I hope Penny does well enough for a sequel as I can totally see them fixing all the issues of the first game in it. It just looks and feels great, it just needs a bit more polish in rough areas, but even without one it's still a great game!

​@edia1377 Boondocks and Avatar share animators, not writers. PBB was literally designed by the same dude who designed sonic mania, and is directly quoted as being inspired by Sonic. A realistic comparison would be if the writers from avatar released a new show about element benders that was "inspired by avatar". You think that wouldn't be compared to death? Anyway, with that terrible comparison aside, comparing two IPs does not bring either one of them down. Ya'll wildin out here freaking out that he dared to make the comparison.

Love almost everything about this game. I have to agree about the mascot though, really lacking any stand-out features to grab your attention. I feel this is still a genre starved for entries so it should grab enough attention to keep from totally flopping. I just fear that it takes money brought it from, say, the sonic casuals to warrant follow-ups.

I feel pbba is a game where once you get a hang of the controls it gets ten times better. At first it felt sluggish but after learning how to flow moves into each-other it reminded me a lot of Mario odyssey the way i would be platforming and using penny’s movement kit

This one is definitely going in my list. About speedy sonic inspired 3D platformers, there are quite a few around, one mostly has to know where to look as most entries are indie. Some recommendations on my part are the Toree entries and Spark the Electric Jester 2-3 (Jesters seem to be a thing nowadays).

This game definitely reminds me of old school Sonic since you have to both get good at your skills you get, while also memorizing and master the kevels to get faster and faster, the story is pretty under underwhelming so far but the gameplay more then makes up for it

the game seems charming but overall it feels a little too slow for my tastes, not enough schmovement either imo. glad i wasnt the only one iffy on the character designs too, penny just feels wonky and not in a fun way, and emperor eddie's entire concept feels boringly executed. Yeah he's actually a performer, but he feels like if kirby's creators decided to make Dedede human instead of a giant penguin. even with the hammer and wrestling stuff, wouldnt that just be one big blah? thats what I feel with eddie

I thought the game looked too slow im videos, but when playing efficiently and using all your moves, you can zip through levels crazy fast. Rolling on the yoyo is intensely satisfying

Agreed, there is some clunkiness, and I were to make one change to the game personally I would crank the speed up by a good margin like 25% at least.

@@thedoomprophet i think she’s really slow when on foot, but it makes sense from a design perspective for her to rapidly lose momentum in ground bc you often come into contact with airborne platforms at high speed, and if she was faster on foot, it’d be too easy to run off ledges. It’s a very tricky design choice. Idk i hope they do some slight tweaking or give new options but patches but as it stands the controls work great. Just have a weird learning curve

For me the game is ok, the only problem that ruins it for me is that it has happened to me many times that the character randomly freezes, that he randomly gets stuck with invisible walls, that during the battle against the clone it happened to me many times that it puts a spawn point that makes me die without being able to save myself in any way by throwing it directly under the map And also many times it happened to me that the completely random character walks past the floor as if he were in Minecraft spectator mode

6:50 Isn't that what you want as a threat in a speed-based platformer? 5:30 This isn't anything new, game's like Spark and most Sonic games have exploration and collectibles despite being speed-based platformers. In these games you're either playing for 2 things: speed or score. Plus exploring the level also helps you map-out routes later when it comes to the time-attacks.

The style and music of the game are AMAZING. The gameplay, however, is anything BUT. Holy crap the hit detection and just main controls are bloody awful, never mind the one-chance-only missions you get from the civilians.. Yikes. I love me some good 3D platformer, but this.. yeah, this ain't it chief. 6/10 from me.

I think the look is the game's biggest issue. Penny herself looks like shit, which is something you don’t want in a 3D platformer. The colors are a bit all over the place, and the designs of the other characters aren’t great either. I’m passing on this because I think looks are important too and there are other games I want to save my money for.
