When he said "don't push it" I believe he was referring to, don't force us to use the state's law enforcement to deal with the civil disobedience. He clearly stated that, that was a federal law enforcement matter. And I agree, the people at the time were on federally owned land. The MP's and federal law enforcement had the right of removing those people. He may have not wanted to intervene because he knew that any action by the state would have escalated to a more hostile scenario.

Yo vi eso en vivo con Independentistas de la UPR en mi apto de Estudiante en SJI! La realidad es que la Marina salio por ese conflicto Inhofe -Rossello en el Congreso de USA!... Lo que nadie dice (LA PRENSA) es que luego de ese careo en el Congreso el Presidente Clinton firmo con Rossello la fecha de salida de Vieques... El PIP listo al fin monto una Marcha en la que todo PR se unio, pero ya la SALIDA estaba decidida y firmada... La Marcha y la entrada a Vieques de la gente comenzo con pocas semanas antes de diferencia, pero la fecha ya estaba acordada y el PIP solo quiso q fuese unas semana antes... (Y se anotaron todo el credito)... Hay que ser objetivo!
