Hi Janet! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The pencil cases are very easy. They are as easy as the coin purses were, if not more so. I absolutely KNOW that YOU CAN do this. Just repeat "I can do this, I can do this". Watch the video and pause it if you need to, but I would love for you to try this. I'm right there with you!

These are really cute and your fabrics are so perfect. I can see my two youngest grandkids putting their school pencils in these. I’m thinking how useful they would be for me to keep some of my sewing gadgets in as well. It would be a great way to keep my shorter rulers and special fabric marking pencils and pens in. It would sure beat having them rolling off my table all the time! Thank you for another fun and excellent tutorial. Oh Nancy, you always melt my heart!! I know you can make this, and I think you'll be impressed with how nicely these turn out. And you are exactly correct, they can be used for so many different things. You could just change around your measurements when you cut them and make all sorts of sizes. I'm going to make myself one for my double pointed knitting needles. I noticed a few comments where people were going to give a zipper their 1st try and I always think of you and how well you've done. I'm always proud of you!

Good morning! Yes, I always leave my mistakes in, because it has always bothered me when I watch tutorials... because you know that they have cut the scene and they're using different fabrics or something, because they made a mistake. But we never get to see HOW they fixed it. That's why I leave it in, I want to show exactly what mistake I made and how I went about fixing it. Sometimes it's an easy fix, sometimes it's not. Thank you so much for the compliment on my teaching style. I'm glad that you find it helpful. So now you know that I must have been talking directly to you about the zipper. 😉🥰 You CAN do this project... I'm with you all the way. Just start playing the video and pause it where you need to, or replay it wherever you need to, until you get your zipper in. I promise you, it's easier than what we worry it might be.

But, I had those cute little fabrics with crayons and numbers on them, so I thought it was best for the "back to school" theme. Love the fabric you used for the pencil case. I also like the method you used to box the area by the zipper so that the zipper ends stayed flat. I can see me using that method on other sized pouches. TY. We all make mistakes and I like that you kept the mistake in the video and showed us how to correct it.

Yes, I was thinking of using it for my double pointed knitting needles. It's a little bit longer than crochet hooks, but you could always adjust your cutting size once you've made one and know how long it ends up.

Great project! The pencil case can also be used for artists paint brushes just make longer and cover the lining with vinyl so it can be wiped down when dirty. I enjoy your channel.

I'm glad you liked this video tutorial, Karen. I had thought about making a vinyl pencil case, too. I also have another tutorial coming up soon. It's a stand up style pencil case and the sides come down so that the pencils poke upward. It's hard to describe, but I'm going to do a tutorial on it because I think it would make a great Christmas gift. It could be used for markers, paintbrushes, pencils or whatever. It could also hold scissors, etc

My guild makes little pouches for the schools to put feminine hygiene products in to hand out to the girls. This year they requested they be bigger so the children will have pencil cases. A 2 for 1 win. Can not wait to get started. Thank you.

It's great to hold either paintbrushes, markers, that sort of thing. It also has a zipper. Good Monday morning, Amanda! I've been wanting to do a pencil case for a while, but I've had two patterns in mind, this being the first one. I'm still going to do the other tutorial, but I'm going to space it out a bit, as I don't want it back-to-back with this one. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the video project and the crayon fabric. Hi Betty! I had a couple of them that I quilted yesterday and today I put the zippers in them to finish them up. I'm not sure if you're on my Facebook group or not, but I posted a picture of them there. I love quilting things, and probably should have quilted them closer together and more than I did, but I will the next time. I'm glad you liked them. As far as threads go, I wish I could help you out, but I am so cheap that I I won't buy anything more than either polyester or a fairly cheap cotton thread. Maybe in time, I will learn to try new ones, though.

Hi Patricia! I'm so sorry you're having issues with this. I didn't have a problem, but when I read what you wrote, I remembered one of the 1st bags (similar to this) that I ever made and I had the same issue that you're saying... the liner was loose, too big. I ended up cutting my pieces smaller for the lining, only on the sides and bogtom, if I remember right. I don't know if this will help you in this case or not, but that's the best suggestion I've got. I wish I was there to see it and help you in person. Please let me know.
