I have a list I consult daily: dishes, scoop catbox (on the porch), take out trash, shower, sweep floor, feed the creatures 2x, walk the dogs, change puppy pad. I get hyperfocused on projects and forget to do life tasks. I forget to eat most days till nighttime. These are the minimum needed for a functional life for me. Its taken a long time to figure out a working method but life is easier (for now) with my daily and weekly lists. Who knew doing laundry more than every couple months would be easier? I'm glad you are feeling better and adding people/activities that support. Always yours, Gina 🌻🍄

Yes! Work those maintenance muscles! Whiteboard, calendar, phone alarms, whatever it takes. I have noticed that many if not all of my ADHD friends struggle with clutter blindness and cleaning routines, so maybe it's related? Being autistic with anxiety triggers over clutter, I am the opposite, so I can't 100% relate, but I see their struggles and empathize with brains going haywire about things that should be "obvious". You will find the right strategy for you, don't give up!
@Conval-wi5eh

Maintenance is soooo important at the point where Mira is now. With several rooms done (kitchen, bathroom, living room; having started in the bedroom and scrap book room) returning to previous areas and dealing with clutter hotspots is the key. Usually they can be dealt with 15 minutes unlike the first time where it took several hours to climb the clutter mountain. To maintain, we have to deal with small messes before they spiral out of control. That is the core of the magic. And it's so important to pay attention to what is piling up. It's an indication for what we need, where we lack systems or that our current system isn't working. When there are always packages piling up at your door, perhaps you need a small shelf where you can put them (and put returns, too!). If paper piles up, it's time to set up a system for that. I have a small filing cabinet where I can put paper that is currently important but not needed in the long term (coupons, mail I need to deal with, etc.). I find that most homes have a lack of systems for things that need to be stored for a short time like paper, returns, stuff you have to give back to friends and family members and clothes that are too dirty for your closet but too clean for the hamper. Those can pile up quickly and create chaos. Assess what you find in your piles and try to set up a system for recurring categories of items.

My Mom died 4 years ago and to honor her, my brother and I planted 7500 daffodil bulbs along the stream at the cemetery. It brings my joy to see those “daffys” (as Mom called them), come up each year. She loved daffodils and crocus.

I think, knowing your needed accommodations is such a wise thing! I have so many things like that that I’ve just embraced that I need. Bonus after the accommodation that you doing things regularly, then sometimes auto pilot kicks in from the habit being established in your brain . I get migraines and I can’t think but my body will just go on auto pilot doing some of the regular routines. I can’t do anything extra but it’s interesting to see how much the body just remembers through repetition.

I was going to tell you my experience with thread up. Absolutely no shade on you. It’s just my experience. I sent a big bag of clothes and once I calculate out the $14 they charged me for the bag, even if everything sells, I may only make $5. I think I’m going to stick to donating to the needy instead. I probably spent more on gas getting that bag to the post office. Lol. Live and learn. They are making a lot of money on my clothes. As I’m sure they are making money on yours. I’m so glad you are doing better!!! That makes me happy. I need a Bonnie too.

I use several dry erases boards for lists. I fill them up, do the things (It may take a very long time), when the list gets small I fill them up again. Each time I remove an item I know progress has been made which makes me happy. Give your reminder list a try. Even if it is the same list each time it will keep you moving forward. Thanks for the video.

One KZbin channel recommended lists where she underlined the first six (I think) When they were ticked off she could maybe go down to the next one or two jobs. She said it was better to make short lists so that you don’t get overwhelmed with how much needed to be done. Good luck with your journey, we love you 😍 ❤

So happy to hear that you are feeling a bit better. Colt's ear wonkiness surely has a positive effect. I think checklists can be really positive. Even if a job is small and may be not noticeable in the grand scheme, the checkmark provides a visible reminder of getting stuff done. Very excited to see Bonnie and the craft room via some odd camera angles 💖. And as a KZbin watcher from the very beginning of this platform, you are giving OG KZbin vibes. So good to hear that you’re feeling better, and I’m happy that you and Bonnie will be getting together every month. She is wonderful, too - 2 very kind, caring people. Gotta say that Clay and Colt look great, clearly Colt knows he is home. Thank you for the update, it always inspires me to see you decluttering, cleaning, organizing. I want to give you a quick update on my progress. I have completed my 1st time whole house decluttering and have started a 2nd round. I must say that it’s so much easier the 2nd time. And I learned so much the 1st time: No more negative self-talk about failure, no agonizing that I’ll never get it done, etc. I’m going to respect times when I just can’t declutter or can’t decide what or how to do it. I’m going to be patient and gentle with myself and confident that when I’m ready I’ll do it. So, I especially want to thank you, Mira. Your resolve, delightful humor, authenticity, and openness about the struggles and challenges you face has helped me so much to begin to get mine in a proper perspective.

This is why almost every cleaning routine you see will have “tackle hotspots” in the words of flylady. I know exactly what you mean by print feeling like it’s helping. I’m currently bogged down at university with large amounts of Essays and assignments and all time consuming stuff that goes with being a uni student. In the north east of England, spring has sprung, the days are getting lighter, the wether in a morning isn’t as bitterly cold and as part of my morning routine I’m getting up and and going for a 20 minute walk and it’s massively boosting my mood and productivity

You are doing a great job. Something that I have noticed is that you are a surface clutter. If there is a surface, you will fill it. Those are habits that will take time to change. I think something that will help on your hard days is just to do one thing so you can feel like you did something. Grab a garbage bag and fill it on those days with trash and get it out of the house. It won't seem like a lot, but it will be in the end. If you are looking around your house and only seeing the things you need to do, it will make the depression and anxiety worse. One day at a time. One bag or box a day will help the next day be a little brighter. I'm looking forward to seeing what you and Bonnie accomplished.

Yeah 👍💖 a new Mira video is out to watch! Even before I start my daily morning routine at the kitchen doing dishes and preparing my first cup of coffee this video is first 🥇. I missed you and your giggling narrator voice and the dogs and the clutter and the water bottles😊. But wait, there was no water bottle in this video! 😳 No way! 😳 What had happened? 🤣🤣🤣 I'm so glad family and friends are back in your life. And of course your dogs. Give a list a try, mine starts Monday with the living room, Tuesday bathroom, Wednesday bedroom, Thursday floors, Friday kitchen and corridor, running the washing machine, Saturday my day off or for special projects, Sunday writing my grocery shopping lists. As I don't order many things I always declutter the boxes when the delivery arrives. Bringing away the trash (a lot of separate recycling bags) is my daily routine when I leave the apartment. That's what works fine for me. But every routine is very individual and needs adaption, especially as you're living in a house and have two dogs. Take your time and check what works for you best, Mira 💖.

I am so glad you are feeling more like yourself Mira. Great job. We lost our bulldog Riley last week. It’s been tough. I also have adhd and I think we very much feel things more deeply. But we try to mask it and that requires so much energy sometimes. I am also trying to problem solve staying in top of what I call adulting tasks. I also do declutter coaching and have taken some training for that. I also blog about it and my blog is doing really well. That I have finally mastered decluttering is amazing to me and if I can do it, anyone can do it. I work almost entirely with folks with adhd.

So glad you're feeling better than you were! Spring definitely helps, doesn't it? I'm so familiar with needing to have checklists for things that other people just DO habitually, and sometimes I get so frustrated that it's never simple to "just" clean up as I go and take care of things day to day! Working to build new routines seems to take us neurodiverse SO much longer than neurotypical people, and our routines get smashed so easily too. Super thankful for lists and timers to keep me halfway functional. 😆 I'm excited to see the craft room videos when you are ready to post them! And I hope you continue feeling better every day.

Yes I think a white board would help. Make it a daily ritual and it surely will help you keep track of stuff. Great job!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💜
