I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago and the constant toilet time disrupted my pelvic floor coordination immensely. For the past year or so, I have been troubled by constant feeling of tightness at the backside, feeling of a tight ball at the area above my pelvic bone and urinary symptoms such as stream weakness and frequency. Since the first time I did the stretch you demonstrated, I felt an immediate improvement in all the symptoms. After a week, I was largely relieved of my urinary symptoms. Thank you so much. Your videos had really improved my life greatly!

Thanks you so much for taking the time to make such a great routine. I've had pelvic pain in my perineum for four years. As a 26 yr old man, it has been crippling to be in pain every day (especially in the afternoon/evening), after urinating, bowel movement, etc. I've been to a physical therapist for several months, acupuncturist, urologist, etc. I would ask that you now make a pelvic floor exercises strengthening routine. Now that we can use this release routine to get to a place without pain, the next step would be rebuilding the related musculature. We would all be so grateful. My goal is to feel like a human being again, so I can finally feel like a father and husband like when I could function. Thanks again!

Hi Michael! Thanks for taking the time to write. I'll keep your request in mind for future videos. In the meantime, I suggest you take a look at the following vids for some gentle strengthening exercises. The first doesn't 100% apply to your situation, but I think the exercises and tips will still be helpful for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKuagYZ-g9ONh8k. Even the posture info... It's all helpful when it comes to rebuilding and rehabbing the core and pelvic floor strength. // The second is called "bathtub kegels:" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoObYmqQaL6ir5o and it's a nice way to work up to pelvic floor isolation exercises. Lastly, deep squats are a great way to build functional pelvic floor strength: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXakk2SDeMZkY9U

Thank you very much Dr. Grogan for this very helpful video. I just did your routine and found your instruction very easy to follow. I have been struggling with pelvis area pain for the past year and a half. For the longest time I had problems getting out of the car, had to stop running and couldn't participate in triathlons anymore. Bummer. I feel I am out of whack and the most annoying thing is the pain I have in the pyramidalis muscle area (both sides). I was wondering if you have a video showing a routine to alleviate this nagging pain. Thank you for your time. Cheers from Canada.

Dr. Bri, thank you for this video! I stretch alongside it 4-6 times a week and it has greatly contributed to re-training my pelvic floor muscles. I've been going to PT for pelvic floor dysfunction for a couple of months and this video has been an amazing addition to my other treatments (e.g., sitz baths, weekly PT appts, exercise, etc.). I was given a book to accompany my treatment - in it there is a chapter dedicated to stretching and the types of stretches one should do to release the pelvic floor. This video includes ALL of them (and some)! I also appreciate how this video is a combination stretching and yoga routine. It helps release both the mind AND pelvic floor muscles. One question: do you have a recommended stretch for the bulbosaspongiosa muscle? I haven't found one that targets that specifically. I've been told to do external manual strain-counter-strain, but am wondering if you know of any stretches that also target that muscle's release.

I'm so glad this vid has been helpful for you! Per your question, I'm not sure... My mind goes to the deep squat stretch, or happy baby pose extending one leg at a time to really open up the groin and the pelvic floor... Let me know what you think! All my best to you.

Although certainly not a substitute for medical treatment and individualized treatment, my videos can be a good starting place. Thanks in advance for sharing with anyone who might need it!

So awesome that you are reachable. May I add that I am painter and play the ukulele and I sit for hours at a time, sometimes days. I'm 68 years old and in Massachusetts its been a long cold winter. This was an eye opener and now a daily part of my stretch & strength routine. Also, these exercises are imperative for winter blues. I'm committed!! I already feel so much better. 'Use it or lose it'! :) LOL.. Much success to you & have a great 2018!!

Thanks so much Sandi! Here's hoping you get some sunshine soon! I'm dealing with a long, cold winter in my area too. YUK!

I've been dealing with pelvic floor pain for years now and have problems with some of the stretches as my right leg..hamstring and inner thigh / groin suffered a injury and if i get too aggressive stretching seems to aggravate it all over again and I want my leg to heal but at the same time I want to get better. I've been doing foam rolling instead which seems to help but it would be nice if a professional foam rolling video specifically designed for pelvic floor issues could be developed for us that are dealing with injury or disabilities but have pelvic floor issues and are in pain. A video that shows how to free up and mobilize the pudendal nerve for perineum, bladder,sitting and rectus abdominis pain would be nice. Thanks for taking your own personal time to help us, this weird issue is not only painful but cost the suffer so much in terms of money, time and dignity so I know what the other commenter meant when they said they just want to feel human again.

Thanks for the suggestion, Neal! I have several videos lined up already, but I will definitely consider creating one within the next few months related to foam rolling and/or other release techniques for perineum, bladder, sitting, and rectus abdominis pain. I'll shoot for getting you something by March. :)

Dear Dr., I am suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction with dysynergic defacation. I also have rectal prolapse. I am doing the above exercise daily since 2 months. Kindly advise me whether i can do this exercise. Please also suggest which doctor i should approach.

This workout is **pelvic floor aware** meaning that specific cues are given for breathing and technique. This keeps the workout "pelvic floor friendly" for people with all sorts of pelvic floor issues. That being said, I can't guarantee that it will be appropriate for your needs. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT and will tolerate exercises differently. Listen to your body and stop or modify if anything feels uncomfortable for your particular core/pelvic floor needs. Talk to your local pelvic floor physical therapist for individualized medical advice! In the meantime, you can check our free pelvic floor dysfunction guide. www.vibrantpelvichealth.com/resources

I really hope this gives me some relief. I suffer from severe nerve pain in my lower back, pelvis and legs. I'm going to start doing this once per day for the next 8-12 weeks and see if the pain improves. Wish me luck!

I really love these stretches! I have tight pelvic floor muscles and this has been the only thing to help :) I am now pregnant and am wondering if these are safe to perform during the first trimester?
@vibrantpelvichealth7 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It should be fine in the first trimester as long as everything feels comfortable, particularly the one on your belly. Just watch for that, but you should be just fine! You might also like this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXXXpIdon7aDjNU It's not specifically intended for pelvic floor release, but it would be safe for you and (I feel) that it's very relaxing.

I am a 24 year old girl who has been suffered from years of pelvic discomfort and frequent urination. I always carry tension and pain around my pubic bone area. I learned about pelvic floor disorder first time from my PT and now I'm using your video to release that tension and finally I feel my bladder is back to its normal position. Q: Can I do it everyday cuz my symptom sometimes come back if I didn't sleep well.

Hi. I have just discovered you and love your passion and educational content. I love this video , however , I just want to check that the 'frog pose' is safe if you have any sort of pelvic organ prolapse? Look forward to your response. Thankyou!
@vibrantpelvichealth5 ай бұрын
Hi there, YES! The frog pose stretch is prolapse safe. Try lifting one leg at a time (rather than lifting both legs at the same time) in order to come into the frog pose position. Breathe deeply and relax when in the frog stretch. It's a wonderful stretch for tight hip and pelvic floor muscles, which is common for people who have prolapse.

Hi I really love what you do for us person that suffer with pelvic pain and issues. Thank you so much. And I would like to ask you if ligting weights like squats, deadlifts, abs exercises, upper body exercises can make it worse for the pelvic pain which is in the rectum and urinary track?
@vibrantpelvichealth7 жыл бұрын
Great question! Re: your question, YES - it's possible that lifting weights and other upper body exercises can make pelvic pain worse. This is because during these exercises, you're activating your core (of which the pelvic floor is a part). It's GOOD to activate your core (you need to, in order to maintain spinal stability and proper form) but it can potentially aggravate an overactive/tense pelvic floor. Consider working with a trainer with this in mind; maybe you can figure out a way to work additional rest days into your training schedule, or temporarily decrease the intensity of your training, while also incorporating more relaxation/stretching sessions into your workout schedule. Take care!

Thank you for the awesome routine. I have anterior pelvic tilt and work a sitting job which has left me very immobile and stiff. This definitely cracked the concrete that is my pelvic floor.

You have no idea how glad I am to have found your channel! You really know your stuff, I can’t wait to binge watch all of them haha. I’ve been dealing with some urine retention, I have good and bad days. If bladder muscles have become too weak to contract, do you have any recommendations on how to strengthen them to return to normal function? Thank you in advance!
@vibrantpelvichealth7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jessica! I'm so glad you found my channel, too! Enjoy binge watching (lol!) --- I always do the same when I find someone I resonate with. As for your question, are you referring to your bladder muscle, or your pelvic floor (i.e. the muscles that stop the flow of urine)? Sometimes extreme pelvic floor tension can make it seem as if your bladder is too weak to contract. Just a thought... Consider looking at my bladder diary video too!
@jessicadiaz62607 жыл бұрын
FemFusion Fitness thank you for directing me to that video! I’m going to definitely be trying the diary. I had been dealing with urine retention for a bit (maybe due to tension) and then it got really bad for 2 days (I actually had to go to the hospital as I was extremely constipated and guess that was what had been cause the extreme retention) but now I feel as if my bladder doesn’t release all the urine it has. I have to get up walk around then pee the exact same amount. Probably tmi, im sorry lol 🙈 I’m hoping the extreme retention didn’t damage my bladder’s ability to contract. I was wondering if there was a way to help fix or aid it. By the way, thank you so much for replying and trying to help out the people who reach out to you! 🙏🏼
