A video on Mio's thoughts on her own performance is already subtitled if you'd like to look for it, so I went and subbed other people talking about Mio instead. I was pretty invested in Mio's run, so I wanted to translate the after thoughts too. Expand for translator's notes. 0:06 - Kind of a whatever thing to mention, but I also learned about that shortcut from watching Mio. Seeing some responses on twitter, it seems a lot of people actually didn't know about the shortcut there until they saw Mio do it. 0:08 - Mio actually mentioned these were the exact type of shortcuts she was learning how to do. The fact that she helped Okayu and several others learn about it too is just something I think is really neat. Ice Ice Outpost is a stage that are often less familiar with because it's not a legacy stage, and was DLC late into the original MK8's lifespan. 0:45 - Was a real sad moment when Mio dc'd. I don't know if there were a lot of reactions to it though, so knowing Okayu was watching and cheering her on the whole time is something I was happy to learn about. It seems like something you'd expect to be a given, but Mio doesn't typically practice Mario Kart with other members, so I wasn't sure if that'd be actually end up being the case. For the record, very few other racers in C Block actually noticed Mio disconnecting. Polka noticed immediately after the race ended and was pretty taken aback from learning Mio dc'd, and was happy when she was able to rejoin for the last race. Noel only noticed midway through Moo Moo Meadows, but didn't know it was Mio that dc'd. Calliope didn't notice until the very end, and was bummed out about it after she learned someone disconnected. Everyone else was too focused on the races. Of course, Towa and A-Chan noticed since they were live commentating the block. Towa had a moment where she worried that Mio might be really sad after disconnecting, but A-Chan reassured Towa that "Mio was tougher than that." When Mio won the Losers Cup, Towa was relieved to see that Mio was still in good spirits. 1:00 - Okayu actually told Mio this herself. Up until Okayu said that to her, Mio didn't really have any faith in herself that she could make Winners. When she disconnected, Mio didn't think "I could have made winners if not for this." She just kept racing. But when Mio was told by this year's champion herself that she had it in her to make it, she teared up. Mio pretty much always practiced alone or just with viewers, and she didn't watch anyone's practice streams outside of Okayu's, so she had no way to measure herself against anyone else. She had no idea how good she was compared to others, so finding out she actually came a long way to the point where she was a contender for winners brought her to tears. 2:23 - Okayu's literal words are probably closer to "let's make sure you're somewhere where your connection is strong." Mio's had connection issues with where she lives for the past year or so, and it's caused her live2D to sometimes not properly read her movements at times (especially if she doesn't wire her phone directly through ethernet). However, I didn't want people to think that Mio was going to move for sure, as Mio has a lot of stuff in her home and may end up not moving for that reason. 2:27 - I opted not to translate "poi" here because it was such a short moment in the stream, and it'd be a pain to cut out or forcibly translate into something like "toss" or "yeet" or whatever. Okayu throwing a bomb behind her should be reminiscent of Botan tossing grenades while saying "poi" anyway, so in this case, I'm just gonna hope my audience is aware enough. And if not, oh well, it's not that important to the video. 2:52 - Towa's original words were "ぶっちぎりだったよ," and ぶっちぎり (bucchigiri) means to win by a large margin in a race by being way ahead. There are plenty of ways you can translate this into English, but I went with "left everyone eating (her) dust," as that's a common way to say something similar in races. 3:09 - I actually am not really too familiar with the reason why, but Towa seems to really like Mio in general. During the Christmas Karaoke Relay, Towa even left a huge message just for Mio, and is the only member in all of hololive who has attempted to sing Mio's original song, "Howling," as of this video upload date (though she ended up forgetting the lyrics by the end and just screamed out Mio's name). Mio tends to get along well with Towa too, though, and thinks she's really funny. 3:42 - I took some liberties with this line, as more literally, it's something like "she felt bad for putting her viewers through that, and ended up like the experience was more negative for her than positive." However, keeping it literal would be way too verbose and hard to read, so I rephrased it as Mio feeling like she wasted people's time, as it captures the same idea and retains Mio's negativity regarding the first hololive Mario Kart tournament. 4:00 - Mio in general has these kind of insecurities about a lot of things. She openly has said on stream that the reason she doesn't play some popular games like Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl on stream is because she feels like there isn't much reason to watch her when there are so many others playing it. To top it off, it's not like Mio doesn't like those games, she does. She bought Pokemon and even appeared on Fubuki's stream once to give her a Shiny Clefairy. Mio even said she's going to buy Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but isn't sure if she'll actually stream it for the same reason as BDSP. Mio has talked about how she's happy that people even bother to go watch her during hours where it feels like everyone is streaming (some people call these DD hours), and that while many people compliment her singing, she doesn't have a lot of confidence in herself. 4:08 - It's easy to forget since it isn't at all the case anymore, but when the first press release for hololive gamers came out, they were meant to be like a VTuber eSports team. The Gamers Logo was there to represent their team. Of course, that was quickly scrapped, and "Gamers" wasn't supposed to mean hardcore gamers who were the best of the best, but people who just really loved playing video games. Nonetheless, whenever anyone in Gamers does well, there are often Japanese responses that say さすがゲーマーズ! (That's the hololive Gamers for ya!). While there's no ill intent behind those words, it definitely reminds you that people have an image that the members of hololive gamers are "supposed to be good at games." 4:45 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnzUf5qYhbWJoqc is the stream Mio is talking about. And yeah, there were some fun groups here, like "Fake Bakatare" where it was Watame, Flare, and Mio (instead of Fubuki). 5:02 - For anyone wondering why I went with "freaking good," it's 'cause Towa says くそ上手くなった. "Kuso" will usually make any speech sound rougher, but I wasn't sure if I should just go ahead and make Towa swear, so I went with "freaking" instead. "Damn good" would also suffice here imo. 5:09 - The part where Towa says "her connection sucked" is actually a word joke that Mio also makes. "Zako" tends to mean stuff like, "Weakling" and whatnot, and it was the name of the Losers Cup too. So Mio and Towa often said "the only zako (weak) thing was my/your connection." 5:16 - Incidentally, there were a few people on reddit who were upset about Mio being in Losers Cup because she was too good for it lol. They were upset because it meant that their favorite couldn't win instead. But for those of us who were cheering Mio on (like Towa), it gave Mio a much needed opportunity to race more and show that her practice had paid off. 5:43 - Okayu has loved this aspect of Fubuki and Mio for a loooong time now. I think the first time I heard her talk about it was during the MiOkayu collab where this exact topic came up. But yeah, the fact that Fubuki and Mio address each other without honorifics is a sign of closeness in Japanese culture. If you do that with someone who hasn't really "opened their heart to you," it's actually seen as rude, depending on the person. There are actually very few people in hololive who refer to each other without any honorifics. Even Okayu and Korone use nicknames ("Ogayu" and "Korosan" respectively). That's not to say FubuMio get along better or anything (calling each other nicknames is affectionate/close in lots of cultures), just that they're rather unique in that regard. For the record, Fubuki and Mio recently said that "while OkaKoro is more hyperactive, FubuMio is much more laid back. Kind of like a middle-aged couple." Amusingly enough, a lot of fans thing of Okayu and Korone as a middle-aged couple too. 6:11 - Other pairings that Okayu likes: SubaLuna and AkuShio. She's told Subaru to her face that she reads SubaLuna manga, and she's said how she likes that Aqua and Shion have a kind of loli feel to their pairing.

Mio did really great in the race, it's such a shame she had those connection problems during the race, a lot of people were sad/frustrated that she did. Though Mio took it like a champ and continued to race and even won the Zako Cup which was really nice Also glad to see just how supportive Mio was to not just Okayu but everyone who was racing as well, and vise versa for Okayu and Towa, this year's tourney was really fun and looking forward to see what happens next year! Thanks for the TL as always

It’s really nice to see other Holomem perspectives, and that they felt pretty similarly to everyone rooting for Mion! I hope next year will be better. Thank you for the TL! Towa’s strong fondness for Mio is always fun to see.

It's so wholesome to see other members rooting for each other. I'm so glad Mio didn't give into the thought of not being able to do well and did her best regardless, it really did pay off even though connection just had to intervene. But in the end, I'm glad she enjoyed and I was happy for all of them

It's really a shame that Mio lost connection in the middle of the race, she really could've made it to the finals. But I'm glad that she didn't get too disheartened and went full force in the last prelim race and got 2nd. It wasn't enough to get her out of the zako cup but she showed that she was too good for it, outscoring everyone else in every other set of races (even Suisei who got 74 in Team B prelims). Hopefully her connection will behave next year and we'll see her finally make it into the finals

Even though she isn't as hardcore as the others, Mio is part of GAMERS after all. All are them are pretty strong in Mario Kart. Fubuki is probably the best racer overall, but has long since mellowed out and doesn't hardcore grind MK8 anymore like she used too. Mio had a real good chance at making the winners bracket. She was lowkey smurfing in the Zako Cup because she essentially only had 1 match counted worth of points.

Korone is definitely not what I'd call strong in Mario Kart... Though she definitely seems to have the most fun when playing.

It was really sad that Mio got disconnected, seeing how well she was doing and how well she did afterwards, but this just shows that next year's competition is going to be even harder. And its easy to forget that Okayu and Korone only joined gamers almost 8 months after Mio...
