Good quality, thoughtful, analysis. I like how you discuss Sterling's character as well as his obvious football ability. I hope Arteta can bring out the best in Sterling like he has done with Xhaka, Saliba, Odegaard, etc.

I don’t think he’ll ever rediscover his Manchester City form, but Sterling is still an excellent player; at the age of 29, he has a couple more good years of football in him and a move to Arsenal could be what he needs to get back to his best. Realistically speaking, they didn’t need him, it was very difficult for them to sign a proper striker (Ivan Toney is now in Saudi Arabia after no team wanted him and Victor Osimhen has been exiled at Napoli as no team was able to afford his salary) and also in such a long season where there’s so many games in multiple competitions and the schedule is demanding in English football, squad depth is very important. As good of a player Bukayo Saka is, he has lacked a proper backup for years and having a player of his caliber who can play on the right wing means that they won’t suffer a drop off in quality whenever they rest him this time around. He’s naturally at his best whenever he’s a left winger and having someone who can play on both wings whether it’s on the left or the right means that Sterling will be useful for this team in different ways and he won’t be a guaranteed starter, he’s going to start a lot of games if he plays well as he’s not going there to be just a backup as he probably wants to play. He’s very direct as he is great at using both feet he has that ability to run at defenders and take them on 1v1 and he’s an expert at winning penalties and yes he has lost a yard is pace in recent years, he is explosive enough to always get fouled when he’s inside the box and that can help them win loads of penalties. He’s a better option than what they have on the left wing as yes Leandro Trossard no matter what role he has played for this team he’s been scoring goals, there’s a feeling that he’s better as a super sub than he is as a starter, Gabriel Martinelli is an excellent player, he hasn’t been in great form in the last 12 months and having a high level of competition will bring out the best in players that are out of form as that’s what a team needs especially if they’re competing for multiple trophies in all competitions. Having played for the likes of Liverpool Manchester City and Chelsea and playing on teams that have experience in being in narrow title races, Sterling is proven in the premier league and this bodes well for Arsenal having a player that has been part of winning teams before and has that ability of being a game changer and he can be the difference maker for this team in the title race. When he was at Manchester City in the best form of his career, his assistant manager was Mikel Arteta and maybe he could be the one who brings out the best in Sterling at Arsenal and I actually like this transfer.
@lindokuhlengcamu5192 ай бұрын
Ivan Toney is not the kind of striker Arsenal need. Yall need to get off this Ivan Toney crap that makes yall think he is good enough for Arsenal. Arsenal would do better with players like Ollie Watkins, Aleksandr Isak. Players who have pace and can dribble past players.

When i first saw the headline for the transfer . I wasn’t too impressed. But with Chelsea paying most of his wages , and the fact Mikel worked with him . This is a very good deal , not a havertz like transfer . But he will definitely strengthen the team
@tobaepebinuade58302 ай бұрын
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal is a very good transfer. He took a massive pay cut to go there as Chelsea are still paying a large chunk of his wages and if he stayed at the club, he wasn’t going to get any minutes as long as Enzo Maresca was their manager and despite the fact that it’s just a loan deal, at least he’s going to their team with a point to prove. There was once a period in his career particularly during his time at Manchester City where he was one of the best wingers in the world and contributed to their domestic success as for someone who is known for missing big chances and his poor decision making, Sterling had excellent output. I get it, that team had so many players, him being surrounded around the right environment and system allows him to thrive. He hasn’t been able to hit those heights in the past couple of years and he was unable to find his best form at Chelsea and yes he’s the most experienced player in a team full of young players, it’s difficult to judge a player based off of them being in a dysfunctional team where they’ve been signing players left right and center and giving them lengthy contracts and as a result of that this has caused him to lose his place in the England national team where he was once one of the first names on the team sheet and now under the new manager, he never said he was a bad player, he said that he won’t get any minutes as he froze him out of the squad completely.
