Pendolino repaint at Alstom’s Technology Centre in Widnes

The UK’s fleet of Pendolino trains was built by Alstom and introduced in the early 2000s and the iconic tilting trains are hugely popular with passengers. Now at midlife, it is important to asset protect and repaint the vehicles so they can continue to provide a reliable service for travellers on the west coast mainline. I’ve been a WCML traveller recently and noticed the Virgin branding disappearing. Hadn’t realised it was such an involved job! Will you be painting on Avanti’s new livery?

They are. I got on an Avanti train and it was painted. Only some will be fully painted for now. Others just near the cab.

Avanti plan to do a full refurbishment, introducing a three-tier class system, once they're finished with their Diesel stock
