THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've seen the cylinder diagram, but my Jeep Cherokee's engine is mounted sideways (transverse?) and I did not know which corner was actually number #1. The oil filter reference solved my confusion. After I swapped out my oil filter cooler (which was leaking like crazy), I started intermittently getting code P0203. I knew my issue was one of the middle cylinders, but didn't know which. Most likely, I do not think I did not re-seat the fuel injection wiring plug properly before putting on the upper intake manifold. Now I can focus on the correct cylinder. Again, much appreciated for your clear explanation!

Did it end up being the plug needing to be seated after all? I swapped my cooler and am intermittently getting the P0203 code as well.

@@brandong2142 The good news: YES. That bad news: I had to take off the upper intake manifold yet again. Haha. But all is well now and I have check and no more oil leaks and no engine codes are being thrown.

One more thing, I had to keep clearing the code several times for it to go away after the re-seat. Maybe it is my old cheap code reader, or maybe it's the way Jeep stores the codes. I do not know.

Is firing order and piston position the same thing? I’ve already replaced the wrong plug and coil one time. Hoping not to have multiple attempts at this

I can’t figure out which one is #2 on my 2017 jeep grand cherokee 3.6L. Supposedly it’s the same as your diagram but I changed the coil pack and spark plug on#2 but it’s still misfiring

It’s possible it’s not an ignition misfire , misfires can be cause by mechanical engine issues , fuel related problems , air leaks and so on

So is the even bank the left or right cylinder head.

It would be the left cylinder head , engines are always left or right as if your in the drivers seat or looking at from the rear of engine

so basically for a ram, cylinder 6 would be at the top left corner and cylinder 1 would be at the bottom right corner of the engine.

1 would be at the front passenger side nearest the belt assembly and 6 would be at the driver side nearest the fire wall if it was a ram 3.6
