Peggy, what a great video! I had received this plant as a cutting from a friend, and after many attempts at rooting, i was finally successful with a water prop, WITH it covered by a bag to create a tiny green house effect to up the humidity. I have it indoor, facing East morning sun. I am in 8 zone, my indoor humidity hangs around 50%. It has grown SO fast, and is one of my most favorite plants in my collection. There are very few videos and websites about the Ctenanthe Lubbersiana and I was so pleased to find your video. This plant doesn't get the spot light as some of the other prayer plants do. IMO, it is overlooked. Thank you for the great vid, and info, I have subscribed, :)

The absolute best video on this plant ever. I bought this plant not knowing much about it and it’s doing beautifully It was pretty big when I bought it probably a 9in pot and I transplanted it in an 11in self watering pot and it gotten so big I have to move if from my side table to it’s own tall plant stand. I put it near a south facing window and I live in zone 5 so it’s definitely an indoor plant for me and I don’t see this plant much in my area, when I saw it at Lowe’s it was the only one so I thought I’d give it a try and it’s doing fantastic. Thanks for the propagation tips I’m sure I’ll need to propagate it next year.

I bought a good sized one at Trader Joes a few months ago. It has more than doubled in size! I keep it near a large south facing window. I live in the Northwest, so there is no question of moving it outside. Thanks for your video

I don't know what your indoor environment is like, so that isn't a question I can answer. Consider the area it was growing in at HD and try to mimic the environment. I've seen these grown indoors successfully, but regular indoor light bulbs may not be able to produce enough light. Best of luck to you!

Then to see ur huge one inside let alone ur ones out side...Peggy I Swear I think I am drooling...😁... You are so Wonderful with Plants Honey.... Did U go to College for Plants & Biology ?????. Anyway mine did awesome for months....new babies. Then this long stem that kept getting more & more leaves. Now its dieing. ...not the 2 long stems but near all the rest... I've been asking everywhere.....Can I propergate in water....& finally You said yes I can.. I do so much better in water. So I'm going to give her a shot. Thank You so Much Peggy. I finally got around to getting this video done Kathleen. Sorry it took so long. No, I didn't go to school for plants. That's interesting that it was doing fine and then decided to be a diva. Did you move it? Is it possible it has pests? Anyway, best of luck with it. I would take a few cuttings and do water, moss and soil propagation. I just like to increase my odds if it looks like I'm losing a plant. Stay well!

Can you tell me if I can trust in the hydromether? I have my Lubersianna inside my house and I water every 7 to 10 days even though the hydromether reads 10. But I water anyway because seens to me too many days. On the other hand I'm afraidof root rot. Also since I bought it, it appeared with brownish sports in some leaves and the plant is inside the house under a growing light. So... what can cause this brown spots? I just recently repoted because as I mentioned I was afraid of roo rot. What do you recomend for a water schedule? Excuse me for so many questions. Thank you

Hello Mari, sorry to hear you are having problems with your Ctenanthe. I normally just use my moisture meter to see where the moisture is in the soil - near the top, middle or bottom. I can't really tell you when your plant should be watered because that is so dependent on your humidity, type of soil, temperature of your home, etc. Since these plants like indirect light, it is possible that it is getting too much light from your grow light. Again, it's hard for me to say since I don't know your setup. Also keep in mind that these plants like to stay somewhat moist but not wet. I hope this information helps.

I tried this method, but the leaves of the cutting started curling almost immediately. And they don't seem to be uncurling and it's been two days. I hope you can give me some advice, I really don't want the cuttings to die.

That has happened to me as well. I've even had to cut the leaves in half before. Eventually, the cuttings have rooted for me every time, with one exception, in which the cutting died. Keep in mind, there's never a 100% guarantee with propagations. I've also had good results putting the cutting directly in soil, but the leaves curled with that method, also. Best of luck!
