Outstanding video! I’ve had this reel for many years, and I thought I had done a half decent job of maintaining it, until I found your video and got it torn down properly. Thank you so much for doing this video.

Thank you so much for this video. I found one of these reels walking on the side of the road, somebody tossed it out for the recycling to take. Picked it up and bam! God bless you dude. Also managed to snag a 705z but you dont have a video for that one.

You're welcome and thanks for watching! Glad to hear I could help. You know the saying.... one man's trash.... some people just don't get how good these reels are. GREAT Video! Could not have done this without you! Parts of my reel were crusted together so I never got a good understanding of the gears and clogs(?) under the reel. Really appreciate your putting this out there! Liked/sub and comment, least I could do!

Hey, great video! I have a two 750ss that need a lot of love so I am wanting to service them myself. Can you tell me what type of oil and greases you recommend? I have seen you use two greases and an oil on this video. Also, where do you recommend sourcing the new drag washers and what do you use to degrease and clean all the components before assembly?
@TSGReelService4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have my personal preferences for grease/oil. You can use any that is designated for use in reels. You can find Penn parts/drags at mysticparts.com. Regarding cleaning methods, I use a myriad of things... you can view my other videos to see some of them. I'll also be doing a documented cleaning and rebuild of a 9/0 at some point in the future.... after work slows down. Good luck and spread the word!

Awesome video! Can’t wait to take mine apart now. Any chance you know where’s the best place to buy the drag washers at? Also, any chance you know the bearing type or sizes. I lost the drag washers when I attempted this years ago. Now that I still have some time with this Quarantine I can do this peacefully. Thanks in advance!!

On the screw in the reel handle, soak the crap out of it for a couple of weeks. Use Aerokroil. And spray it weekly and be patient.

I have a slight problem after my reassembly. Now for some reason the bail hits the handle. Any idea how to fix this?
@TSGReelService3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! If everything's installed correctly, it sounds like you have a bent bail. You can try reshaping it until it doesn't hit anymore (usually bending the bail the bail wire upwards slightly will do the trick on these reels, but be careful not damage the bail arm or line roller assembly in the process), or you could purchase a new bail wire. Hope that helps.

The handle on my 7500 SS won’t fold, and the screw is super tight any suggestions to free up the handle so it folds?
@TSGReelService8 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. First, you have to remove the from the reel. Then you can soak the elbow in oil. Didn't work? Heat up THE ELBOW to about 150F, then put it in the freezer for a couple of hours..... repeat a few times while oiling after each freezer extraction and heat treatment.... should work. Keep trying to flex the handle after each round.... you can screw it into the reel to help facilitate this, but be careful.
@mikekarpiak52868 ай бұрын
@@TSGReelService The collar is really on there it’s not budging but I’ll keep repeating the process thx ! Appreciate it !
@TSGReelService8 ай бұрын
@@mikekarpiak5286 Yes, it can be a tough one to break.... lots of salt and subsequent corrosion happens inside there if you don't regularly play with the handle bend or service them.... even washing them down after every trip doesn't always help. You can try directly heating the collar and pivot and spraying it down with oil to help it penetrate and break up the corrosion, but it's tricky if you've never done it before. I'm hesitant to show how it's done on video, as there's lots to be left in interpretation, as every situation is different, but here's a video from an OG that shows something similar if you want to try (focus on the heating part and be sure to oil the pivot from both sides.... several attempt may be needed): kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5CZfYqGmJqmmtk
