Great video as always of one of my favourites. For those that may drink many you can pre mix your honey syrup and ginger syrup at the 1:1, which will be easier to measure 3/4 oz instead of 3/8 oz of each. Or, which I prefer, is once the ginger is grated/juiced I add 2 part honey to 1 part ginger juice. That makes my honey/ginger syrup without the use of any extra sugar. Pure bliss.

Those are my go to bourbon for a ‘house whiskey’ - any of three will be perfect for mixing. Rye will add spicier notes whilst the bourbon will be sweeter and is more prevalent in recipes so I’d start there... you could substitute one for another when first starting, no probs 👌

Why straining over fresh ice is important? Why not use the same ice the drink was shaken with? Is it just the aesthetics and for the looks?
@MrKniIlz5 жыл бұрын
As far as I know there are 2 reasons: 1. Yes the looks. Considering you are bartending for an other person, you want to offer the best experience possible. Fresh Ice Cubes are just larger and not shatterd. And in my opinion dumping in the old ice cubes and some of the cocktails splashes out of the glass isn't as appealing and elegent, as just using new ones. Doing a cocktail for yourself and you dont mind this it doesnt matter. 2. The used cubes are already smaller in size so you tend to have not enough ice in the finished cocktail, what helps watering down the rest of the small ice cubes. Whilst using fresh ice in the glass and you put enough in it, its not gonna dilute as fast. You can find evidence for this in some KZbin experiments where they measure the temperature. If you put plenty of Ice Cubes in the shaker in the first hand there might be no difference but I don't know.
@matthewgodwin46265 жыл бұрын
When you shake ice, it breaks apart into little pieces and it’s really not appealing to try drinking a cocktail with tons of ice shards in it lol. And the above reasons too.
