Congratulations, Dave. I always enjoyed your coverage and analysis of Penn State. The great journalists are the ones who fairly tell it like it is based on how they see it, not how they think people want to hear or read it.

Have been following David Jones forever. I graduated Penn State in 1988, and since have been following the Lions by distance via his dispatches. I've always appreciated Jones' brutal honesty. He'll be greatly missed!

Definitely appreciate Dave for his balanced reporting. There's not a lot of people on the beat who have the balls to question James Franklin and its a shame because in the elite programs there are more of the elite reporters like Dave that question the HC . Thanks for your years of service covering penn state football

Always fun reading/watching you guys, you made a great team. Dave, enjoy retirement, and the extra time with family and Keiser. I always appreciated you asking the tough, unpopular questions and the willingness to cover the less-than-pleasant side of PSU and college athletics. I always shared your podcasts and post-game videos among my circle of Penn Staters. You left the job in good hands with Bob, John, and Dustin. With you moving on can I assume Bob may have gotten a bump in pay with the new hair? Enjoy and Be well.

I'm a young fogey (55yo) who's kept watching college football - mainly PSU - despite a strong dislike for the coaches' obscene salaries, the transfer portal, the NIL money, the bowl game opt-outs, the blaring music and giant digital video screens in stadiums, etc. One reason I've retained some interest is because of Jones' colorful old school journalism, an increasingly endangered species. Now that he's retiring I might too.

OUCH! I knew Your you were getting close. Been reading your columns and opinions religiously since the early days of Tim Biedel Penn State Hoops. Agree with Bob, definitely the most talented writer in the Penn Live offering of writers. Had a high percentage of agreement with your opinions. When I didn't, you were mostly right but perhaps a bit more caustic than I felt was necessary. That was part of the Dave Jones repertoire. Your recollections of Penn State history, sports history and even American history demonstrated a background that few rival. Your departure is going to leave a void. Best to you and your family in a long, healthy retirement.

Congrats to Dave, big loss to the PSU media following community of the one person that was always going to ask the direct questions on the real topics that we're all really wondering about. We don't have a number of those like some of the major college football markets do. I can foresee future moments where we'll all miss that Dave wasn't there to ask that one question that really needed to be asked. Best of luck in your next chapter.

Grew up in PA following PSU, but my family moved to the mid-south my senior year, so I went to a college in Western Tennessee. It's funny the way the south thinks about their football teams, and their views on the Big Ten and anywhere else for that matter. Anyway, I can't stand "Lame" Kiffin with the way he left Tenn to go to USC. Then he had to beg Saban to get a job at Bama. He is a cry baby, but, unfortuntaely, he IS also a very good coach. Ole Miss has always been a rivalary, and some how they get kids to go to school there, must be the food, the campus escorts, the hottie totties, I don't know. I've been to Oxford and there isn't anything there, so go figure. Anyway, have followed PSU all my life, and will continue to follow them. Something has to change cause the way the opting out by NFL hopefuls is killing the bowl games, i.e., Ohio State, Florida State, etc. Feel bad for our team, but as they say, there is always next year.
