I just watched the insider for this episode. And apparently, when young Oz left his brothers, what set him to do it was because of how he assumed they went down that latter to mess with Oz because of his leg. But that wasn't the case at all, they were just kids goofing with their brother. But because of Oz's insecurities, he took it so personally and even went on to his adulthood, like when he killed Alberto.

7:05 It's a flashback to the 80s, not the 90s. The music on the radio, the home computer, "Beetlejuice" in the theatres, all tell us that this is set in 1988-1989. Which works, because if Oz is 10 in the flashback he's in his mid-40s now.

I was lowkey rooting for Oz this whole season until this episode. He killed his brothers didn’t even have any remorse for it. Sick man. I’m rooting for Victor now. He’s the protagonist now since Mr. Crabs had a heart attack
@rijulNangia17 күн бұрын
This episode easily makes Oz the most hated character in the series/universe for me. In contrast Sofia seems to be the tragic hero. Sofia shows forgiveness, remorse,pain, betrayal and empathy. Best female character of any series this year. Oz has been an evil , jealous , lying , sick in the head POS ever since he was a kid. I thought his mom was to blame for how he turned out but she seemed like quite a decent caring mom when she had all 3 sons together. Oz killed his brothers aswell as his mom in a way. He also never kept his promise of giving her a good life
@BthIX16 күн бұрын
I would have agreed with you until this episode. Besides his brothers which I dont think is fair to hold against him 40 years later, the only people Oz has killed were other gangsters who would have done the same to him to get ahead if given the chance. Sofia on the other hand, set off a bomb in Crown Pointe that leveled a whole city block. Dozens of innocent civilians completely unconnected to the gang war must have been killed. That makes her a worse person.
@bgtechno9316 күн бұрын
@@BthIX Same, i would also add Sofia literally killed her whole family and let an innocent child lose her parents and is stuck being an orphan all her life. Oz protects his mother, Vic at times messed up and yet Oz kept on giving him a chance and never killed him, and showed compassion towards Vic. Vic was even sorry for what happened to the most precious things to Oz his mother and Oz was like "go get my army i don't need your guilt right now". Oz wants to be on top but he knows he needs trustworthy people versus Sofia who wants only revenge and nothing else. Who cares if she has to level a whole city, she will do it in order to destroy one person (Oz). Oz is no saint and he is villain but out everyone Sophia is the only person who changed from a decent person to an evil person as oppose to Oz not knowing any better as a kid and becoming a villain that we all know.

It's interesting how Penguin's story has a lot of parallels with Wilson Fisk in Daredevil, but their path to power are reversed. They both came from humble beginnings, a poor neighborhood with a tough upbringing. They both think they're helping people in their twisted way. But when Fisk went back to New York, he was on top. He made money through white collar crimes, embezzling money from corporations, cooking the books, exploiting government construction contracts. And Fisks goes in to crush the lower class, buying up their homes at a discount, pushing people out of their neighborhoods, even taking out the small time criminals. Penguin on the other hand, is trying to climb up from the bottom. He's uniting the small time gangs to consolidate power. And he's trying to bring down the big time mobs.

There could also be an analogy to the crossroads. Sofia and Oswald found themselves at a crossroads, where they had the opportunity to take a different path, but instead of making a choice, they blew up the crossroads, leaving everyone involved to their fate. Yeah. The Matador always wins because the game is rigged. The bull is drugged and injured before it even starts. It's fooled into thinking it has a chance, as the Matador taunts it. Even in the very rare time the Bull succeeds in killing the Matador, it still doesn't leave that ring alive. The rich/elite always win. Because they set the rules. "any system is perfectly designed to get the results it currently gets" Basically meaning the status quo is interested in maintaining itself, things are the way they are because those with power and influence want it that way. The game is rigged.

It probably wouldn't have made a difference anyway, what with how big the bomb blast was, but he probably didn't know the blast was going to be that big, it just looked like a bomb, and regardless, the least he could have done was warn them as he ran away. Like the couple in Beetlejuice, the brothers also died by drowning.

Some constructive feedback: Having Ryan intro the episode was a little weird. And so was the cut to Colton. Also, The edit was a bit lazy to leave a sliver of Colton's video at the bottom of the screen when showing clips from the show. Took me a while to figure out what that was, but you can see Colton's hands behind the video because the video doesn't actually cover the entire screen. Finally, Colton mentioned the flashbacks took place in the '90s, which is incorrect. In the episode, young Oz mentions his brothers went to go see Beetlejuice, which was released in 1988. So that's the year the flashbacks take place.

Not sure why you said the closing song was a cover of you really got me cause it was actually lunacy by swans. Unless it played before that and I just didn’t catch it.

They gotta quit rushing these things out to be FIRST. ALways multiple errors each video.
@fleef6917 күн бұрын
@dipperdandy agreed. I get playing the KZbin game but personally I’d rather wait a day or two for a more accurate vid. I usually catch when they mess something up but just for other people’s sake. Edit: actually nevermind cause there’s no way they don’t already have these vids done since I’m fairly certain press people and KZbinrs and stuff got to watch the full thing plus the recording and editing for this kind of thing could never be done as quick as they put these out so that makes the errors even less excusable.
@dipperdandy17 күн бұрын
@@fleef69 oh of course they get early screeners. I know sites like AV Club usually do. Even lesser known ones. I'm sure YT channels like this would. They'd have to. Which you're right, it makes it all the worse to have these errors.

Crossing the streams, across the last two episodes, I felt like Sofia had her own interactions with the Maiden (Gia), the Mother (Eve, with her girls), and the Crone (Francis). Sofia, in some ways, also has been all three across the series.

Why do “poor people” always have the most spacious apartments on TV? Those living rooms are always the size of multiple low-income apartments.
@OoRockstarkoO16 күн бұрын
It’s just a scenic thing. Filming a real cheap apartment would just look too claustrophobic to the viewer, not to mention the lighting problems

Great episode! Super odd to see kid Oz have an unhealthy desire for his mom’s attention that it drove him to kill his own brothers. Also Sofia is a great arrival to Oz. Such a great show

Episodes Ranked So Far: 7. Episode 2: The Inside Man (I love this episode, but it is for sure the weakest. An action packed, exciting romp, but it feels like literally nothing happened in terms of plot)(9.5/10) 6. Episode 5: Homecoming (This episode is pure fun! So much happens with such quick, high stress pacing. Nadia dies, Sofia shoots Johnny and changes her name, Sofia and Sal team up, Vic, Francis, and Oz move to crown point, Oz and Vic build their empire underground, etc. While it’s incredible and fun, the pacing is almost too much. There’s no time to breathe while all these crazy things are happening)(9.7/10) 5. Episode 6: Gold Summit (That ending! Oh my god! This episode is the opposite of 5, it’s slower paced, but that is for sure not a bad thing! I love a good slow burn and this nails it! It makes it feel way more epic with many incredibly executed scenes. Oz’s speeches are both epic! Vic killing the Squid is shocking and haunting! Francis telling Oz to kill her almost made me cry. And, of course, that cliffhanger is just…wow! As a result, the plot keeps you hooked for a full, long, epic hour)(10/10!) 4. Episode 1: After Hours (What a flawless start! It shows exactly what this show is going to be and it’s unforgettable! Obviously there’s the ending, but this episode is so much more than that! The introduction to the characters and tone instantly turned this into the best show on TV right now)(10/10!) 3. Episode 7: Top Hat (I loved this one so much! It was a great shift to a grander scale that scales the vast city of Gotham. From Oz’s backstory to the stuff with Francis and Sofia to Sal and Oz’s intense fight to Sofia’s speech during the standoff to, once again, the ending. It may have been short, but it made up for it 10 fold! The only issue is Vic, my favorite character, had only like 1 minute of screen time)(10/10!) 2. Episode 4: Cent’Anni (The highest rated episode of the show for good reason. I do have problems with Vic having no screen time and Oz having very little, but the rest is so good I can forgive it. Another one that is just moment after moment! Sofia stole the whole show after this episode. It’s disturbing, long, emotional, and just plain incredible! I was invested in all the history of the Falcone family throughout. Cristin’s acting is EXCELLENT! It crafted a great mystery. And it has the best line in the whole show: “Put your pants on Johnny, we need to talk.”)(10/10!) 1. Episode 3: Bliss (Like I said, Vic is my favorite character, so an episode where he takes center stage is great! This episode had the perfect balance of characters and more! It was so good I stood still staring into space after watching it trying to process how it can be this good. Loved Vic’s backstory in the first 5 minutes, but that isn’t even the best part! The second half of this episode is a masterpiece! The acting is at its best. The final scene changed the course of the entire show! Words can’t explain how fantastic it is!)(10/10!)

I think the flashback scene is in the late 80's. I say that because if you go back and watch you hear Rob Base's and DJ EZ-Rock''s song "It Takes Two" blasting from a car driving by with came out in 1988.

Yeah, I thought it was odd Colton said the flashbacks were in the 90's. It looked like the late 80's and if he lied about the kids going to see "Beetlejuice" in theatres, that would have had to have been in the 80's. Also, it's a slight nod to Tim Burton, who famously directed "Batman".

@11:36 Beetlejuice and Batman Returns we're both written and directed by Tim Burton. In Batman Returns it's the Penguins first appearance in a motion picture AND he makes his empire in the sewers.

Foodie Alert!!! I love Sophia's taste in Jam. Pretty sure she was preparing toast with D'Arbo Fine Raspberry Jam. It's an austrian company but I used to work in an italian market where we sold D'Arbo. All of their flavors are great, but the best is forest berry.

The thing I like about this episode is that oz’s mom is just as brutal as him. She’s a monster too even if you feel sympathy for her dementia

not to be that guy, but this was a flashback to the 80s not the 90s....1988 to be exact. lol. They were playing "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock on the block and he said his brothers went to see Beetlejuice at the movies. Both of them came out in 1988. 😎

12:54 I would like to disagree my friend. I think the bull represents Ozz and the matador is represented by his mother. She had influence and control over him like a matador would have on the bull. But by killing his brother's, Ozz had crossed the line of control and had let his primal instincts kick in full throttle. And by doing this he is going to take his mother along with him on the journey of chaos just like the bull in the painting was doing with the matador. Plus, she refers to him strong bull...

While this show was happening on the other side of Gotham Batman was probably fixing the Batcave as the flood might have destroyed it and his other gadgets. Probably fixing that while multitasking in helping the city as Bruce Wayne post flood. Lots of issues BUT I assume the show would end with him setting his sights on the outcome of the show without actually showing Pattinson. I wonder if there could be a teaser of the new Batcave and all future tech they might show in the batman sequel with a news replay via radio/tv of the outcome of this show. Remember Wayne Manor was an abandoned orphanage in the Batman movie so it would make sense to move back home away from the hustle of the damaged city isolated and also a new Batcave.
