I've heard from a friend of mine in the Netherlands that they have a ton of licorice flavors, like in the US we mostly have black and red, but there they have dozens, including "double salt". Could be fun to see that on your channel!
@RantingThespian3 жыл бұрын
Licorice doesn't have flavors. Licorice IS a flavor. What people call red licorice (like Red Twizzlers or Red Vines) is not licorice. Licorice candy is anything flavored with licorce. It is usualy paired with black colors, but can be any color that the confectioner wants to add. Licorice is a flavor extracted from the licorice (or liquorice) plant, and is usually quite intense and (IMO) very harsh and somewhat bitter.

One of the things I love most about the Japanese language is that there's literally only one way to pronounce each character. Unlike in English where we have silent letters, letters that can be a hard or soft sound depending on what surrounds it, etc. If you see a Japanese word that says "ta" then it can only be pronounced "tah." If you see "ko" then it's "koh." When you see a Japanese word spelled out phonetically, it's actually likely to be easier to pronounce than an English word of the same length. xD
@Jake-dh7vh3 жыл бұрын
Pretty true for the most part. Especially when compared to English or like any other Germanic language. Though Japanese does have its occasional oddities, like the lack of a proper distinction between "R" and "L" sounds, diphthongs and omitted vowels, etc.

You seem to be forgetting that Japanese has at least 3 different alphabets, meaning there are multiple ways to write each sound, and it's (as far as I've seen) fairly common for words to mix alphabets (like using both hiragana and katakana together). You wouldn't get upset at French/Spanish speaker for rolling their Rs while speaking English just because that isn't how native English speakers pronounce it themselves. But for some reason Weeaboos act like it's a war crime when someone pronounces Ryu with an English R sound instead of the Japanese in-between L/R sound. If the person is legitimately accidentally completely changing a word due to their pronunciation, then go ahead and correct them. If not, then it doesn't matter. Mune is pronounced like Mew'n, close to moon. The Mune'eh sound is a misconception that comes from the Japanese accent as they wouldn't end a word with the Na sound. So saying things like "coffee house" even become Coffee'a House'oo but that's not what we say. It seems to be brought over from words that are mostly or maybe exclusively from Japan as we seek the pronunciation from a native Japanese speaker.
