Thanks for video . Any idea why i have so much play in my handle at the joint? Is there any washers that would go on the end of the handle screw? thanks for any help

yes , when i took the main gear out , the bearing came with it on the shaft. I guess it should come off the shaft, but i cant get it off, and it is not rusted at all. maybe that is some of my problem the handle being so loose. The handle tightens up good when you screw it in, but it is where the knuckle is on the handle, that turns out way to much when you trying to reel in. This is a 1st gen 5000. Do the handles where out where the knuckle joint is? Thanks for your help, just trying to diagnose this problem so i can put this reel back together

@@KA-sk6pwHi, unlikely that handle wore out at the joint. Bearing on which side? Left or right. You should rarely, if ever, have an issue with the right side bearing stuck to the MG. What parts do you recommend replacing to make the reel smooth again? I took my reel apart but after reassembling it feels rough. I am thinking to order a new main gear, but maybe pinion gear and crosswind gear as well? Thanks!

Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to reach out. Well, that depends..... does it feel different than when you took it apart, or is that the reason you took it apart to begin with? How do the gears look/feel? Pitting, breaking down.... feeling gritty to the touch? Does the crank feel like it's tight, grinding, etc?

@@TSGReelService Thanks for your reply! The reason I took the reel apart was salt water, it was sitting about 20 minutes in the water. After disassembling it, the bearings appeared completely fine,if i take the main gear out it spins freely and without any additional noise. when i was reassembling the reel back i did not do it properly and got to a point when main gear and shaft stuck (cross wind block screws got under main gear and it was not possible to unscrew). I managed to take it apart, but bent the main shaft slightly. Main gear visually seems ok. I ordered a new main shaft, but after i re-assembled the reel it feels like the gears are not aligned, it cranks not tight, but kind of grinding.

@@andreih1167 No worries. The main gear is probably damaged, despite you not seeing any. However, try varying the shims on the main gear first to see if that helps. The crosswind gear is probably okay. Be sure to also check the grove in the block for wear/damage.
