hi there i’m in Gulf Breeze and i can honestly say that Skanska ruining our brand new bridge is one of the worst things to happen in our area since the oil spill. businesses in Gulf Breeze are already starting to suffer - just last week we had a McDonald’s close. the price of goods have gone up as well because it’s so hard to get out here. i hate to say it, but it’s only going to get worse...

Great video. It looks nice around there. Are there any state campgrounds where a person could pitch a tent? I like a place where I can take a shower and grab a breakfast. Had the company move the barges and the storm never developed into anything significant, and delays incurred, everybody would be complaining about the schedule not being kept. Also did you Coast Guard did not move those barges, private industry did.
@VitaminDeeTV4 жыл бұрын
Understand that this company was already 6mos or more beyond their completion date and people were already complaining. Now ask yourself, which outcome outweighs the other? A: Futher delayed completion date... Or B: A damaged bridge that is inoperable AND further delays...

How do you sue mother nature? owners of the barge will be responsible for the barge removal and it’s clean up . A salvage company could take it and make a profit. Railways being eroded by storm surge ? How is anyone responsible for that other than poor location of the rail system. I’m from Biloxi and Katrina destroyed coast. Grand casino was obliterated as well as Treasurer bay. Hwy 90 had chunks missing and washed away. Not to mention houses that were nothing but slabs and debris. Gulf Coast is unfortunately a target every year from a hurricane.

I bet the city pumps sand from offshore inland to fill beaches with new sand. It goes on everywhere and where the sand gets taken away from, it will make its way back to fill the void that was left in the ocean floor. Thank your local politicians if you live in a beach area that has has bad erosion problems.

@mediocrefloridaman4 жыл бұрын
@@VitaminDeeTV i beg to differ. Man plays God too often and you documented high levels of erosion. Seems like its a great deal for the sand pumping companies that have all those beach cities by the balls. You think the pumping will ever end? Think about what's being killed when they lay that new pumped sand onto the old beach sand. Think about what's getting sucked into those pumps off-shore. It doesn't matter until it matters.

Slap a salvage claim on it. I see no keep off or property of signs on it. Talk to a maritime lawyer about it and make yourself some money.
@John-tx1wk4 жыл бұрын
In order to have a salvage claim you have to actually successfully perform the salvage. I could be wrong but I don't think these guys have a tug to pull that barge off. Also the property being salvaged must be in "real danger" as defined by international maritime law. While this barge is clearly not supposed to be there I doubt the principle of real danger is met. The myth that one can walk up and down a coastline and claim salvage on washed ashore vessels, cargo, equipment, etc is just that, a myth.

Looking at your video, I used to swim in Pensacola and Choctawhatchee Bay and Sound in the 60's, the sound, bays and bayous around there were crystal clear shades of green and blue. Now they are a murky brownish color with a slight odor. You can watch the tide line at the beach as the bays empty out at times, a cloudy murky demarcation line as it moves down the beach, clearly visible...
@johnnystarspangle28764 жыл бұрын
@Brian Landers Been this way for years, runoff from homes, every square inch of waterfront is used. No particular event is responsible, just overpopulation that's all. Maybe one day they will have buffer zones along the coasts, ie no building within 1 mile of the water, idk.

Everyone that lives on the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Coast knows that hurricanes cause damage. We are in hurricane season. Strong storms can turn into a hurricane rather quickly. A hurricanes category can change quickly depending upon air and water temperatures. The construction company was negligent for failing to secure their equipment. Thankfully their negligence did not kill anyone, but it did cause catastrophic damages.

The city plays God by pumping sand from offshore to fill beaches that erode. That causes big depressions offshore that eventually fill back in lowering the shore more than it was to begin with. Sand pumping goes on all around Florida and the world and it's flooding small islands that were once occupied by villages.
