Pekora being fine with nudity and stuff as long as it's in a movie (aka, has artistic purpose) is something I can respect. Was cathartic really the word she used though, or is that a Japanese word that doesn't translate well to English?

As far as I can tell she was just using the English cathartic, although I'll welcome a correction if that turns out to be wrong.

@@pekomains I see. It just doesn't make much sense that she would say that with how she has said she has little interest in that kind of thing before. @sarahl7012 жыл бұрын
She definitely said cathartic! I think she meant she enjoys these sorts of movies with high emotional stakes like you'd see in Western film (though Japanese cinema has its theatrical moments as well); it could also be like a wasei-eigo "tension" situation where "tension" in Japanese doesn't really mean "tension" the way it does in English but I don't think that's the case here forgive me for writing a novel under your comment I just really click with Pekora's whole film/art-appreciation-style

Swedish, German, and simillar languages share the same system of pronounciation with Japanese, thats why its often easier for one person to learn the other languages, rather than someone from another system (like english), basically japanese is mostly the same of "you pronounce it like you read it" (besides special cases like "ha"), while english has often extra implied rules
@RelativelyBest2 жыл бұрын
@@AethiopiensPhallischerMegalith Okay, but I'm assuming she learned to read the Latin alphabet via English, so how the heck does she know what "Ä" sounds like? She even started reading it as an A like every English speaker ever, but then _corrected_ herself. o.O
@AethiopiensPhallischerMegalith2 жыл бұрын
@@RelativelyBest Actually, from the tellings of my japanese friends, a lot of English gets taught in kana, with Latin alphabet often not being used early on. That also makes sense, as Loanwords are inherently formulated in kana pronounciation, instead of English pronounciation. take " ビジネス " as "Business" is formulated in the way you would pronounce it right if you follow japanese pronounciation rules (bi shi ne su), If english pronounciation would play any role it would be ブシネッス (bu shi ne ssu) so going by that, "ä" would simply be "あえ" in kana pronounciation, which perfectly sounds like "ä".
