I honestly almost got tears in my eyes at so many of these songs. Like I forgot half of them even existed, but the minute I heard them it just transported me back to my childhood 😂. Btw, Julka, I've been meaning to ask, just because I really love your reactions to Pentatonix, have you ever seen BTS? Because I got into them last year and I'm honestly so shocked at what I've been missing. Like not just with their music, but they're honestly such amazing people. They kind of remind me of Pentatonix in that sense. I don't even mean to ask for a reaction, because I know you don't really do anything else but PTX, but just on your own time if you want. They sort of got me through last year along with Pentatonix, so I'm now completely down the rabbit hole 😂.

Those songs remind me of my childhood and I'm so, so happy they did this medley 🥺❤️ About BTS - the whole mega fandom thing kinda scares me haha and I don't really like Korean music tbh BUT I think I can give them a try. Which song do you recommend me to listen to?
@msmichellewinchester3 жыл бұрын
@@julkaz_mh6900 I get that ARMYs can seem scary 😂. I was honestly a little scared too at first, but the community is actually really awesome for the most part. As for which song I would recommend... that's tricky, because they have a lot of different genres that they cover. They're kind of a genre of their own. For me, personally, the song that got me was Magic Shop, but it doesn't have an MV. Maybe Life Goes On? It's a title track from their latest album that was about 2020 and the life in pandemic and this song is just really calming to me. Definitely put on the captions if you watch it. BTS are pretty well known for their lyricism. Other than that Black Swan is an amazing, artistic video. And if you're in the mood for something more poppy, light and fun, then Boy With Luv or Dynamite, but I think the last two are more like what you might have meant be the typical Korean music? Those two are some of their most popular songs, but not really very telling of what kind of music they usually do. Sorry, I'll stop 😂. I could honestly name half their discography. I don't actually like most kpop groups I've heard, but I honestly understand now why BTS have such a large fandom.

@@msmichellewinchester Thank you so much! The lyrics stuff - that's also something that keeps me from trying them out, I'm a big lyric girl, I love knowing what the song is about and singing correctly hahaha 😂
@msmichellewinchester3 жыл бұрын
@@julkaz_mh6900 Yeah, I get that. They have English hooks usually, but I will admit, I personally had to commit to at least learning the lyrics for some of the choruses, because I needed to sing along. Probably butchering the language in the process, but no one hears me, so... 😂

I noticed you picked up on the autotune when they sang “Believe.” It was a nod to the original. From what I understand, Cher was the first to use autotune in a stylistic way. Good reaction. And family comes first! Don’t apologize if you need to take a break. 👍🏽❤️

Oooh see, I didn't know that! Super cool 😱 it sounds SO GOOD! Thanks 😊
@TheUserid823 жыл бұрын
Auto tune at that point was part of the recording equipment and in use for the intended use of getting near notes to perfect notes. Cher was the first to go after the near maxed settings as that was the sound she wanted and had been trying to get with different distortion effects. It is a tech that was invented by a retired oil engineer that was mad his home studio was giving bad recordings so turned to his old jobs skill set to invent a program that could correct the recordings after the fact. He licensed the tech to one company and soon lost control of it as everyone else cloned it so it soon became part of all newer recording equipment.

This was one of the most fun videos they've ever done. Starting with the all-original The Lucky Ones album, they are now doing more studio audio tricks in their recordings. This is by design as they are changing their style and growing as artists. I had my best clubbing days and was on my best "game" in the 90s, so this was a major flashback for me! I even met the woman I would marry clubbing in early 1992 (sadly, she passed away in 2010, but we had almost 19 years together). My best wishes to your father, hope he gets well soon.

Actually, I think it's more 90's Vocoder than it is what we think of as Autotune. Cher used it all the time, but especially in Believe. They use an echo effect as well, which simulates the songs of 90s.

You might want to listen to a 18 year old Russian singer. Diana Ankudinova is 15 years old in this video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons because her speaking was severely limited due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. It's a safe prediction that you'll have goosebumps and say that's the most unique voice you've ever heard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZvZXneHo8tli7s

The 'synth' aspect did come in this time didn't it? I have thought they used a synthesizer in some other songs. Most of those turned out to be them actually. But this time it was pretty obvious.

I don't mind though! It was a bow to the originals and it came out great. They used some synth in 12 days of Christmas too, I believe
@larrywt6563 жыл бұрын
It's not a synthesizer, it's just their voices EQ'd to sound like a synthesizer. There are still no musical instruments of any type in this recording.

I think the auto tune must be an homage to either Cher in particular or '90's music in general. They're way too obvious about it for it to be an accident. And if it is, then fine, let them use auto tune. They've got nothing left to prove. We all know how great they are.
