So between Like This/Runaway (2017) and Dr Bebe - _Universe: The Black Hall_ (2020) you're missing 4 comebacks: Shine - _Positive_ (2018), Naughty Boy - _Thumbs Up_ (2018), Sha la la - _Geni:us_ (2019), and Humph - _Sum(me:r)_ (2019). All of these are largely self-produced, they also had some Japanese mini albums, _Violet_ and _Shine_ (2018) and had a huge world tour, _Prism_ in 2019. Fun fact: Positive, Thumbs Up and Geni:us mini albums were named to make the letters PTG Basquiat was Pentagon's final song on RTK but was not a comeback, Daisy - _We:th_ was the comeback after RTK.

dawn left in late 2018, both of these songs were released in 2020 and between them you still have naughty boy, shalala, humph! and hapiness (japanese). but not only dawn was “missing”, because yanan went on hiatus due to health issues (he came back last year for daisy) and jinho enlisted. for dr bebe they have a dance practice only with a metronome and i think they did that for daisy too (not sure), and you probably want to check out their stages for dr bebe because their stage presence is no joke, they want super hard for this one (especially kino and wooseok) last year was a start of a new era for pentagon music, with dr bebe as their first step. in rtk they stated how they learned to do the music they want to do and not what the general public expect to hear… and basquiat was born. i feel like after shine they had a huge weight in their shoulders because they couldn’t surpass what shine gave them, that’s why they worked so hard trying to fulfill the general public needs, but somehow it never worked because let’s be honest here: general public= no taste. so now they are free from that jinx! they do what they want and now they don’t expect too much of the outsiders and it worked! daisy and do or not did great!!! first #1 on a music show for daisy and do or not topped genie charts 5 times :) plus +100k for both albums. pentagon have universe and that’s the only thing that matters

Hui was inspired to write Basquiat by watching a documentary on the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, a really cool black American artist who did a lot of work around systemic racism and class struggles, and who was known for his 'unconventional' graffiti-style art. One of his signature symbols is this sort of sketchy drawn crown symbol (if you look up Basquiat crown you're probably familiar with it, it's been co-opted everywhere), so I see some really interesting connections that and the 'I make and put on the crown myself.' If others don't value your work, or think it's not good enough because it's different, just make your own crown. It's a very cool concept. Thanks for your reaction!

Dr Bebe is everything a dark concept should be. They pulled it off perfectly, and their acting?? It's what got me hooked, I became an official Universe after watching Dr Bebe stages and just being in awe with their stage presence and acting (especially with Kino). The behind the scenes of the making of this MV is really cool to see too, some members were so into their performance that they straight up cried while filming. From the top of my head it was Jinho and Yuto who cried, but I could be wrong or missing a member. Basquiat was an african-american artist who basically critisized society. He stood up for things and people who needed to be heard. Also, his most famous 'symbol' was a crown! Very fitting if you ask me. Pentagon talked about winning and losing, the shell of competition, and the meaninglessness of the crown. Basquiat was basically a big f u to MNET/RTK, it's actually still really funny to me why they were allowed to perform that song on RTK hahah. It wasn't an official comeback, the finale of RTK was all songs made especially for that final episode. I think ONF and ONEUS made it actual comebacks/part of an album, but Pentagon never did. It kinda explains the lack of views but it's still stupid how little people have seen this performance/heard this song cause it's so freaking good! Also just wanted to share this guide that got recommended to me on KZbin last night. It's veeeery long, but very good because of it (if you ask me). One of the better guides I've seen in a while... and yes, of course I watched all of it immediately hahaa. Kinda wanted to see if it was any good. It spends probably almost 10 minutes per member, which is why it's so long (since there are 9 members). Basquiat, Is one of my fav songs of pentagon, and its not because for the incredible dance and highnotes. And facial expresions. Its for the meaning of this song. Pentagon with this song SAY to the World that they wanna be themselfs, even with the people wanna see this or that stuff by them. They wanna be them, they wanna make music that they like to make, they dont wanna change their style for the opinions or the critics by the public in general. They wanna stay like pentagon and thats is the most beautiful meaning about this song. And that is one of the reason I stan pentagon. Basquiat was the song Hui, Wooseok and Nathan (same team that made Daisy and Do or Not) made for RTK and the quotes at the beginning and the end are actually by Basquiat (the artist). They had them in the background at the end of their performance on RTK too. Basically the whole song is a big f u to RTK and the song where they free themselves from what the public wants and fully embrace being who they want to be :) Actually the song "You Like" from their WE:TH album talks about that struggle again and it's one crazy song! Btw Basquiat was an african-american artist, who always went against the norm, fought against racism and whose famous symbol was a crown. Hui seems to get inspired by art quite often as Like This was also inspired by a painting or photograph of a person, that fell from a skateboard and had a bleeding knee. You missed quite a few songs between Runaway and Dr.Bebe: Shine, Naughty Boy, Sha la la and Humph (when you watch it think about how this is the cb before Dr.Bebe!) and their Japanese releases: Cosmo, Happiness There are also MV's for their bsides Violet and When I was in Love Special Videos: Genius (such an important song!) and of course there are a million other great things that happened in between, like their diss tracks: Round 1 & Round 2 (R2 has a dance practice, R1 only live performances; lyrics are important for these!)

Dr. Bebe is really that song. I know this might sound a little weird but I often enjoy when artists can pull off acting insane. Pentagon's acting is on a whole other level. Especially Kino. That guy can truly pull off the not all there look. Every Road to Kingdom group produced a new song for their final performance and I'm pretty sure M-Net had something to do with the music video/performance videos for each track. It was not an official comeback just something for RTK. I could be wrong though on some of that. Also I think you have a couple tracks left with Dawn and then some without him between Runaway and Dr. Bebe. Also my boy Yanan was not there for Dr. Bebe so imagining him in that concept would have been interesting. I'm not sure if he would have pulled off the insanity look as well as some of the others did.
