AI says: Keep in mind that most of the time, tiles should begin from the center of the room. This rule doesn't apply to every situation, but it's a good starting point. When it comes to floor tiles, starting from the center of the room will make your job easier, and the tiling pattern will be symmetrical.

I bought this floor for house renovation. I am a newbie when it comes to flooring installation. Where should be my starting point? Thanks :) for the help and boost in confidence
@krislynnbrooke40623 жыл бұрын
So whenever I layed my flooring , I found the center of the room (I used squares not rectangles), and I layed a row all the way across the room left to right , and also forward and backward. ( a giant t / cross ) without removing the paper. This allows you to be able to know if you need to move your center piece left or right / forward or back more to be sure you're not left with to small a piece on any of the sides. Then, I stuck my center square down and I got to work.
@krislynnbrooke40623 жыл бұрын
Also, I rolled my tiles as I set them. They sell small hand rollers , this is how I am sure my tiles adhered to the floor better .

Hey! I am wondering which products you used for prep. I couldn't catch it. Also I am tipping up the carpet in our living room and is just concrete underneath from what I've been told. Then in the kitchen will be over old vinyl, bathroom ripping up the vinyl because there is a crack in the cement and needs to be repaired before putting anything iver it. Is your suggestion to do step by step what you did in this video! Also, after cleaning it and doing the prep I saw you guys walking on it no big deal and making the chalk line and then not recleaning. So my question is, is that okay? Do you have any sections lifting at all it suggestions about that? Lastly(I think) why did you choose to start in the middle of the room? Thanks!
@KomarProject5 жыл бұрын
So I cleaned it with a neutral cleaner, basically any cleaner will do for the most part that you have at home. I sealed it with a product from Behr called low luster concrete sealer, and filled the expansion joint with Henry's patch and level. Both products you can get at Home Depot. After you clean it your good to walk on it as long as your not tracking in any dirt, also the sealer will seal any remaining dirt or dust that might be left over. As for starting in the middle it was because my walls were not square (most walls are not perfect 90*) and I needed to go into another room with it. so I did a chalk like that was square to both rooms. Lastly the floor has been amazing for us. NOthing has popped up or moved even with me dragging heavy machines all over it. Honetly couldent be happier. Hope this helps. Good luck.
@joeythornton44055 жыл бұрын
You really need to do the prep work if not you could have lumps in floor that will show or tear through and most importantly is the sealing of the floor the laminate will bond tighter and last longer! Good luck with it!

Thanks! I will definitely be doing all the cleaning and prep work! I say better to over do something than underdo!

Question, maybe I missed it but since you started in the middle, it must not be dead center middle but instead aligned so when you get to the wall you have the fitment for the planks to perfection (or close to that as possible)? Did you mention that in video or is that common sense? having to vertically shave the planks would be incredible annoying to fit the wall.
@KomarProject3 жыл бұрын
I start in the middle and work out to the wall. Then I just cut about 1/4 off the wall and then that spot gets covered with a baseboard. Dosent have to be perfect on the wall side. Hope that helps

Great video! Did you leave an expansion gap or stick right up to the wall?

hope you guys are well, one question what is the sealent for? cant figure it out?
@eyes2see438 Жыл бұрын
@faustino5916, the sealer is too prevent moisture seeping through the concrete. Also gives good adhesion.

alot more work than it needs to be. i started laying tiles down at the left of the room working my way over then cut a tile in half and start 2nd row doing back & fourth. came out perfect. also didn't use al those chem prior to laying floor. just clean floor good & thats all & still looks great 2yrs later..

kudos2ya37 I’m sure you did a great job. I needed to clean the floor with a degreaser because it was new construction and I had everything from dust, oil spills and paint all over the floor. Just wanted to be sure it stuck because it’s getting a ton of traffic being a work shop. So far it’s holding up awesome and I’m so glad I went with the product. Appreciate the comment and support!!

Well, you might have gotten lucky because cleaning and sealing any concrete floor prior to an installation like this is one of the most important things that needs to be done if you want it done right.

No No...you are right! I used these in my home and that was about 16 years ago. I did use vinyl flooring glue to give it an extra hold. Other than that, I cleaned floors. Simple clean.

Great video. We have vinyl on the floor down stairs and it's just concrete under it but we want to use this kind of vinyl aside from what the builder did when building the house so would we need to do anything else to the floor other than clean it or add anything to it. We are redoing the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and the foyer

Shakena Mincey if you have flooring over the concrete now then they should have sealed it. But you never know with builders. I would throw a quick coat of sealer on it for the vapor barrier. It will help it stick too. Just in case

I read that sometimes dog nails can scratch this. Has that happened to yours? Also did you have any issues with any planks not sticking?
@KomarProject3 жыл бұрын
No haven’t had any issues

Can I place this on painted concrete and if not what can I use to remove the paint
@KomarProject4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Paint actually seals it.

have you ever done steps. I have this same tile and I want to do the stairs but don't know what to do with the edge of the stair.

So my husband and I want to do this in our living room but currently we have carpet. Can I pull it up and place it on the wood underneath? Will it adhere the same?
@KomarProject4 жыл бұрын
It should. You will have to seal the wood first and then place it on the plywood
@brenthunsaker52433 жыл бұрын
can you talk a little bit about the cleaner and sealer purpose? are they absolutely necessary?
@KomarProject3 жыл бұрын
Ya you want to seal the concrete so you get better adhesion
