Think your Pericles game is probably the best historical game I’ve played in eons (and probably my favorite game)and it got me reading Thucydides and Donald Kagan as well, so really looking forward to this new game and the different way of playing and Perspectives it will offer on the wars.Thanks for all the hard work that goes into your excellent designs.

Hello. If you don't mind I have a question for you: I currently hesitate between two games you designed, Pericles and the Peloponnesian war. I will play almost exclusively solitaire. Which one would you advice me to get? Thank you for your help in this (difficult) decision.

I have the original VG Peloponnesian War...would love to get this one. Are you taking requests for future videos? If so, I'd like to see a midgame strategy video on For the People. I've seen the opening one so many times, I can probably quote it back to you. :)

The issue is there are so many different midgame situations. I'll think on how to bucket that into some basic themes. How about you do a series like you did for Empire of the Sun and when you get to a midgame I can comment on it.

@@markherman50 Ha, thats why it is so difficult to write good chess books on the middlegame. I have an FtP game running right now and Im playing the Union. Yeah, maybe Ill do another AAR video on what is going on so far

@@markherman50 Or what you could do is just pick up from where you left off in your FtP opening strategy video. It doesn't matter if you can't cover all the middle game situations. As you say, it's impossible. But I'm sure whatever you put together will be entertaining as well as instructional. :)

Buying this for the historical notes and updated components (and Mr. Herman’s design skills, of course). What’s the play time of the various scenarios?

A game turn of the 2nd Peloponnesian War scenario (original) takes around 20 minutes per turn. The Archidamian War scenario has the same set up and ends on turn 3, so that one is an hour with the full 10 turn scenario probably clocking in at 3 hours once you know the rules and procedures (all on play aid). The 1st Peloponnesian War scenario is 6 turns, so 2 hours. With the Fall of Sparta scenario which is 2P only, likely around 3-4 hours. I hope that helps.
