Well it's been two years hopefully by now he changed out the bearings and fixed the air leak.

You have a suction side leak in the pipe coming into your pump or a seal from your union. The water is very turbulent and leads to cavitation and poor priming. The more laminar the incoming stream of water the more quiet. Hope that helps

new pool owner what does that mean?

Whiser Flos are normally quiet. I suspect a restriction in the suction or motor bearings.

First thing I see is too much air flowing. Indicates a leak most likely in the 3-Way. Turn diverter to center or one side or the other to see if the noise changes. After fixing that and smooth flow if it does not quiet down (these are quiet pumps that you should not be under 50 db at 20 feet away - Meaning your neighbors should barely hear it.) then bearings. The motor has been replaced at some point already in my opinion just looking at it.

That motor has bad bearings that need replaced

You showed this while the water was still being pulled in to the pump. The turbulence is normal during that phase. The other comments might have an impact, but that motor has bad bearings and/or brushes. It should never sound anything like that, even running dry. Needs a new motor IMHO.
