Homecoming weekend in 1996 saw the Lions play solidly against the visiting Boilermakers of Purdue. The key in this game was that Penn State controlled the line of scrimmage early on, to build a comfortable lead. The ground game was led by Curtis Enis, who also did quite a bit of damage as a pass receiver. And on defense, there were a few highlight plays that stymied Purdue's running game as the Boilermaker's just didn't seem to be in-sync.
Penn State's Top Performers:
Curtis Enis: 23 carries, 83 yards, 3 TDs .. 7 catches, 94 yards
Chris Campbell: 1 catch, 11 yards .. 1 punt return TD
Brandon Noble: 2 quarterback sacks
Penn State wins its 6th game of the season with only one loss at this point. Purdue returned to the loss column after having won its previous 2 games, for a season record of 2-4. The Boilermaker's finished 1996 with a 3-8 record, good for 8th place in the conference.
