That’s a tall order for current society
@xX-fd2qj7 ай бұрын
The behavior is rational on the surface but all I can think is that it's not gonna mesh well with the current mental health crisis among adults. How many depressed people do we walk by each day that have so little hope that they'd think nothing of killing a child and their friends? I'd hazard a guess a lot more than we want to admit.
@nostrum87 ай бұрын
It becomes very difficult when the Gov sets rules for parents so that they can't enforce any useful punishment/consequences onto their own kids. Even the word consequences is NOT allowed to use in certain schools here. And no matter how bad the actions of your kids are... if you raise your voice it can be considered problematic and fall into child abuse. Basically the system in places like here wants to have hands off parenting and wants to create kids that feel like they can act out without any consequences. It's very sad and scary at the same time.

@luvhair2557 ай бұрын
@@tinacatz4217 A lot has changed, but while the generations had different kinds of role models, kids these days only have so many actual good role models that they can use as replacement parents. I think partly, parents can be more busy because of insane rising costs, but usually you see kids middle class and higher doing this because they think they will get away with it. When I was a kid, the rage was skateboarding, and urban skateboarding has always been in a similar place with a similar vibe. Usually it's kids from an abused home that have parents that either abuse/neglect them and refuse to take responsibility for it. Or it's fatherless kids from a single mom doing her best and she's overwhelmed with them. This last Halloween was terrible as someone that does interactive performance, and it was a combination of gen z/younger and boomers breaking my equipment and harassing people. The years before were 80% less of that, it's getting worse.

I work on a university campus and some 12-14 year old streamers come through every weekend and ride through the building on their skateboards. We have asked them repeatedly to stop as they often interrupt events going on, but they refuse and continue coming into the building despite campus security now being involved. One time my manager was able to confiscate one of their skateboards when they came in (cause at this point they are trespassing and this is their only quick escape), and this kid threw a legit tantrum and hopped over her desk to grab it back from her. He called her several slurs and threatened her just like the little shits in this video. It’s seriously infuriating and these kids have no clue how to navigate society and mind their own business.

And our other selves will either be completely different from who we are here, or never be born at all). We're in the best timeline possible, as disappointing and horrific as it is. One of the difficult things about these situations is that I see a lot of comments saying there should be an age limit before students could get a phone or have social media, I pretty much agree. But I have a little sister, far younger than me, she's in middle school right now, my mom won't allow her to have a cellphone until high school. But it's becoming more and more difficult to maintain that, because it seems like the school systems themselves are encouraging students getting phones at a young age. For example, she couldn't enter the middle school ASB unless she had a cellphone. She couldn't go on field trips unless she has access to a cellphone. It's really stupid, I hope we as a society will slowly come to realize the consequences, and make smarter more careful decisions

3:09 I’ve had a similar incident and it’s the worst… I had a group of kids randomly run up to me and straight up started trying to pull me down to the ground by grabbing my legs. It’s embarrassing and you obviously can’t just “fight” them because they’re just kids, but it’s more than just super annoying because they could’ve literally made me fall by grabbing my legs. I almost lost my balance at one point and if I fell face first and could’ve broken my nose. Finally I kinda just snapped and grabbed one of the kid’s arms and looked at them in the face with a dead stare and said *”Stop.”* and the kid just kinda looked at me like “👁👄👁” and him and the rest of them all left.

@@kyletucker3811 well, no, that's just not how the legal system works. There is no "one size fits all" rule in these situations. You can still get arrested and charged, and then you have to go through the incredibly draining process of arguing self defense. Even if you have a good case, no one wants to go through the legal system to get to that point. There simply is no guarantee when you're dealing with police discretion and prosecutorial discretion, so often it is better to be safe than sorry.

The most difficult part about monitoring my kid’s internet usage is that as soon as she’s out of my sight it’s a friend’s phone or a friend’s TV/computer. All you can really do is explain calmly and rationally explain what isn’t good for them and why, and even if they don’t understand now, they’ll have the knowledge for later. If you make your kid’s life miserable over what catches their interest they will likely double down. Where is this kid’s parents? Clearly absent, whether it’s work, drugs or booze.
@onechippyboi7 ай бұрын
In my town if you do this I know exactly how this goes down: person you harrassed will yell out, "get that kid, he just put his hand in my food!" And then you'll have multiple full grown men chasing, grabbing and restraining them, and then youre gonna get lectured and grilled while they wait for the cops. I dont know where that was streamed but nobody was interested in helping that woman. Side note, there needs to be laws that impose much harsher punishments if someone breaks the law intentionally for the sake of entertainment. Any fine or sentence should be doubled. My opinion is that the people who make this content are profiting from it, and committing crime for profit is generally much worse. For example, vandalism is common but usually the perpetrator has nothing to gain from it, but filming yourself vandalizing something and making money from the content... I would want that person to face much harsher consequences if I was the victim of their vandalism. Edit: I was very sauced up when writing this comment and don't necessarily agree with my stances on legal changes. I don't believe any legal change is necessary, instead I would stress that cultural attitudes change where people are not afraid of suffering grievous legal repercussions for correcting this sort of behavior. If a kid wants to be a punk, someone else should be able to rough them up and not suffer assault charges or face repercussions for doing the "parenting" that the kids were not afforded. In translation: talk shit, get hit. Sorry for any confusion or disagreements.

We all hopped the gate out except one friend who was still climbing it. The man kicked the gate to throw off his grip on the fence, he grabbed him by the lapel, and dragged him back to the office. Where he called the police and my buddy got in serious trouble for trespassing. Of course that doesn’t add up to touching someone’s food and assaulting someone, but it’s evidence that there are consequences and that some adults will indeed use force.
