That would have been cool ngl but I think it's better we never actually see Scooby and Shaggy lighting it up. Idk. It's one thing to know it's happening but to see it...idk. It'd kinda lose the magic of it. The show would definitely work though...probably better than Velma. That being said, Velma isn't that bad. Am I a fan of the race change? No. Is it the best at everything it does? No. Honestly speaking though, it does do things right. The animation is good, the hallucination scenes good, the mystery/ mysteries have potential to be actual mysteries and not "here's some information after we've unmasked the criminal that we didn't give you before so you could try and figure it out", and the action is well done (like when Fred sliced off the guy's foot (a bit of a spoiler but if you haven't watched the show and this makes you interested, you still won't know when it happens until it happens). Would Fred do that normally? No. The characters aren't Scooby-Doo characters, they only have the names and wardrobe. Velma isn't a Scooby-Doo show though and it's not calling itself one. I think it's pretty cool though. I'd say watch it and just roll with what they give you and don't expect Scooby-Doo (if you haven't checked it out yet).

Well that's because the 20-something year old writers writing shows today were the 10-something year olds writing fanfiction last decade. The “””joke””” of “420 is code for adults who still watch cartoons” is one of the most bizarre, self-sabotaging, and just downright malevolent attacks by a studio on their own fanbase. The show is literally a CARTOON made for ADULTS, meaning that the writers felt extremely comfortable about casually insulting everyone their show is intended to entertain. I’ve seen shows and other projects disappoint, anger, and even insult their own targeted demographics, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen a situation like this where a piece of media will personally attack every single person who will or would’ve ever watched it. How good, quality animated shows on steaming services like Netflix can get cancelled without a second thought, while animated shows like Velma which is written by people who openly hate the medium of animation in their own cartoon can get made is a mystery to me. At least everyone I’ve seen on Twitter is rightfully hating on it.

It’s annoying bc they mock and pick at the original characters and push all these ideas onto them. Completely removing their real characteristics. Like Fred being a team worker, productive, brave. Or Velma being smart but not having a complex about it. ignoring their actual qualities. They all had a good team dynamic and a good relationship. Representation fails terribly when it’s forced. It’s basically saying “we’re being different to be different”
@Alan-wj5zc Жыл бұрын
This isn't a critique about the show then, you are complaining that they aren't the original characters which is clearly what the director was going for. Now if you want to rail on the director and producers for taking old beloved characters because they are lazy and risk-adverse then you've got an argument. Even so they aren't the original cast, so having flawless characters in a pilot does not make sense. It would kill any opportunity for character growth. Why even bring up diversity? Velma being brown is not a flaw of the show it has no bearing on the show really. You know this because if Velma was the original Velma the show would still have poor pacing, poor meta jokes, poor storybeats.
@shortznig2938 Жыл бұрын
@@Alan-wj5zc who said anything about Velma being brown was a flaw? If the original Velma had a show, it would still be great as long the writing isn't as bad as this. But then again the bar of this show seems to be unbelievably low.
@doggishcat8309 Жыл бұрын
Damn, you'd think they'd realize it'd actually be great to have a character who's a smart black girl and proud of it, but there's this weird fixation writers have these days with making young adult characters insecure.
