Pennsylvania man escapes chest-deep water in home during flooding from Debby's remnants

Shane Davis of Tioga County, Pennsylvania, was in his home when flash flooding quickly overtook him. His story is one of many in the northern Pennsylvania community of Westfield, where flash flooding from Debby’s remnants caused mass devastation.

My heart goes out to all affected by the flooding 😞 We went through that in my neck of the woods during Hurricane Ian in 2022. Took a month off of work to get everything out of the house, drywall and insulation removed four feet up, and get everything cleaned up and ready to rebuild. It’s a long process, some houses still sit unfinished. If you have flood insurance, contact NFIP; if not, contact FEMA. Take care y’all… 😇

If there has been housing or industrial park development nearby or "up stream" you have found your water divergence culprit, most likely. Development upstream, redirecting water, and flooding downstream where, "it had never happened before" is commonplace in areas that get developed without serious water management infrastructure to find a new home for the "run-off".

Omg it was really bad. We were route 6 at Phoenix run and pine Creek. This was in front of the bridge heading east right after Galeton. Right before Galeton PIne Creek that runs along rt 6 was destroying property and people scrambling to get their stuff as the water was rising to and some places over rt 6

There was flooding everywhere and so many people were affected, but those in Sarasota county, FL act like they’re the only ones who are affected by this hurricane and are demanding that someone do something about it. Someone needs to compensate them for their losses. Someone needs to be responsible, but other folks are just dealing with it and getting on with it and cleaning up.
