Oh man, I was smiling from ear to ear for the whole video! You really do an amazing job of capturing the beauty of the area you are exploring! It was really fun to watch a Walt Zolna video with myself in it! (yeah, I need to loose a few lbs...lol) The Golden Eagle Trail has been on my radar for years and was great to share it with you! Is The G.E.T. the best day hike in PA? I would say it's definitely "one" of the best with it's vistas, neat rock formations, creek side hiking with lots of small waterfalls and not to difficult to hike. The sky that night was brilliant! You got a great shot of the stars and Milky Way at the end of the video! The weather was near perfect and that campground at Tomb Flats was really nice. I loved how you put the ukulele 🎵🎶music at the beginning and ending. I've always thought Ukulele goes great with campfires! The song at the end was a uke version of the song "Guaranteed" by Eddie Vedder. He wrote it on guitar and fingerpicks it but I think it still sounds nice on uke while strumming. Thanks again for an awesome time Walt and l loved the video! 👍👍

It was all my pleasure Jeff. I agree , the GET has to be amongst the best hikes out there. For having never met before, I felt like I have known you for years by the end of the night. Agreed Tomb Flats was a pleasant surprise - I need to research where that name came from - I think hanging out after the hike was just as fun if not more than the hike itself! For me, probably one of the very best parts of the KZbin experience has been expanding my horizons and meeting Like minded hikers and nature enthusiasts such as yourself. It was a truly memorable experience on many different levels, cya on the next one buddy!

It's a shame they are all running dry with this historic drought we have been having. It has just stopped raining here, and now we are having wild fires. Very rare for Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately not Martin , never made it to the Wagonwheel. I will up in that area again for sure though as there are so many great trails and sights in that specific area of the PA Wilds. I may attempt to backpack the Black Forest trail next year for example...

I stop alot for filming purposes, but an average hiker with a moderate pace should be able to do this hike in about 5 -7 hours I would say. There was one steep ascent and descent in the beginning but overall the terrain was pretty easy in my opinion.

Oh yeah, that was a great little spot to hang out on the deck there. Maybe not a 5 star restaurant but definitely hit the spot after a 10 mile hike! Jeff's a nice guy, it was a pleasure to finally meet him in person.

Looked like a long day of hiking. Great area. Some pretty good views. Would have thought the dragons back would have been more exposed rock. Anyway pretty nice. Keep on adventuring my friend 👍🙂🙏
@WALTERZOLNAАй бұрын
I had hoped for a little more from the Dragon Back myself Dave. I still think it was worth doing though as the last leg returning on the Golden Eagle is a streamside hike very similar to the section along Wolf Run. Overall - vistas, rock formations, small falls little bit of everything...
@judywestenhoefer2807Ай бұрын
Hi, Walter! We were in the same area of Pine Creek about a week after you. We stayed in Cedar Run at the inn. We biked the rails to trails area you were in-Tomb Flats. A little trivia for you: just a short distance south of Tomb Flats is the Tomb family cemetery right at the edge of Pine Creek. There are over 20 Tombs buried there, many from the Civil War era. Years ago at Slate Run people used to watch bears dumpster diving, until they cleaned up the garbage issue. My husband's grandfather belonged to a cabin in the Beulahland. There used to be many many deer in the area, not many anymore. Great video! Thanks!
@WALTERZOLNAАй бұрын
Hey Judy, thanks for sharing all of that information. I'm assuming Beaulahland is the name of a town or community out in the woods there? Personally I would love to kayak Pine Creek and camp at several stops along the way,I think that would be so much fun. Beautiful country up there...

I missed you guys by about 3 days on this one, I would've loved to hike thru with you two. On beauland road, that will lead to the MST which I walked on a few days after you did. Since it didn't work out meeting you two, I ended up taking a different trail to reach the MST and that didn't work out very well ha-ha! Needless to say, I should've taken the GET. I'm pretty sure that was Slate Run you saw on that last vista. You had some good weather to enjoy this one and nothing like ending a hike with a cold one. See you on the trail, Walter.
