P & T knew that because they said there was no switch. Now figure out how to do it with only one real egg and one handkerchief if there never was a fake egg. The real trick is where the hell did the handkerchief go because his hands were never out of view. Their only guess was whether that was a real cracked egg inside the glass so once that was confirmed they had no clue. Sleight of hand alone doesn't explain it either.

@@MsCartman74 Yeah, the most straightforward way to do this trick is to swap out the fake egg for a real egg. But Penn & Teller didn't see any such switch happening, and if they didn't, I'm certainly not going to either. So that's not how it was done. But... Yeah, I have no clue.

@@MsCartman74 I believe he only said that was real egg inside the glass. Might have been a fake egg half empty to store the handkerchief and half full of a real egg inside...and that's why he struggled to crack it open

@@gguery That's the only thing I can figure (not that I'm an expert; I get fooled all the time, which I don't mind at all). A real egg inside a gimmicked egg shell that allows for the kerchief to get stuffed into the top.

Great trick. My deduction is that it is a eggshell like structure that has two parts. A sealed one with egg insides (at the bottom) and another empty with a hole that he puts the cloth in at the top. So at the end with the egg reveal, you can see that the yolk comes out runny. But yolks are proper when you crack an egg, they are not blended in the white. Hence he "stuffed" the half with egg insides from a real egg. But he also "dumped" the evidence in the glass. Hence why he said yes it is real egg in the glass, BUT theres also the fake part too!

My guess is that he had a plastic half shell with a hole in the top that went behind the real egg. Notice the way he holds the egg throughout the routine. When he cracks the egg, it seems that he palms something and keeps it covered as he grabs the handkerchief. Then when he wipes his hand with the napkin, it looks like he is ditching the half shell in the napkin.

@@nudsh the way he holds the egg makes me think there never was a fake egg, he just said there was but really knows how to fold the bandana tightly and hold it so it looks like it is completely hidden in the egg, just a good old fashion lie/misdirection and selling it really well. watch it again with this in mind. the whole time after he "pulls out" the bandana he has a finger on it to keep it secure.

my guess, at 2:31, he grabs and conceals a REAL egg in his hand while presenting an especially thin bandana (of which will fold into a very small size) hanging out of his closed, seemingly "empty" hand. it is possible there is something sticky prepared on one end of the bandana to the back of the egg to make things easier, but if not, even more impressive handwork. i noticed that he's very careful to never let go of a grip near the bandana, because it's not actually safely inside the egg when he pushes the bandana into his hand, he pushes it towards the back of the egg where he can bunch the entire bandana up into a small ball as to appear like it has been stuffed into the egg by 3:34 where his index finger is holding a bunched up bandana. the egg is real the entire time. he never displayed how strong it was, he only appeared to pull the ribbon out of a "hole" on the back, which i believe he is artifically presenting as being pulled out of some kind of hole, when he is actually unfolding it from the pinched bunch it in order to make it appear like it is being stuffed inside of something, then seemingly pulling it "out" of the egg, which is really just unbunching the ribbon straight. at the end, he simply cracks the egg into the cup, which surprises those who were convinced that the egg was plastic just because he said so. very impressive performance, and nice job for fooling them!

@@jonmayer yup it appears to be entirely a power of suggestion trick. i'm actually quite amazed that it fooled them as i have trouble figuring out some seemingly simple tricks, but i guess all it took was them missing the initial egg and bandana grab. it is quite funny and impressive how he convinced Penn and Teller that there might have been a switch between a real and fake egg (Penn saying "we didn't see a switch") when there never was :P

@@deecook8393 i personally don't believe so. i think there's no hole, and that every time it *looks like* he is stuffing the bandana in the egg, he's bunching it up and pressing it against the back of the egg with a finger, and every time he "pulls it out", he's unravelling the bunch while pinching with 2 fingers as to create the illusion of a "hole" to pull the bandana out of. if you think about it, if there was a hole in a real egg, i would imagine that there might be a sign of a leaking egg, or egg matter on the bandana since it is later revealed to be a full egg with yolk inside. also he'd probably have to be incredibly careful not to further destroy the egg while performing, and by the time he cracked it, it seemed quite strong like a full real egg. the reason i believe there was no plastic egg, is because like Penn said, i saw absolutely no moment where a switch could have happened.

I think it's a fake egg, when it cracks, there is real egg and eggshell, but look at the glass, it's clearly a beaten egg. So the fake egg was made of real egg parts, but also had a hole in the back like he claimed.

I watch allot of Fool us and I have even caught things that Penn & Teller missed. This is one of only a handful I missed everything and even with the power of rewind and pausing I can't find the switch. I think because it doesn't exist. Doing a amateur trick on stage is never a good idea. FAKING an amateur trick is absolute genius. Caleb, amazing job. My guess: It was always a real egg, made an hole, removed some white then put something(like a cut balloon) to allow the scarf partly in, but without spilling or dirtying the red scarf. He was always very careful to keep the egg up, even took extra time to pick it up. Then at the end, removed the scarf with whatever made the shield, then cracked the egg and destroyed the shell to remove any evidence. My guess :D

That is my thinking too. It was always a real egg and the red scarf did go into it. it is amazing how little space those things take up. I thought Caleb might have made an effort to make it 'look' like he made a switch to fool them but he didn't need to.

I can't believe the magician on Penn & Teller's show managed to fool them with just an egg! I watched it over and over and couldn't spot any switches or sleight of hand either. It's amazing how skilled some magicians are at creating illusions and misdirection. I guess that's why Penn & Teller are always looking for new and innovative acts to showcase on their show. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

My guess is that it is a real egg the whole time. Caleb just bunched up the bandana and make it look like it's stuffed inside the egg, when it is not inside the egg at all. The misdirection is getting P&T to look for the switch, which never happened. Great job, Caleb.

I think you're right. At the end when he pulled the bandana "out" of the egg, it looks like it was just stuck to the back and came off, not from inside the egg. The bandana is a really thin material, so you could really bunch it up and be tiny on the side of the egg

It was apparent that you never stuffed the egg and that you had adhesive on the back and simply practiced how to perfectly pretend to stuff it "in" when in fact, it was just hidden underneath the rest of the silk!! Marvelous, simplistic!! Sometimes that's the way to blow everybody's mind!!!! Kudos!!! And the egg was pulverized by your crack method so no one would really ever be digging out little shell pieces to find the sticky parts all covered with egg!!👍👍

you are holding the egg with your middle finger since your index is behind the egg holding the cloth, then when grabbing with the other hands thumb you can see the index finger come into view. I am really surprised this simple trick fooled them but good on ya

That was great! Dunno if this is right, but this is how I would do it... Get 2 eggs, Cut hole in one, and pour out egg, make hole big enough to fold a scarf. Put egg back in the shell, then use the shell from the second egg, (and some glue) to create a watertight barrier, keeping the liquid egg in the bottom half, and the top half clean and dry, and spacious enough for the bandana. Penn did ask if both the egg and shell in the glass was real, so it had to all be constructed out of egg shells... meaning wow... one wrong move, pushing the bandana in too hard (maybe why he did it quite slowly) and the whole thing would come apart in his hands literally.

I think he always has the real egg inside of the hand and he is just pretending to stuff the bandana inside it. I think the bandana can be folded very thin or can glue to itself and to the egg or something similiar. Look closely, I think at 3:36 the bandana is not inside the egg but on it.
