The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of the National Trails situated in Wales. This trail has a total length of 186 miles/299 kilometres with a total ascent equal to the height of Mount Everest. This is part three in a series of five videos which has been compiled into a playlist. Also, if you're planning to do the trail, there is a Trail Review video, that provides hints and tips that will help you achieve a successful completion. More recently, I have completed a summary video that consolidates all the playlist videos into a single video. Needless to say, this video does not have the same level of detail as the playlist videos but serves the purpose of providing a taster of this National Trail.
We are following a South to North route stating in Amroth and finishing near Cardigan, after a hike of 10 days and 50 minutes! This video charts the tries and tribulations of days five and six. Day five finds us wild camping in a field not far from the site of Henry Tudor's landing at Mill Bay. From here he travelled to Bosworth to beat Richard 3rd in battle, however, we travel west to St Ann's Bay to pass the lighthouse. A little further see us at the sight of a small disused quarry that would make an ideal wild camping pitch in appropriate calm weather.
On this day we eventually pass Broad Haven where we refuel and resupply before finding a wild camping spot on the cliff edges a mile from the beach of Broad Haven. Another long and this time a very hot hiking day follows when we are eventually able to gain a pitch at a private camping ground in Porth Claris.

This was definitely pay-back after the previous industrial section. Genuinely hadn't realised how beautiful the coast is along this stretch, thank you for taking us along.

i did this bad boy solo last June and its a stunning but not to be underestimated path. Especially with a large pack. Im not ashamed to say i took the bus from Angle to Pembroke and im happy with my decision. My son also did the path after me and he is a purist (he hated that section) . Its a very underlooked trail but it holds is own compared to the popular ones.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is a walk i`ve never looked at before but i`m enjoying your journey. There seems to be many pluses, fantastic scenary, lots of history, it doesn`t appear overly busy like some of the more popular paths. I do enjoy the social aspect of hiking the well trodden trails like the WHW which is a favorite of mine but it`s sometimes nice to have a bit of space. One of the many benifits of backpacking /wild camping is the ability to alter your plans to suit the way you feel on the day. A few miles per day less in hot weather seems a sensible decision. I haven`t walked a costal path yet partly because I feel it would be hard going if raining heavily. By the end of your adventure there`s a chance I could have a different outlook.

Totally agree re the social side of the trails, I've certainly made many friends from the people I meet out on the trails. However, have to say, that in Wales I've also found that the locals have been very willing to engage socially, both on the PCP and the Anglesey Coastal Path. The pluses you mention are certainly there and from a wild camping point of view, it seems to be accepted including reasonable water points. In terms of the weather, the guide book I was using did recommend South to North for that reason, so you mainly have the prevailing wind behind you and that seem to work and confirmed by hikers arriving in the opposite direction. Enjoy the rest of the series and I hope you get chance some day to sample a coastal path. I really appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.

Hi Nigel, I'm really enjoying this series. At the end of it, could you please let us know how you got to and from the trail, and how you did for drinking water and food resupply. Thank you 👍

This is a great series of videos, thank you for the effort it must have taken. Can you tell me which guidebook and map you were using and with the benefit of hindsight would you recommend the same or an alternative? Many thanks

Hi Graham, glad you enjoying the series. I've hiked many a trail in the UK and over time I have come to the conclusion that the best guide books are from the Trailblazer series. In terms of maps I prefer to use Harvey Maps. Both of these publishers cover the PCP and in fact all the national trails. To help with these questions and other you may have, I have produced a trail review video which covers questions like these, which hopefully you will find useful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWXRp5avgq-KhdE However, I am always interested to answers further questions if required, as this may help to further refine the quality of the trail reviews I have published so far. Cheers

Agree! Thanks for taking the time to provide the comment. As you are possibly aware KZbin uses AI for advert placement. It is only recently, that I have gained influence to alter the AI placement. Therefore, I am slowly working through my back catalog to improve the appropriate quantity and placement. I have now amended the adverts on this video which hopefully provides a more appropriate balance. Really appreciate the feedback, Thanks

@@AmblingTrails your videos are outstanding beautiful just impossible to watch it with so many way to many commercials every 30 seconds so in reality gets frustrating to try to skip the commercials because won’t let you either. I watch so many videos in KZbin all kinds but your video has the most commercials ever don’t know why
