Okay, this is not the comment you need on this right now, but in your scene on the ground in the lot with the mirror, when your spirit faces were floating away it reminded me of the little animation with the soul when a pikmin dies. Also, very tempted to go through the hallway scene and see if its possible to use what's there to edit out a version where it just looks like you normally going down the hallway. Goodness grijg

Wow, I love finding art. I love hearing people talk about what they are passionate about. I love learning about the visions people have. I have never heard of Eraser Head but I'm glad I watched this first. This was just so cinematic and I really felt your hunger for searching and pushing and exploring art and it was touching. Well done.

The thing with understanding Lynch is that not everything he makes means something on a deeper level, sometimes he just literally throws things out there and leaves it as that. Sometimes I don’t even think he understands it, but as an artist he is definitely tapped into his subconscious and uses that as his muse.

Maybe it was still Henry's perception when it shows the neighbor perceiving Henry's head as the babys head. He perceives that her perception of him is of disgust because of his own low self-esteem. This also would explain why she seems like she doesnt apear to be enjoying the dream she is in.
@Hepyrian5 жыл бұрын
That's actually a really good point! I think that actually makes a lot more sense than stepping outside of the dream, and I wouldn't put it past Lynch to separate into layers like that

Very interesting. It was strange hearing someone else break down this movie, especially the beginning of the film, it's just one of those things where you know something is a certain way for years and then you see or hear it a different way and it feels weird or even wrong to think if could be something different lol. AlthoughI don't agree with most of your opinions about this movie it was really cool to hear someone else break it down and give their theories on it. I think you are definitely spot on with the sound Lynch uses and i do agree that this movie has a lot to do with the subconscious. But the thing about this movie is there are no definite answers, that's just it lol. So really no one can ever be right or wrong, which makes this movie awesome and timeless. It will forever be talked about in every generation of filmmaking. Nice work and nice little short you added at the end, i really enjoyed the faces coming out of your body hahah

Trying to locate this song that starts at 11:50. So I've gathered it's ''Candy Walls" by tr/st - specifically the latter passage - except it isn't the same arrangement, is it? It doesn't sound the same to me. Which version is this Hepyrian? Or have you created your own? In which case, can you send it to me please, from one Lynch devotee to another?

Why do cinephiles obsess with understanding, explaining, or demystifying the films they love? What's worse I rarely find their own projections to be valid, and I very much doubt the filmmakers would either. It's like people who obsess with interpreting dreams. "When you dream your teeth are falling out it represents..." blah, blah, blah. Sometimes the images are nothing more than a mystery. I can't imagine anything less appealing to a filmmaker than having their magic tricks explained, or worse... misrepresented.
@Hepyrian4 жыл бұрын
I actually agree. Since making this video I've really changed my view and approach to things like that. I still like a lot of the ways in which this video explores the way Lynch comes up with ideas as a model to follow, but yea I definitely went into this video wanting to offer a complete interpretation but now I'm actually literally writing a piece basically saying your exact comment. My how things change haha. I hope you get something out of value from this video though

The movie is about his desire to kill himself at the time he wrote the script. Look at his history, the timeframe, then watch the movie again. It’s clear as day
