Boz Scaggs is just phenomenal! This song was originally released on the Silk Degrees album in 1976, one of his best albums. Each Boz album is different, some more soul, some blues, some rock, some disco, just a great lifetime of work. I highly recommend checking out more Boz, especially the album "Some Change," but you cannot go wrong picking any album (except "Other Roads," that was an outlier for my tastes).

Silk Degrees came out in the mid 70's and gave Boz his most successful run of hits, merging disco, funk and jazz sounds in ways we had never heard before. As others have already recommended, Lido Shuffle needs to be reviewed. Also, one of my favorites of the day - What do You Want the Girl to Do? The album is great top to bottom, even songs never released a singles. For unique sound and not a miss in the bunch I place this album in the rack with Van Morrison's Moondance.

Boz, his real name is William. He is first and foremost a bluesman. This studio album "Silk Degrees" is more or less Toto with Boz as the singer. David Paich, Jeff Porcaro and David Hungate were a critical part of it before they formed Toto. Other studio greats like Louie Shelton, Plas Johnson are on the album as well as sax great Tom Scott.

That was actually a flugelhorn, not a trumpet. The flugelhorn is taller than a trumpet and has a slightly more mellow sound. It was really popularized by Chuck Mangione in the late 70s with his song, "Feels So Good". Chuck was a regular "guest" on the hit cartoon show, "King of the Hill".😂

Boz got his start with the Steve Miller Band, then recorded a solo album in 1969 in Muscle Shoals that featured the studio's legendary R&B sidemen and none other than Duane Allman on a couple tracks. By the mid 70s he'd perfected this kind of mid-tempo slow groove that slotted well on FM radio along side Steely Dan, etc.

If you check out the original studio version of this off "Silk Degrees", just play the whole thing. Not a bad track on it. Silk Degrees was yet another one of those albums everyone had in their collection. We've been listening to Boz since the 70's. Please, please do yourself a favor and listen to the whole recording, I guarantee you'll remember it! ☮️ ❤️ 🎶 🎸 🎶

He grew up with Steve Miller and was in the Steve Miller Band before he went out on his own. Another fun fact, Saturday Night Fever was filmed to Boz Scaggs and Stevie Wonder music and they both pulled out of allowing their music in the movie so the producers hired The BeeGees to write songs with the same rhythms so they could use their music for the dance scenes. John Travolta never danced to any BeeGees songs for the movie. It came later.

This song is great by Boz in 1976, and still is today! Another song called Lowdown sung by Hank III is country and is a completely different song you may enjoy. Upright Bass, fiddle, steel guitar and Hank style to enjoy. He has many noteworthy songs and sometimes he does his Grandaddy's songs and can sound like him! The songs are usually done live in a Honky Tonks with adoring fans.... Sometimes things happen and its usually good music!
