I am a Pelikan fan, I love their pens, and in my opinion the best German made brand amongst other German pen brands. M800/M805 has the perfect size for my right hand, my current everyday carry is primarily M805 Stressemann. Currently I am looking forward to the m605 tortoiseshell black which I pre-ordered from you.

I have a stone garden M800 fountain pen & a M800 ballpoint. Beautiful pens and great writers. Onion skin paper works very well with fountain pens. Standard 8 1/2” X 11” in a ream (500) sheets. I made a Lined template to set under the onion skin to use as a guide when writing letters. Clairfontaine & Rhodia make fine spiral notebooks that are fountain pen friendly. Thank you Jost

Aaaah, Pelikan... Probably my favorite brand, together with Montblanc and Aurora. I only wish some of their pens came with a monotone yellow solid gold nib, apart from the bicolor and rhodium plated versions. The only modern Pelikan I know about with such design is the limited edition 101N. But of course it's just a matter of aesthetics... I love my m800 with the green stripes.

I have a souveran 800. The ink flow is slow to start and the pen skips as if the ink flow is absent. What can I do to remedy this? Thanks

Great summary of Pelikan models. I am a loyal Pelikan owner; I own 13 at this point (soon to be 14, counting a vintage model I just ordered). I find Pelikans to be the most beautiful, best-quality fountain pens I own, and I own a large collection of a wide variety of pens. I would like to offer a suggestion to Pelikan. On their solid gold nibs, they only offer a limited number of nib grinds in their new pens. They no longer offer italic, OB, or any of the more interesting nibs. Just EF, F, M, and B. I find their solid gold nibs to be without character. They all write very smoothly, but they don't have anything interesting about them. I personally like a nice feedback in a nib. Not scratchy, but where you can feel the nib on the paper, and somehow it makes you want to keep writing. I would like to suggest that Pelikan offer more different grinds on their nibs like they used to. I would love to see a stub nib, myself. I have modified lots of my Pelikans to stubs. Some others, I have simply had tuned so that they have more character. I know other people like oblique nibs and so forth. Given that Pelikans are not inexpensive pens, I think their popularity would soar if they were to begin offering different grinds in their nibs again. The way it is now, I know if I buy a new Pelikan, I know I will have to have the nib tuned or modified before I can really enjoy writing with it. And that's not something that makes me happy, considering the price of their pens. It has made me consider vintage Pelikans as a more viable option. So Pelikan, please consider this option, because I know lots of people feel the same way.

cartridge converter instead of piston , and stud nibs are wery wet and you need to have watercolour paper to efficiently write on it , so i doubt people would like it ,

C- I use stubs all the time. You don’t need watercolor paper to write with them. You just need the same decent paper that most fountain pen devotees use.

So what paper do you use ? , some 90gsm hardly survives pelikan F nib .Leuchtturm 80gsm does surprisingly good, though their sketchbook 180gsm is a sponge .

I wholeheartedly concur, Debi; unfortunately, I cannot see Pelikan re-adopting the wide variety of nib grinds they once offered - I consider it's a populist decision - over the more specialised nibs (once) offered. Not surprisingly, you can pick up Souveran & traditional Pelikan fountain pen nibs - New Old stock from places like e-bay. I picked up an M200 NOS double broad nib (circa 1980's) from a seller, for just £25.00 - it was a great find - & whilst one may not be content with the limited line-up of nibs offered, a little searching around can sometimes garner great results. I do enjoy the Souveran series, but my proclivity is more for the vintage models from the 1950's - & they have serious 'wow' factor !! Enjoy the remainder of your week :)

I'm just into fountain pens and I love the look of the pelican's. If only the Kyokko was available for mortals, even just to hold it once. I'm so sorry for you, but if I ever buy a pelikan it would probably a used pen. I'll come around for some ink though.

The clips on Pelikans are too soft. They do not hold the pen. I lost an M400 from a suit coat pocket (so even thicker than a typical shirt pocket.) I've always disliked that Pelikan could make such good pens but completely failed to make a pocket clip as good as a $2 ball point.
