@@AbbyNormalGarage I’m still shocked that the reinforcing bracket worked like it was meant to be on the left side. Then the right side….what are the chances that hammering the bracket straight would make it a perfect fit? That was crazy

@Tennesseemountainhomestead lol it takes a lot of work usually, the brutes hydro swap was real hard. Had to make new mounts front and back, new belt system, new shifter. That was real hard.

Awesome VIdeo Guys! Don't you just love how back in the day things were a lot more backward compatible. I bet that old trans busted a tooth or something. 820 is a much better trans. Cool thing about your 820 is it has the extension bracket instead of the longer shift rod. Because of that it is even more compatible with more tractors like craftsman which uses a smaller shifter rod. Glad you are going to lock it. I'd hate to see you guys send it up the mountain without locking. Easy to break traction and get out of control. I know you fixed up the 820 bracket for the brake side. My first thought was, "I wonder if the original 801 trans bracket would have worked on the brake side?" 🙂 Love the content! Again, great work! Oh... and those larger tires, more speed! LOL
@Tennesseemountainhomestead3 ай бұрын
@@MightyRaze yes the 801’s 5th gear broke into a bunch of pieces. One of those got dragged under the gear set and punched the hole. I was talking to Rich and he offered to look and see if he had another gear in his parts stash. I probably could have used JB weld or braze and fixed the hole. Only thing is when I opened the case to see what happened, I was hulking out on it with a couple screwdrivers. I forgot about the center bolt aaannnnddd you probably know where this is going. The whole project went surprisingly easy though. For some reason, the belt and clutch system is a lot smoother now! Before the belt would bounce and shudder. 🤷🏼♂️now it’s quiet and smooth. We will be locking the differential for sure. Probably the same way I did my 2300 by adding steel to the axle gears between the spider gears. I didn’t think to check if the 801 brake plate will interchange with the 820, but it probably would, maybe. Gotta look. Right now we are in the process of switching the bushings between the old and new Murray front wheels. So I can mount the 19” SunF tires on it. Should look like a little monster truck. And as for speed, that thing is probably the fastest tractor we have. My 214 might hang with it because I can run higher rpm. But the Murray still would outrun it.

@@MightyRaze there was no transmission bracket on the brake side of the 801….either it was removed before we got it or there wasn’t one from factory. I’d guess it was removed. Maybe that’s why stuff kept going wrong with it because it was flexing ?
@MightyRaze3 ай бұрын
@@Tennesseemountainhomestead I should have been more specific. :-) I meant the lone bracket on the front of the 801 switched to the brake side. But what you straightened out will work great!!👍

Although ive wanted a mud mower for a long time still havent gotten around to doing building one. In inspiration to Fearless Front i have multiple Sears i could build and a murray widebody and a murray square body as you have in the video
@Tennesseemountainhomestead3 ай бұрын
@@trailerparkgarage6574 pretty much just to get started you know all it needs is to weld up the differential and throw on some mud tires. I would definitely do up one of those sears especially if they have horizontal drive shaft engines. I’ve already built several Mud mowers and I definitely prefer the garden tractors over the lawn tractors, because the garden tractors are much more heavy duty out of the box. Except the 111 that thing is built very tough from factory. That Murray square body. My son has needs to be beefed up all the way around like next weekend I need to do something about the steering because, it might as well be made of glass. But I’m definitely interested on meeting up and going for some rides maybe doing some videos
