Being a former Olive Garden employee, one time a cockroach fell from the ceiling into someone's chicken alfredo. Management then tried to bribe them with Olive Garden giftcards so they wouldn't leave a bad review.

I've worked at 2 different Olive Gardens, this couldn't happen unintentionally. The size of the foot would impossible not to notice unless you scooped the soup with your eyes closed. The ladles are so small that you'd basically have to balance the foot on it to even make it to the bowl. Olive Garden management is militant on cleaning standards, so unless the entire staff was near brain dead, I don't see how this is possible.
@deftones8717
@deftones8717 Жыл бұрын
While I do agree that it likely wasn’t Olive Garden at fault here, and most likely was just someone trying to make money by filing a lawsuit, so they planted it in the soup themselves.. I also just want to point out that even though Olive Garden is a chain restaurant, and they probably do have pretty good quality control, I also imagine they aren’t all up to the same exact standards. So while the ones you worked at may have been up to snuff, and prioritized cleanliness, there’s bound to be some locations that are run by sh!tty management and staff. Also, I doubt they all have the same exact sized soup ladles, but who knows? So it’s definitely possible for something like this to occur, but highly unlikely. Just some scumbag trying to scam Olive Garden.
@私たちは一緒に行進します
@私たちは一緒に行進します Жыл бұрын
I think you could both be correct, and incorrect here, strangely. Yeah I agree its very unlikely that this was the fault of the restaurant and most likely is a scam. I cant tell if the foot looks cooked or placed after the food was cooked from the images unfortunately. But also, the food they use, many of the ingredients do come from warehouse or factory settings. it is possible for these to become infested or contaminated without people knowing. Either in storage or during delivery. It is possible that the foot was in the food when it arrived and the employee didn't notice due to a high workload and people naturally taking less notice when it is something they do on a daily basis. Its very possible that an employee who ladles soup daily, and is very busy could just grab a ladle, take a scoop and put it in a bowl without paying much notice to it. Kind of like when we drive home but do it instinctively, we don't notice the journey as we zone out as its just something we always do, then suddenly realise we are at home. Unlikely, but the possibility cant be ignored either

When I was a kid we went to eat out at a local restaurant and my mom found a baby gecko floating in her ice water. It definitely wasn't there when they served it so it must have fallen from the ceiling. It was unresponsive (severely undercooled) but breathing. They let me keep it and nurse it back to health. Turned out to be a female. I named her Frosty and she lived in giant terrarium in my bedroom for the next twelve years :3 EDIT: Out of all the comments I've left on this site throughout the years, how did THIS one blow up the likes?? And, yes, the story is true. Frosty was an African fat-tailed gecko. We were living in Abuja at the time because of my dad's job. When we moved back to the Netherlands Frosty came with us, so I guess she became a naturalized Dutch fat-tailed gecko :P

Worked on a line for awhile. One time we had a customer from door dash or some service say they needed new food because it has hair in it. The driver was well trusted by us, we had literally 5 eyes on the food. 4 cooking the different crap and one taking the food for boxing. Customer was extremely hesitant to give us the old food in exchange for the new food. Opened the box to find a egg with a long brown hair( nobody in the place or the driver had long brown hair.)

Someone tried to sue mountain dew because they claimed there was an entire rat body in a can of this delicious beverage. Mountain dew won the case. How? Because mountain dew proved that if an entire rat was somehow canned with the beverage that within 60 days the rat would be completely dissolved. Based on the manufacturing date of the can in question and purchase date of the can in question it was well past 60 days old. Let that soak in.

The only bad experience I ever had with olive garden (aside from seriously sub par food on some rare occasions) was my mom got a certain salad on the menu, and pulled out a large plastic piece of the bag the lettuce came in. The waiter looked back and yelled to her manager not far from her and said "Uhh, I found it"! The manager rushed over and apologized profusely. Explained they had been looking everywhere for the missing piece of plastic, implying they even make sure they have the full bag to throw away. And to their defence we couldnt even see it until she pulled it out with a fork for her next bite. We got our entire meal consisting of 6 family members for free, and included a desert for everybody. We paid nothing and left with a great experience. They really are on top of their quality control for the level of restaurant they are, and i was impressed. This is 100% a load of crap. There is no way this slipped by. If it was really cooking in the soup for a while the meat wouldve been falling off the bone, if not broken down into it. Definitely a scam. Edit: Gotta give em some props tho. Definitely some serious brain worms level dedication to chomp on a fucking rat foot of unknown origin and cutting up your mouth... but gotta play the part i suppose.

As a former Olive Garden waitress, the servers are the ones who scoop and serve the soup. It would be literally impossible not to notice an entire rats foot. I mean, that's a pretty dry foot for being served in soup. Not to mention it looks more raw than something that was cooked, or sitting in a heated pot of soup for X hours. Obviously we don't know exactly what happened, but based off that pic it's definitely sus. Guess I'll wait for the notification/breaking news that the remaining portion of that rat was found in another pot of soup at Olive Garden. 🤣 If that happens I'll have to side with the customer.

I worked in restaurants for 10 years, and although I've seen pretty insane shit back in the kitchen, there is absolutely NO WAY something like this can happen, unless it is entirely on purpose. Two things might've happened here: 1) A disgruntled kitchen staff member 2) A customer trying to finesse the restaurant for money. I'm inclined for 2. If you're kitchen staff, you know you can't get away with this crap, because it will be easily traced back to you. Plus, no matter how sketchy you might be, I have not met a single cook who would go out of their way to do something this heinous.

As an owner of a lot of weird pets inc. rats, snakes, etc. - that looks identical to the foot of a frozen feeder rat that you'd use to feed reptiles. I'm looking at the ones I have in my freezer right now and they all have really similar blotchy discoloration. Edit: just to add more info these are available very cheap (usually $1) from practically any pet store that sells small animal supplies, including big chain stores like petco etc., much cheaper than live adult rats. The feet and tails often break off in the freezer and can be used to feed baby snakes that aren't ready to eat big rats yet, so you could probably even ask for a foot by itself if you didn't want to handle the frozen rat. I think it's also possible the person is telling the truth and a rat was accidentally chopped up at a factory and frozen with ingredients but it seems more likely to me that it's a scam. Just trying to assuage people's fears that a rat was deliberately tortured or anything like that.

Fun fact i used to work at a Dickey's barbecue pit, and on one of the very first weeks of this location being open my manager pulled me aside. He showed me his finger which was now a bit shorter (all of the meat before his fingernail was gone). He said he felt a sharp pain when it happened, but couldnt find the piece of flesh, because it was while he was chopping a bunch of brisket. He then said " i just chopped the brisket up extra fine because i didnt have time to find it because of how busy we were". Some poor soul out there is an accidental cannibal lol.

I mean anyone in the kitchen can lose a finger and accidentally drop it in some food. Especially a large pot of chili. The unlikely part of the scenario is that someone wouldn't notice their finger fall off, fall into the pot of chili, then assume that serving the finger with the rest of the chili is fine. Scandals like that can also be used to peddle rumors like "oh their chili is made of human remains" or some texas chainsaw massacre type shit. It shouldn't even be taken seriously since all it ever is used for is causing a scandal.

Some people might remember that Olive Garden used to have rolling chairs. As ridiculous as it may seem, when I was younger, I dropped a crayon and tried to roll back while leaning down to pick it up. This resulted in my head hitting the corner of the table and actually cracked my skull to the point that it required an immediate ER visit and led to a hefty amount of staples being lodged into my head. As someone else commented in their story, Olive Garden’s approach to remedy this was by providing my family with a $50 gift card. Incidentally, they no longer have rolling chairs at this particular establishment and I’ve never seen them in an Olive Garden since. Although I find it highly unlikely that this is solely due to my unfortunate encounter years ago, it has always stuck with me that I could inevitably be to blame for the lack of wheels in the restaurant.

You're somewhat correct. In the 90s, the FDA found rodents in some Pepsi cans and at least one woman got hospitalized after drinking a can with a spoiled rodent in it. But in basically every case, the company denied that it had happened. In 2012, there was a resurgence of such claims specifically concerning Mountain Dew, but the company won the lawsuit after proving that the rodent would have long been partially dissolved into a smelly jelly like substance in the acidic solution and also that the rodent was so young, it wouldn't have even been born when it was "canned".

honestly, my mother was a chef and parts of animals ending up in produce is pretty common. she used to wash lettuce and find all sorts of shit the harvester had sliced up. famously half a frog managed to make it onto a plate of salad. though thankfully it was noticed before serving it. they just hoped the second half was in the field, not on another plate. but the rat foot in minestrone definitely seems made up, for a multitude of reasons.

@@PerfectSense77 Obviously not impossible, just extremely unlikely like others said. As people who worked at olive garden have confirmed, the soups are sealed beforehand. Not sure what that holding you hostage part was about, that came totally out of left field. I'm not sure if your boss brings a gun to work to make sure no employees run away or if that is completely made up in your head. Your 'boss' probably gets paid about as much as you and has little incentive to grind out dollars for a company that will easily replace him.

Actually depending on how the food was processed when harvested, a rat part could end up in packages of lettuce or grains. A lettuce shredder or a grain combine will chop up a rat easily. Heck they mangle folks arms and hands that accidentally get pulled in. They do have separators to help catch this, but if the animal part is the right size and shape it might get through. I grew up on a farm and you would be surprised by how many animals up to the size of a wild turkey get pulled into and mangled by farm machinery. Anything larger will cause a machine failure. We sucked a deer into a corn picker once as a kid and it was a total mess. A rat would just get chopped up and some parts might go through.

The only way I could see a severed part of any animal getting into soup is if the animal fell into some machine at a meat packing facility. The only problems with that theory are that there’s usually no meat in minestrone, and like Olive Garden themselves said, the foot would’ve been cooked

There's no guarantee they didnt just pay with cash and or catch or raise their own either, and im doubtful pet stores are charging so much for a rat you need to break out the credit card. Have you seen the interview where a farmer brings up an excellent point about vegans who eat his crop products? He said the amount of death caused by working a field is astounding for their fancy arugula and kale salad juice, thousands of rodents and other animals are killed each season in one field alone. Sometimes their bits also do make it through various forms of QC measures. The only person who knows the whole truth is the plaintiff, and thats just going to have to be on them.

2:36 its actually fairly easy for something like this to happen on accident at an establishment where meals are prepared frozen out of bags, like panera, taco bell, or prepped food at a grocery store. If you pour a bag of frozen vegetables into a thick broth, it would be hard to see. At a massive frozen food processor, it would be really easy to overlook one out of however many rats walking into a machine.

I heard about this on the radio a couple weeks ago. From what I understand the soup is made in a warehouse and shipped to the Olive Garden, therefore it seems like the only way to get the foot in would be at the place it is cooked, meaning it would be steeped in the same soup and would be cooked, OR it was placed afterward....you mentioned that it shows no signs of cooking, so it seems quite weird that an employee would do that, it would take a LOT of preplanning and getting caught would be not just a firing, but possibly legal action. From what I understand when items are found in food it is nearly always planted by the customer in the hopes of free food or a pay day. Not that things don't happen, but when accidents happen it is usually with bugs because they can more easily sneak and fall into things. I know someone who found half of a bug after taking a bite out of a hotdog with onions and stuff on top.
