Here I am watching 2 black rappers listening to an old white dude singing a ballad and not only showing the song respect but relating to it. Your Podcast always reminds me that every human on this planet has more in common than the shallow, baseless indoctrinations that seperate us. Thanks for your work boys, you remind us all that love & respect are the ties that bind us all. Music is indeed a universal language. Cheers from an old Aussie.

Just proves you will never know someone unless you take the time to get to know them. Too often we're quick to label people by how they look, who they hang out with, their taste in music, etc. There's much more to people than what we see on the surface.❤

When I was about 22yo (which was many years ago now), I bought a pair of red Kenny Roger cowboy boots. I loved those boots. I rode my horse in’em, I went to bars in’em, they were the best boots I ever owned. My dog chewed ‘em up and I cried like a baby. I had 3 pairs of shoes and those were one of ‘em. Never did get another pair ‘cause by the time I could afford them, they didn’t make’em anymore. 😢 I think of those boots and how much I loved that dang shepherd every time I hear Kenny Rogers. ❤

I also told them that if I ever caught them starting shit or bullying others they would regret it VERY much. Both of them are adults with their own children now and just the other day my oldest daughter told her oldest son 6 yrs old the same thing I had told her and her sister. I feel like 98% of the time violence is not the answer and I will go out of my way to try for peace and have had many people mistake it for weakness or that I was timid and they had to find out the hard way. Kenny Rogers started as a rock singer with his band The First Edition (one of their hits was "Just Dropped In". They had a TV show called "Rollin' on the River" back in the early 1970s (it was filmed in Toronto, so I don't know if it ever played in the U.S.). He had a string of hits after going solo including "Ruben James" &"Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town". He has a collaboration with Home Free of "Children Go Where I Send Thee" that's terrific. Rest in peace Kenny Rogers.

That's the thing, people confuse incompetence with goodness these days. Alot of people out there think a good man is incapable of violence. When if you are in capable of violence, there is no virtue in the non violence. The virtue only applies. Where one has the ability to propagate violence, yet chooses another avenue. Saving violence for those times where it is an inescapable necessity. Kenny knew that, and shared it in a way to show a learning story

Yellow belly was actually a terminology used referring to the bird yellow-bellied sapsucker. Something that would easily fly away
@MtnBadger4 ай бұрын
"Yellow belly" originally referred to the Yellow bellied Sapsucker bird, which has a yellow stomach and it came to be a synonym for coward. There are other references, as well from poor English people living in the swamp/marshlands where the eels with yellow bellies live. There's more examples but they all equate yellow with cowardice.

5:40 - That explanation of the source of the saying "yellow bellied coward" or why the colour yellow is associated with cowardice is wrong. In the old days, certain orgains were considered to be the source of certain emotions. For example, the heart was thought to be the source of feelings of love, which is why heart shaped cards, candies, etc are exchanged on Valentine's Day. In a similar fashion, courage was thought to come from the liver. If your liver is sick, you become jondiced and your skin turns yellow. So people who had sick livers were thought to be cowardly. Hence the colour yellow representing cowardice.
