@Wveth2 жыл бұрын
I think it's weird to call him unlikeable. Like yeah he was flawed, but he was absolutely the good guy for most of the story and especially at the end. It was a story of someone who was arrogant and messed up really bad, then spent the rest of his life trying to make up for it. He sabotaged himself along the way because he couldn't share his pain with his wife. I really do not think he was close to unlikeable.
@SliversRebuilt2 жыл бұрын
@@Wveth ...especially at the end? Like, the part where you actually find out what he *was* responsible for in the war? Now personally as a civilian I have no right to judge him nor do I; but I'm willing to bet that if you ask 10 veterans about whether someone who behaved in the way that he did under fire is or ever could be "likeable," you will not likely get ten homogeneous answers. If anything he strikes me as less and less likeable throughout the storyline, although his redeeming quality is what appears to be a genuine and heartfelt dedication to some kind of atonement, which is something most people with any semblance of empathy generally respect on at least some level - at least, when it's actually acted on, which I think it's fair to say it certainly was in Cole's case (especially considering the other major thing which happens with him at the end, which I assume is what you're talking about, and does of course obviously make him more likeable) Although a lot of that has to do with the flashbacks/newspapers, so I suppose it's fair to say that Cole is really more and more likeable as time goes on *in the story,* but the player experiences someone who is at once becoming more likeable at the same time as he's becoming less likeable mostly (though not exclusively) for things that technically happened in *his* past.

TN v Garner was the famous civil case where it was decided that a police officer cannot shoot a fleeing, unarmed suspect unless there is cause to believe the suspect would create a serious, immediate threat of injury or death to those around him. So Charlie was probably right that his actions were standard procedure in the 40s. If anyone has old standard regulations for LAPD in the 40's I'd love to see them.

The acting, the writing, the locations, the connection to real cases, the tech behind this game was sooo damn good. In fact, it was too good. And because the game just barely broke even, game studios never have been this ambitious since it was too much of a risk of going under. And it is an extreme shame

I think another thing I should note is that this came out on the PS3. What I'm saying is that it doesn't matter how much better the PS5 gets or what game consoles arrive in the future, if game studios aren't even willing to achieve goals like whatTeam Bondi did in 2011, what's the point of getting a PS5.
@vedantbhard2 жыл бұрын
@@Maxmulham That's a very fair point. The number of truly great AAA games has decreased a lot in recent years. I think a reason for that is the corporatization of the video game industry, where developers are forced to speedrun making games and skip polishing it, causing terrible products like battlefield 2042. But there are a few studios that seem to consistently push the boundaries and make great games, like Arkane Studios and Rocksteady. However, it seems a lot of the most popular games in recent years were made by indie devs, and that's where the future of gaming lies at the moment.

This game's ending is so out of left field that it adds to the charm. We're presented with a very, very serious game until the final chapter just decides it needs to be as goofy as possible. Unironically one of the very few games I'd give a 10/10. It's perfect, it's funny, it's wacky, every serious moment can be ruined by being hostile towards everyone. You can fail every case and still get the promotion. One of the best games ever created and definitely the best detective/crime game ever.

Just played la noire for the first time a few months ago. And while I never finished it, how far did get into the game makes me think that yes, LA noire is in fact, a masterpiece...

I loved playing this game back in the day. Wished it got a sequel. With a few simple polishing to the gameplay, it would be even better

Easily one of my most favorite video games ever. The story telling and the detective work was done so well. I really liked Cole’s controversy with us and the public in the game. The atmosphere was relaxing and nostalgic. 100/10

I think they should make a better quality one with more storylines! That’d be the highlight of 2022!

The facial animations are honestly better than 99% of the games now, they are pretty stunning still to this day. Thats…. Pretty bad, considering how old this game is.

I get where you’re coming from bc it still looks insanely good but you’re mistaken. It’s not “facial animations” per se. they fully scanned the actor’s heads. You can see behind the scenes footage demonstrating this tech. No game has ever used this tech before and probably never will. It’s highly expensive and time consuming. Don’t forget that this game was announced all the way back in 2004

Yeah, it’s a really good game. Only thing I was disappointed about was that weirdly enough it wasn’t the “police simulator” that I was wanting it to be. But it still turned out really cool
