Your photo of the underside of your desk says a lot. I’ve been to many shows featuring “fine” furniture over more decades than I care to remember. I’m “that guy”that gets down on the floor and looks up to see what’s “inside”. Its mostly to get ideas “for how things were done”. It’s amazing how much different the fit and finish of what shows versus what’s hidden that there is in many “fine” pieces. I appreciate the care you took with the work shown in that shot.

2:40 for those new to design, don’t mistake room specific applications as a limitation. I love your work, it’s always so beautiful. I really appreciate that you are continuing to make client projects and are producing your videos around those projects. A lot of KZbin makers stop doing commissioned projects and become “content creators” while making things for themselves which I feel takes away from the final project because when we make something for ourselves we are willing to accept something that is less than what it might have been. There are three levels of craftsmanship, in my view, the lowest being what we make for ourselves, the second being a commissioned piece, and the ultimate (but most rare) is something we build as an unexpected gift for a loved one. (Your new bench was made for a loved one; yourself, your shop and your craft.) Thank you for continuing to make things on commission and striving for art and beauty.

Although I'm limited in my income , and time I do get inspiration from creative folk such as you. "Oh Wow! Pedula is on my homepage!" LOL! Repetitive simple to complex. first information then practice with patience? Hearing your creative process with clients and the parameters is reassuring cause my learning and experience has gone in that direction. Wood deserves organic creativity. Glad you have patrons who appreciate what you do, otherwise it's "Spec Pieces?" Thanks for amping up my creative juices. Learned alot from Seth Stem's book on furniture design eg. I'm a woodworker - but I don't make videos of it - I don't know how I've missed this channel before, but here I am, better late than never :) It may interest you to know I've chatted with Paul (Sellers) a few times as he used to be part of our UK woodworking forum group and would have discussions and give advice. I figured you would use much larger sections of wood and carve them out - it was the only real option to get the compound curves while maintaining the "solid wood" visual - glad to see you went for the long splice joint to hide the joint along a grain line, perfect choice. Envious of your shop, mines not as well equipped. Your "1 of 1" situation, even if a person copied a design, yours (and mine) are still 1 of 1, because even a copy will not be identical. Most of my work is 1 of 1's as I get given the same "free reign" on designs with only outlying requirements, how I get there and integrate those is down to me. You're talking about "imposter syndrome" and almost everyone gets it, the people that don't, are generally the ones to be avoided. I've seen and met some incredible makers and every single one gets it, from people like Adam Savage who is a great engineer and "creator of stuff" who's worked for the likes of ILM on the Star Wars franchise, to Jimmy DiResta, that practically started the entire "youtube" maker phenomena, and still has "go to school" moments in his work regularly, decades later.

Young man, I love your work. No epoxy waterfalls or rivers, just beautiful, unique pieces of wooden art!

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. Whoever is the keeper of this lump of awesomeness is very lucky! 😎 Great video as well, keep up the great work.

This project is just hard to fathom for this novice, although many professionals will likely agree. The warm curves are the most visually satisfying and the most tactilly inviting piece I've ever seen.

Hi Nick, Beautiful as always. When the video started and you said that the bends would be difficult, I immediately thought of boat builders who by having the luxury of working with green wood including root buttresses and branches can almost always find the shape they need in nature. The trade off is that it’s rare to get everything from a single tree but because color matching is not a problem, they manage to make some fantastic bent structural elements of their boats. Wouldn’t be nice to have a whole tree milled and dried, branches and all, to see what one could make? Probably never happen, but one can dream. Anyway, a most enjoyable build. I’m awaiting the next one impatiently. Cheers, Keith

Thanks very much. Amazing and inspiring. Please keep annoying those who get annoyed. You're absolutely right about uniqueness especially in this world of disposable cookie cutter furniture. Original creations are rare compared to factory made multiple copies but there are many creators out there and thanks for helping to promote them. I make stuff but don't video it and often forget to even take a photo.

even though i am now retired i really enjoy seeing a fellow craftsman produce something of this quality. don't worry about the hate on domino's, when its a case of how much bread can you put on your families table, then the quickest way is often the best. i spent many years as a one man shop doing commission only pieces. the thought of doing production work scared the pants of me as far as boredom went.

I once did an order for 400 complete bedroom sets for a lodge, as an amateur during normal times, that was a very stressful project. I will do it again for the financial benefits but that might cause a person to loose the love for woodworking.
