Best reel I've found for striped bass on the New Jersey shore. I have used the V 7500 LC since late-2016. The Spinfisher VI just was introduced and I have one of those since late-September. The VI is subtly different from the V in appearance and like its predecessor can cast a long way especially if there's slack wind or a west wind. In my two months experience with the VI 7500LC it's been trouble free, has gotten saturated a few times and just shrugs it off. Best casting I've ever achieved in magic hour when the wind is dying. I'm regularly getting out past the outer sand bar and this allows me to thread the lure into the schools of bass (mostly shorts so far this season) feeding in the troughs. Excellent reel.

Would this reel be good for fishing off the pier? Im not trying to catch anything specific I just use shrimp as bait
@TralfazConstruction2 жыл бұрын
@@blonded3598 No. I believe you'd be better off with a bait casting reel. Those are actually little winches. If you are fish from a pier you would need something that would crank and lift a heavy fish out of the water. You'll need a stout rod to handle the lifting and 30 pound braided line.

Nice review...i fish along the georgia coast and bought this reel to reverse surf fish...that is move the boat just outside the breakers and cast towards shore...i mated this to a prevail 8 foot rod (any longer is a hassle from the boat) and it really does cast a country mile and allows me to range just about anywhere there are fish...and out distances my other SSVs...and is lighter than my penn torque spinner...a great product...

Looks very, very similar to the Penn SurfBlaster 8000 that Self-destructed on me three times in one season before I upgraded to the Spinfisher V series. Here's hoping that Penn used more rugged materials on the inside of the long cast V and not just the outside.

zeno you never did a follow up on this reel. will that be something that yu will be filming in the future
@trex14487 жыл бұрын
This is too big for surf fishing around here. They need longcast for 5500.

Awesome Zeno, thanks for sharing. I had one of the original V that was a pretty good reel but like you said.. wasn't safe to fully submerge it. Had to take it apart a few times to clean out the water after having done so. But definitely a good mid-level option for those guys that are usually dry but need distance (I expect this to be a hit for the Cape Cod Canal guys that cant afford the more expensive long cast systems from Shimano). I suppose as long as you dont mind having to clean it every few days, this could be a great september & october reel when the nor'easters come through and you need every bit of distance you can get trying to cut through the head winds?? Obviously those are THE harshest conditions so the real would have to be cleaned every 3-4 outings to keep it from seizing though.

something worth mentioning... the long cast 7500 has 15 lbs less drag compared to the regular 7500 spin fisher.

Flatheadfletch: I found a 'bargain' 12 footer, Okuma Rockaway 1200M that suits the 7500 or 750 series like a glove. Even after using it for a month now it's as new. Also, even if it were to prove to be 'disposable' (worn out after, say, one hard season) it would still be a formidable surf fishing rod.

Excellent video! Can i use the long cast version for shore jigging/surf spinning without problems?

Looks good and everything sounds like my dream reel. Why did they even up the price? It's the same.

Literally share maybe 5 parts if you actually looked at the schematics

How come this 7500 looks smaller than the Okuma 5500? Fill me in.

Hi, besides this reel which one would you recommend me for heavy surf fishing, (meaning I some times dunk it in to the water, and I target big fish too)
@dhoary28 жыл бұрын
This is the best for water protection though it's not meant for dunk but would hold good enough , don't get near shimano ultegra for this regard at all .

noob question here... Is this reel too big for a 7' rod?
@dhoary28 жыл бұрын
This reel would suits surf rods from 10' upwords.....

Only thing I don't like about 7500 long cast is the drag I think it's only 20 or 25 lb
@lachlanoneil89385 жыл бұрын
Bro what are you trying to catch that's alot of drag, your rod probably can't even take the amount of drag it has.

I want to use this reel for freshwater stripers. That's the only reason why I would want it. For saltwater I would go with Manetic Seal Doggy Fighter or Van Staaly.... Just saying. Don't take a knife to a gun fight homie.

***** Good review mate. This is what I was looking for b/c I read but don't have. I like the way you break things down with no nonsense. I always heard from reading that Stellas are not what they make out to be...and you just saved me and people a bunch of money. Thanks.

Didn't they say there are issues with Torque...I mean they had to redo the whole reel?
@megasif9 жыл бұрын
Torque was the only reel I like for thequality look and the gold factor. Don't like the price all that much but it's okay. When I found out they've redone the reel, I thought they don't know nothing about fishing and I lost my trust. I never liked Stella over what people say. I like the Van Staal but I think is is overly rated so this leads me to two; The Spin Fisher V Long Cast or the Saltiga with magnetic seal. I like the Saltiga but it's a bit pricey for just the added magnetic seal. I like reels like the Torque with option for manual bail trip. In fact, I like manual b/c I like to close my own bail and I don't like to loose lures. Saltiga does this. Spin Fisher V won't until the Long Cast came along as I can recall from YT videos. Everything about the LC seems and screams right. Use may prove otherwise. I don't know.
