Colt has certainly brought you some happiness even though he steals your water bottles! Ha Ha! What you could do is punch some holes in the water bottles, then put some small treats in there & put the lid on & let him play. Our 13yr loves this. Some treats might fall out. If not, just open it up & give him a few, then put the lid on again! Our little doggie carries hers around or brings it to us to open. It's so cute when she carries it around. The counter in the kitchen needs decluttering, but it can be handled pretty quickly. The clothes are all washed now.

I have a trash can at my mail box I toss junk mail there never makes it in the house .Can you hang your leashes and keys on the wall maybe between the two light switches ? I would worry about the lids on the water bottles he could choke on them. You can get plexiglass cut to put over your book so he cant get to the books I have this over my three lower shelves I got it at home depot they cut it to fit and I use black Velcro strips to hold it on the front of the bookcase . the cubby at the front door is nice but maybe look for one that is like a set of squares cubes where you can use fabric cubes to keep the puppy out of stuff. I have a new puppy and I have really had to puppy proof again after 14 years. I love your white shelves and tribute to your sweet pup.

I take my mail from the mailbox and stand over the recycle bin while I go through it because that is where 98% of my mail goes.

I think it's great that you redirected instead of just quitting. Revisiting spaces is ok and will be easier to declutter and clean up each time. Idea: Do a little bit of your shirts at a time. Maybe seeing a massive pile is overwhelming. I think i would be overwhelmed. I still think you are doing an awesome thing. Good job, Mira. I'm proud of how far you have come. It was so obvious that it was easier for you to organise/clear the entryway cubbies this time, now you did the first round. You will find this is true for all the other areas too! Yes, they might get cluttered or messy again. But getting back to nice and organised again will be so much easier every time until it is just regularly tidying. 😊

I see a lot of good suggestions in the comments, I just wanted to add something that I can struggle with; if you try some of these systems and find that they’re not right for you, don’t get discouraged! No tool fits every hand and there’s nothing wrong with trying a system and then moving on if it’s not working. I’m so proud of all the progress you’ve made all over your home! ❤❤❤

Maybe you could tackle the t shirts a short amount of time each day? Set a timer for 15 minutes? Also, if you could use a water filter and reusable water bottle, might it help Colt not collect them? I’m so amazed at how far you have come! You cleaned up the cubbies, added the shelves and straightened our boy Colts corner so quickly! So very different than at the beginning , you should be so proud of yourself😊!

For paper clutter, like mail, etc, we have a recycle box outside, right by the door. All the junk mail, and flyers get tossed in right away. They don't even come into the house. It makes a big difference. Keep up the good work, Mira.

Re: water bottles. If your city has toxic tap water, you could buy a pitcher with a filter that goes in the fridge and a stainless steel water bottle. They also make urns with filters inside. You would never have to deal with empty plastic bottles again! Also once you break even from the filter pitcher or filter urn you will be saving money like a G.

Upkeep is as important as digging into the big projects. Colt is a positive addition to your life in so many ways; of course the pleasure and company of a sweet dog, but also that knowing about his impishness is motivation to keep tidy the things you don't want used as a chew toy, like shoes, and the necessity to pick up more often. I love Colt!!!! Man, that puppy energy will really keep you young. We adopted a golden retriever puppy (well, he was 3 years old) after our 16-year-old rescue golden passed (she was also born on Valentine's Day). After living with a senior dog, a puppy was a real eye-opener. LOL Your sweet memory shrine brought a tear to my eye. Great job on the quick declutter of Colt's space, and the entry-way thingy. Those new shelves above it look great!

Yes!!! I have also told her that the next time I'm up there to work on her craft room next month that she better let me take some laundry home to do it for her because I would be offended if she didn't.😂 I usually work consecutive days like a Tuesday and then a wednesday, so it would work out really well to take it home Tuesday night, do her laundry and then just bring it back to her on wednesday. She lives about an hour away from me otherwise I would be over there in a heartbeat to take that laundry off her hands all the time when it gets to be overwhelming.😊

Mira, when making new purchases you may find it helpful to ask yourself "where will this item go once it comes into my space?". If you can't think of a place for it to go then maybe consider adding it to a wishlist until you have a space for it, or possibly not purchasing it at all. This will help to keep your space deculttered, since when you purchase an item it can go to its home straight away. It will prevent items from being shuffled from place to place while you decide where to put it, like you are doing with the shelves you bought. Obviously it takes time to change purchasing habits, but I hope this helps with that process. You are doing great!

WhennI want to make a purchase online, I usually just leave it in the cart for a few days as a cooling off period. After a few days or even a week, you can then reconsider your purchase. If you really hv an urgent need for it, then proceed with the purchase. If not, you may cancel the purchase or leave it on longer for reconsideration. I hv hd many potential clutter or money wasters halted this way.

I've always found it best to just immediately go through the mail. If I don't it takes up space. When I immediately sort I can just dump all my trash mail and go through important stuff later when I can mentally handle it.

Miss Mira: Which ones make you happy😊❤? Which ones are themed 🥸🐶👽🎙️? Make piles if you know you have too many of that theme then say which ones are your favourite ones in that group/box/kpop band? Which ones cannot go out in public as it is damaged or too risque🫣? Do you have a Christmas🎄 and Halloween 👻 box? One per day in the month of December or October? Do you have a shirt that goes with each pair of the leggings you kept👕👖? Do you have the boring ones for outfits where you need a bit more formal layered look? 🎉🥳 Make outfits. If you can't do it with an item then its not going to be worn. I'm fighting severe arthritis. It may take time but paring down your inventory it will be so worth it! It feels so much better to just have your awesome things not everything. 🐼❤ Much love and encouragement!

It's really easy when cleaning out & decluttering to let things you've already done slide. Going back and resetting is the best way to continue seeing improvement. I find going through mail on Sundays helps a lot.

Is there a story why all your pup’s name start with a “C” ? . Have you ever heard of the touch it once method ? Now I do realize it won’t work with the current state of your home but it could work with certain aspects…water bottles, paper trash … take it directly to the bin don’t set it down. It could work with your mail as well. When you bring it in, deal with it then. This method does take an effort to implement … it’s what I do and it does help. Though sometimes I have to tell myself “ don’t put that down, go put it where it belongs”. Trying to keep an organized and tidy home is always a work in progress isn’t it? Keep on moving forward.

Gotta love Cole inspecting Colt's inspecting! My next door neighbors have two toy poodles and they steal and carry their mommies' water bottles around the house as well. What is up with that, Poodles??? Have you considered putting hooks under the shelves, next to the door instead of the cubbies? You can hang keys, scarves, dog leads/harnesses, etc... and it is one less surface to clean and for things to accumulate on. As for mail, I go through it as I walk from the mail box, by the recycling bin and to the door. A lot of the mail is the same crap every week and I toss the usual stuff without looking at it. It just means less things come into the house and it will take less time to go through the rest.

Zero water pitchers are great to save money and save you from ingesting microplastics. Probably about $30 from Walmart and you change it after a year.

Oh Mira your new channel is so wonderful! What a great idea!! Also there is nothing like a young dog to help you keep things picked up! I have a 1.5 year old chocolate lab and I think Colt and her are in cahoots with each other😂😂 she is literally the reason my house stays relatively orderly😂😂 Bully Sticks are the best for chewers, they are easily digested and it gives me a few mins of not having to call her out😂 Here is an idea for mail. Since you are a butterfly I would suggest 2 wall mounted file holders that are close to the entrance you come in when you have mail. One for need to look at but maybe not right this second (bills or important documents) and the second for would like to look at but is not pressing (magazines or coupons) The third thing is a open trash can under the two wall mounted file holders that you can easily throw junk mail away right away. 👍🏻 I have only recently been able to get incoming mail under control and it’s thanks to a combination of Diana K White, The Minimal Mom, and Clutter bug channels. Bullymake dog toys. Katie was the destroyer of all the toys. Not 5 minutes did a toy last once released from all tags/labels. Bullymake toys are made for chewers. Katie had her favorites. She was black lab border Collie mix. When she saw the first toy come out of the box she lit up! Good, worth every penny, dog toys.

Places like that area by the door and the dining table are what FlyLady calls hotspots. It’s where we tend to put things down for a moment but then clutter attracts clutter and before you know it you have an inferno. Hence the term hotspot. The remedy for hotspots is to take 5-10 minutes every day putting things away, trowing away trash and wiping down the surfaces. I’m not always perfect with this but even so normally a quick 5-10 mins helps reset the space.

As soon as you pull mail from your box💌throw out the junk mail. Sort the rest into 2 categories for simplicity purposes... 1st stack is bills and must-dos and 2nd stack is look at later. I stop at the trash/recycle can on the way in from the mailbox and get rid of advertisements and stuff I don't want. The rest comes inside, and bills go in a basket that has stamps, envelopes, address labels and pens. Once a week, I sit with it and pay bills.

My dog Monty (a yellow labrador) is a big chewer and we found the thing he loves the most are antlers, he loves chewing on them and although they are quite pricey they last him well dispite him being a heavy chewer 🥰

My dog is a huge chewer, and we buy hard cheese sticks. You can also put a small treat in water bottles and he can work to get treat out, then replace when done. Good way to use up water bottles, lol 😂😂😂😂😂

What I do with my mail is sort it out as soon as it comes into the house. In fact it doesn’t even always make it into the house. I drop the recycle off at the bin and deal with the rest immediately. My bills are all paid on auto so I don’t have much to deal with in the way of mail so that makes it easier. Plus I don’t work (other than making my KZbin videos) so that makes it easier too. ❤

😮Well, your life certainly has become quite busy with your toddler, Colt. I think he channels you, hence the multitude of water bottles, lol. How do you feel safe taking a nap with such a rambunctious dog? I've hit a wall getting my basement decluttered. To reach items to donate or discard, I must wade through 41 empty totes and totes that need to be taken to another area. The basement isn't really safe for a nearly 76 year old woman with degerative disc disease. Dismayed, I started doing another puzzle, but, alas, not having much luck. When I combed my hair after a shower today, I, too, had to comb out rats.. I tell that to make you feel not so alone with hair issues. You always are the bright spot in my days!

You are doing a great job. We have had many many years experience with poodles and they do have a size complex. Small toys that squeak. You will see them search for the squeaky spot to squeeze, but also they will try to get it out. But beware, you may see flying objects. Good luck, and never give up

Hi Mira, I just wanted to say I love how you read the storybook in the first video on your new channel i.e. not too fast, and plenty of time allowed before turning the pages (plus your lovely speaking voice 😊). Children need time to process what they are hearing, time to take in all the 'information' in the illustrations, and time to match the two together & make sense of it all. 'Storytime' & reading are for slowing down and enjoying, not rushing 😊 📚. A lovely tribute to your mother ❤

Congratulations on the newest member of your "Mira's fam!" I always had Saint Bernards and they are technically considered puppies until they are fully 2 years old. And that was my experience with them. Immediately at 24 months they quit chewing anything and everything. Hallelujah! I went to your new channel "Story time with Mira. The channel is supposed to be just for kids, but it brought me back to how much I used to love being read to when I was a child. I enjoyed hearing you read so much - - even though I am a child of almost 74! (February 19) Congratulations on your new channel and congratulations on your continuing decluttering efforts. You hang in there baby!

That’s true. She is doing the work. It’s not perfect. We are watching Mira struggle, and fight. She is not perfect, but she’s doing it. I hope she isn’t buying stuff anymore 😮that would be a bummer

I must admit I don't understand this type of comment. I didn't buy all this stuff at once. I buy things over time like most people I know. I admit I went overboard, hence my need to declutter and my decision to start the channel. I'm not out here spending hours on my house and then dancing off to spend more money on the type of stuff I'm decluttering. I quit buying leggings years ago and only buy myself an occasional T-shirt, yet here I am, unable to afford a new floor. Also don't mean to be rude.

My poodle mix* is the absolute worst at stealing things. Whenever I clean out under my bed, I find a treasure trove of his ill-gotten gains - underwear, socks, rugs, books, mail, art supplies, etc. I just wish I could train him on this theft stuff so I could take him places and come home with jewelry or something! (*He's a poodle, Bichon and shih Tzu mix, which is apparently called a shichonpoo but I will forever call him a bitchin' shit poo.)

Just the nickname of your dog shows how much you love him. Gotta love them all. I had a shit-zu named Baloo that chewed all the corners of the rugs out of spite whenever he was left home alone.

Colt reminds me so much of my Toby and they are almost exactly the same age. Toby was 2 in June. I absolutely hear you on problem solver pups. I have found a few super chewer toys that help and I'll list them for you. I bet domesticating Colt to indoor life is a whole other level of challenge. You are doing so great!! Keep it up, celebrate those small wins. You bring us all joy. Hyper pet squawker toys Pupcicle Chuck it! Rubber ball - I throw this and he loves to chase it to get energy out. Benebone chews, antlers & Himalayan yak cheese are favorites.
