37:30 The problem with targeted ads is the fact that they store your information. No one thinks targeted ads are the end of times, but its like seeing a note in your bathroom saying "We just came by to wash your toilet" which sounds like a good thing until you realize they have unrestricted access to your house. They don't have bad intentions(yet), but they still have your info. It's up to them what they do with it. Just because you gave your info away thinking its being used for targeted ads doesn't mean you get to erase it when they decide "Hey, I want to give it to the government." Just like Kaya said, they have all your information but they don't know who you are as a person. They might know your name and what you look like, but everything else is purely through your search history. Obviously, if you're looking at creepy shit you're a creepy person, but in the case of that Runescape guy all the circumstantial info was used to create a false narrative. He made a death threat on a game, they search his house, they find criminal stuff on his computer(because his family studied criminal law), and he's in jail for threatening domestic terrorism. That's even worse for Charlie since he makes videos on weird shit. Imagine if someone accused him of a sexual crime, and in court they bring up his search history of sexual things like incel subreddits, pick-up artists, fleshlights and poop cakes, they'd think your a sexual deviant and put you in prison. They don't care about context because they think that info is the be all end all for evidence.
@mrshmuga9

Targeted ads are hilariously stupid. I’ll get ads for similar or literally the same product AFTER I buy it. Hey Amazon, if I wanted two of something I would’ve selected “x2” five seconds ago.

You guys actually just came up with a really lucrative business type tbh. Famous bands doing personalized shows at a tiny venue, you pay 20, maybe 30 bucks a person. Each person gets like a beer or a shot or whatever, the band plays 3-4 songs at random (takes 15-20 minutes depending on the genre) and afterward the fans could have a very close personal feeling Q&A for 15 minutes due to the small room, then you move to the next group. I honestly think that's an interesting idea.

The reason that they can’t directly stream new films to people, is that there was a law passed in the last century in the u.s which put an end to the studio system. The film companies cannot control the exhibition of film . That falls to theaters. Streaming straight to homes via a film studio subscription would be breaking that law.

I'd actually unironically buy little cutesy youtuber characters that stacked together like a human centipede. The KZbinrs I like with unreliable upload schedules would be towards the back, and if a KZbinr got involved in some kind of petty drama, I would move them straight to the back from wherever they were in the line. It really only applies to Event Cinemas specifically, there are plenty of cinemas in QLD that are under $10 for tickets and have good seats etc. you can even drink in some of them. The one I frequent in Brisbane is $5.50 for tickets, has leather reclining seats and usually only about 15mins of ads.

Kaya is 100% right about being worried by surveillance online, sure it may seem innocent the way it is used right now and can even be genuinely done with noble intentions, but with such knowledge only growing more precise with time they will eventually accrue insane power over people and at that point human corruption could weaponize such insights into our way of thinking and reacting to influence and control individuals beyond simple profiteering

Ticketmaster screwed me over like two weeks ago. Got tickets for a show for my grandma. Bought them, had the confirmation email, all of it. Two days before the concert, they emailed me and apologized, saying that my tickets weren't mine anymore. What? Got a refund, but still.

Happened with me with the tickets i bought for my parents except the artist died a week before he had to perform. Had to dispute it with the bank cause Ticketmaster wouldn't refund it, lol

Damn, cinema sounds like hell! In Lithuania a ticket cost 8 Euros or 7 euros if you're buying them online. And the ads are like 15 minutes and all of them are just movie trailers. The only down side is that the popcorn is like 4 euros...
