Ya, the lack of rematches when I lose an invasion combined with the long wait times for new matches even during prime time leads me to use very shady tactis. I will move positions fast enough to avoid getting auto tagged while camping a couple cheesy areas relentlessly, all without using the phones hoping the sniper won't notice the invasion. Very unfun for both of us. I used to just have fun trying to blend with the AI, now I gotta sweat just to do that so I use mines combined with map knowledge, to express frustration.

I once had an extended firefight with a invader, as in "I've run out of all ammo and have to disengage to grab more bullets" type that ended with an INCREDIBLY lucky sticky grenade from my part, it got stuck right on his head. we rematched, and he just decided to cross-map me lol, was more impressed than upset haha

I love these vids. I didn't play this game till I saw one the other day and I started playing just for this game mode. But I've noticed that nowadays when I get into the game tey just start camping. SInce they essentially have infinite traps they just trap every where and bog in. So I'll just put a rubber band on my controller and fine a spot to cricle to not get the camping notification and walk away and let them waste there time just sitting and waiting for me to never come.

The magnifications you get playing on authentic are closer to what actually existed in WWII. They've just exaggerated the zoom on lower difficulties to make it easier. USMC did have the Unertl scope with 8x magnification, that became standard issue on their M1903s, I think not long after the beginning of the war (it's the A1 scope in game). They weren't made available to the regular army though, just marines. The 10x A2 scope did also exist, but I'm not sure that one was actually used. The German scopes on authentic difficulty range from about 3x to 6x (the 12x scope used in this video is 6x on authentic), which is more realistic as their actual scopes were mostly 4x, apart from the ZF41 which was only 1.5x (I think that one is 2x in game).

As someone who has over 800 invading sniper yeagers killed, I honestly don't know how people get snuck up on and melaid. I've been snuck up on and shot from outside the focus distance. As someone who loves being invaded, I wish they would do a patch that shrinks the focus distance by a little bit when you're being invaded to make it harder to just hold down the focus button and find the sniper Jager when he's close.

Try changing your region, especially if you're not playing in the evening/at night. South America is usually a good one when Europe is quiet. Rarely ever have to wait longer than 10-20 seconds.

It's great when you enter a match and a couple of minutes pass with zero alerts anywhere on the map. Usually means you're up against somebody half decent (or a camper that just surrounds themselves with mines). The long drawn out battles are the most fun I have on the game. Not sure 30+ minutes of tactical trickery makes for the best KZbin video though.

In reality the Germans exclusively used 4 x scopes, with just a few 6 x. And the reticle of the scope is completely wrong as well.

the default stuff you are given for the invasions is a 6x scope. if you play it enough you can have longer range stuff though

On authentic difficulty, the best scope for the K98K is the ZF39 with 6x magnification, and for the Gewehr it's the ZF4 or PU with 3x (not sure why the ZF4 isn't 4x, because the same scope fitted to the MP44 is 4x). For the allied rifles, it's 10x for the M1903 (there was a scope that existed with 8x, though not sure about 10x or whether it was actually used), 6x for the SREM-1 and M1A, and 3x for the RSC 1918. They're all fixed at one magnification too, no zooming in/out. It's only on lower difficulties that you get stupid zoom. I think you have to give them some artistic licence, given they're making a game not a sim. In a lot of cases, they've gone with things that feasibly could have existed, rather than strictly things that actually did, and then stretched that a bit for the lower difficulties. That way, players get a bit more variation, rather than just 3 scopes that all have the same post reticle and similar zoom levels.

It shows where the other player is on the map. Allied players can use them whenever they like but the German phone operator gets suspicious after a while and shows the Axis player which phone was used. Axis player has to wait 5 minutes between uses.

When your location is revealed its just a random act of the programme. It's bloody annoying. I have had it within seconds of starting the game and continually over the course of the event. If the Allied sniper does use the phone his position is revealed as well and vice versa.

Karl gets 2 free uses of the phone (his location isn't revealed until the 3rd time), and can use it right from the start of the invasion. That's probably what you're seeing, although I have had it happen once against a Karl that was impossible to kill and seemed to have unlimited panzerfausts, so it could also be PC players cheating.
