are spewing out all over the internet and the universe circles back around to them in some other way in there life. So the next time you negative nelly's have to deal with another unfortunate or unwanted challenge in your life, you can thank yourself . You get what you give, you reap what you sew, and all those sayings are true. It's called laws of attraction and that's how the planet works. Google it, read the gift or get therapist. Or just stay stuck in your depressing world cuz the positive, good hearted folks like this manicurist and myself a professional in mental health live the benefits of what the universe gives back. Sorry to preach on your page but felt I wanted to defend your good work and so sick of seeing crap comments everywhere I look. ,

+Michelle Riley 😍 Do you have an instagram account? You can send me a pic of your toes and I can give you advice after I see your nails. You should get a pedi every 4 to six weeks. Yes I really wish people would focus on the content and not project their own insecurities of touching people's feet onto me. It's about the service not my hands. Thanks for your support :)

+texfroggygirl That's a good reason for YOU NOT to do people's feet. You don't want to make your clients feel their feet are gross. It's natural stuff and I don't find it gross at all. It is what it is. I love the thought of making something cleaner and tidier.

I do my dad's feet and he has worse nails than those and I don't wear gloves because I don't mind and like you said we shouldn't make the person feel bad about his/her feet and I just love it when he is happy with the outcome and with his beautiful looking feet/nails!

Like the person above said. She probably used a anti bacterial wash/cream before and after doing this. And the women's feet were soaked in warm water
