Its been over a year and the floor is holding up great. Although this isn't a high traffic room (office/studio) I still have an office chair on wheels that I move around in all the time. No visible wear and the planks have not become unstuck.

Wow! I'm sold. We pulled up the carpet in our rental unit today and found 1971 linoleum which made us rethink our original plan of tiling the whole place. I think this is the product for us. Thanks for sharing.

No problem. Hope it worked out well.

we did these in our bathroom in the spring, we used the Henrys floor primer 1st, then a rolling pin after each section was laid...so far so good, only had one tile separate a bit in the middle of the room, we lifted and put a new one down last week in that area & it's fine now, overall it was quite easy & looks great! thanks 4 the tips, sure u helped some ppl who want to use this product =)) your floor looks really nice too*

Update: floor is still holding up. This is one of the best investments you can make if you're going with vinyl. The interlocking system is nice too, but it's alot more labor intensive.

Glad I happened across your video. I just purchased what looks like the same brand and style vinyl planks at Lowes to put in a bathroom. Your tips will come in very handy.

I just call my daughters to the room as I install these and have them military march on the planks I have already installed, without moving them by sliding. 170 collective pounds of free roller, alright! LOL

So far the wear is good. Its a durable vinyl. I had a pre existing commercial tile floor in that room already. All I had to do was sweep out the dust, and mop the floor to prep it. This tile will stick to most pre existing floors. If youre covering a cement floor, example: an unfinished basement. Get the vinyl floating floor that has the adhesive only on the edges. The tiles float over any surface and just stick to each other.

So glad I found this video prior to starting a project for my DIY home Photography studio. First time with flooring of any kind and these tips saved me a lot of frustration and yelling expletives :) Much obliged!

Ty for the compliment. This floor is so easy that it makes even me look like a pro lol. One word of advice, follow the instructions on starting from the middle of the room and measuring the halfway point. I freestyled it, starting from one wall and working across. The floor did come out nice, but on the edges there were a few issues with planks not lining up 100% and I had to make more cuts. Start from the middle, measure properly and everything should fit in neatly!

Ditto on how important layout is. In my kitchen, I'm laying down the same size Lowe's vinyl planks (different color) and starting them from the centerline of the doorway to the dining room. If the pattern's off there, I'll notice and be kicking myself every time I pass from one room to the other. Thankfully, my measurements show that doing it that way will balance the planks out on both sides of the room. By which I mean I 'll end up with over half a plank on each side, and avoid fiddly skinny pieces next to the baseboard.

what glue or product should i use to stick them back down when they are coming detached ?
@Tipperary7575 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had a terrible time with T square and another ruler sliding as I'm cutting full lengths. Maddening.

Does the can have to contain fruit cocktail or can I use one with mixed veggies?
@Birdibew437 жыл бұрын
Jessy Arenas absolutely not! Canned vegetables tend to not have high fructose corn syrup which is needed for the glue to properly adhere.

how do you place the tiles going into the next rrom when there is a doorway
@jvids85548 жыл бұрын
Any vinyl plank products are a flexible .Peel an stick or direct glue down plank you should have a smooth surface to adhere to. Floating vinyl plank floors can hide some imperfections by spanning over them but they do require you to 1- not build over them 2- you must leave a expansion gap around the perimeter and or any obstacles.Later to be hidden by base board trim and in a door area it can be chalked . You can use a floor leveling mud to smooth out your existing floor before install.( Pretty cheap if you can do it yourself )

just installed this to our house; same brand, different style. How you do keep it clean? It seems like there are different styles, but none seem to work for us?

Is the floor still holding up? I'm about to lay this floor in my living room. The lady at Lowes said the peel and stick is best. I kind of like the interlocking planks though.

Hi there, could you please let us know how it holds now that it's been there for a year or so? Thanks

A can has a rim on it. So using it as a roller will put pressure only on the rim - and that is a very small surface area. I use a rolling pin - yes the kind a mad housewife chases her husband with when her new vinyl flooring curls up - I got mine at Target and it is made of marble and very heavy. It rolls flat across the entire surface - unlike a can that rolls on its tiny rim on each end of the can.
@betsycollins6018 жыл бұрын
You might use a roofing square for cuts.

@DJChris71811 жыл бұрын
Tyler sorry for late response. Since there is no glue to spread and the planks come off clean, I don't see a problem with that. It really depends on the floor underneath I guess.

Nice tips. I'm planning to install mine over existing vinyl floor. Did you use a primer or a glue to prep surface? What I still have to figure out is how to level floor.

Can this be done over a tile floor? It is not a smooth surface
@DJChris7189 жыл бұрын
If the surface is smooth and clean, it shouldn't be a problem. The tiles just stick on.
@DJChris7189 жыл бұрын
If your surface isn't optimal, try a floating floor.
@brownsugaaaCK9 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Do you think an entry way is too much of a high traffic area for the peel and stick strips?
@brownsugaaaCK9 жыл бұрын
Also, it is not an even/level surface. The grout between the tiles are lower than the actual tile themselves. That is what I meant by the surface not being smooth.
@DJChris7189 жыл бұрын
chantel kiana these are pretty good quality, and from what I understand they come in different thickness to accommodate high trafffic. I don't see a problem if you install correctly. As far as the grout, that's usually the case. As long as there is a clean surface for these things to stick to, I doubt it will be a problem. You may want to contact the manufacturer to be sure.

Rafter or "speed" square is even better way to make perfect straight cuts.
@floorguy31410 жыл бұрын
actually, (at 2;10) you are not installing over existing vinyl floor, you are installing over existing old style VCT which which has asbestos in it. most the time. What you don't want to do is cut into the old floor and cause fine asbestos dust whereby it may be inhaled. you can go directly over the VCT but do not disturb it. Great first time job on that floor though!
@DJChris71810 жыл бұрын
Wow good to know. My general rule is not to disturb anything in an old house. I think they used asbestos for everything back then lol. Thanks, I appreciate the comment :-)

A few tips: Garden rollers can be hired very cheaply. If you are gluing, avoid American glues as the safety standards are not as good as the European glues. I was trying to find low fume glue and then I realised everything European is of a very high standard.
