@tamarasmith90602 жыл бұрын
And with all this there is still much more to learn about what they each do in the group, depending on the song. For instance Avi does overtones, a fabulous trick few can do. Kevin also does other sound effects outside of those typical for a beatboxer, like water drops, a trumpet, & a flugelhorn (similar to a saxophone). Mitch can imitate a violin & also electric guitar. On the guitar it's so close with just his voice alone that you easily recognize what it is meant to be, but when you add reverb with a mic it becomes another moment when you go "I can't believe that's not an instrument!" Want a little soul or blues effect? That's Scott's specialty. Those are just a few examples.

Loved the reaction, so few get deep enough to realize what they just watched / heard is deeper that what a casual critique can adequately cover. Suggestions....I believe Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy won them a Grammy as they did an entire vocal presentation of the 100% instrumental in the Nutcracker. Also, Mary Did You Know done in a cave and about 300 million views, The Sounds of Silence, Amazing Grace is the only one that completely turns Kirstie loose (seat belts required), Gold lets you see them all sitting and every movement of each, and then the Prayer defies description. Welcome to the a cappella Wabbit Hole....Oh, one final note is that Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie have been together since either high school or longer. Avi and Kevin were added so they had enough members to compete on the national competition Sing Off which they won. If you look at their first performance on the Sing Off here you get a good run down on their history.

This is my favorite Pentatonix song! At some point, please check out more on Avi. He has a new album coming out soon, but there are two of his previously released songs that are "must hears". One is called "Change on the Rise" and the other is titled "Otherside". They are a completely different sound than Pentatonix, as they line up more with Avi's folksy background! With that said, one of the most impressive things he does is he can sing overtones. That means he can sing two notes at once! One is deeper note while the other is a Mariah Carey-like whistle tone! You can find live videos on KZbin of him singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with overtones! Anyways, thanks for always doing these reactions the right way. You guys are quickly becoming some of my favorite Pentatonix reactors. Love all the research and thought you put into it. Keep it up! You truly can’t go wrong with anything from them :)

I love how they do all the production effects like dubstepping with just their voices.

People might forget this but Kevin was pre-med at Yale and left when recruited for the group. I read he was a lead cellist for the Yale Symphony Orchestra and has appeared on stage at Carnegie Hall playing both piano and alto saxophone. Very talented indeed!

Thanks again for a great reaction! Pentatonix didn’t even record this in a studio, they did in a closet in an apartment! I read/heard somewhere though that the editing of the video took quite some time.😅

Please watch Kevin Olusola’s cover of the song Down. Only then will you believe any and everything you hear coming from him. Seriously.

If you liked the synth feel of this medley, you MUST hear the 90's Dance Medley next. With Matt.

Oh, and their cover of Gold will knock your socks off. It's recorded live, just sitting on a couch.

My son and I listen to this song almost everyday! "Love Again" is another favorite of ours. "Aha! Singapore" is a live verson that will utterly blow you away! Just discovered you guys and glad you're highlighting Pentatonix!

ok Bohemian Rhapsody next , it's bloody amazing x

When you're ready, meaning a couple of Pentatonix songs under your belt, you have to listen to Star Vista Singapore (also known as Where is Kevin ? 😊) (the answer being he's putting aways his cello).
@MysteriousMag32 жыл бұрын
Gotta recommend their Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. A piece without vocals done by a group without instruments which also won them a Grammy.

Love ur reactions! It’s so fun for us Pentaholics to discover people discovering their magic. Yes, it is a gift + A LOT OF HARD WORK. They really grind, especially knowing what happened after they won the Sing Off but then got dropped by Sony (part of winning was to get a record contract). They put in thousands of hours of practice and posted to KZbin, that era is affectionately known as the “couch years” because they were mostly sitting on a couch with the “meat & potatoes” (Avi & Kevin) on the floor in front all around one mic 😎

Oh please do Bohemian Rhapsody!

Please listen to their 90s Dance medley. Also, they have several medleys. All of them are great! And please give Kevin some love. He is amazing!

I really like how you guys looked up Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger first since you weren't completely familiar with Daft Punk. It makes you appreciate the medley THAT much more lol. This is my favorite PTX song, no questions, hands down, thanks for playing.

They started as a group on the "Sing-Off" on NBC. You should do at least the 1st episode to get a little history of their beginning. Also, do Popspring 2016 to hear them do 3 of their original music.

If you wanna see them in studio you can watch Pentatoix Recording of Evergreen their newest album

You guys are the best Pentatonix reactors I've ever seen on KZbin. I love how you guys allows us to walk with you guys on the learning process by showing it on video instead of doing it off camera like every reactor do.

If you want to hear Kevin doing amazing drums, you should listen to their Bohemian Rhapsody. They are unbelievably good as a group and as individuals. I hope you react to more PTX. I also love Imagine. But don’t neglect their original music like “Sing”, “Can’t Sleep Love” and “Anchor” are some of my favorites.
@karehelene2 жыл бұрын
PTX has so many good songs. Can't Hold Us, Blinding Lights, The Prayer (talk about blowing your mind!!). I could mention more, but hopefully people are telling you their version of IMAGINE is a much watch. I love your reactions. I appreciate your shared research and that while you are obviously impressed at the same time you are low key rather than frenetic like some reviewers can be.

Love watching your ptx reactions!! Bring on more!!! Bohemian Rhapsody is great!

You guys haven't even heard how high Mitch's voice goes. To hear how high he can sing, listen to them sing "Aha" live in Singapore. Mitch sings a solo through the whole song and his high range will leave you speechless

You were buried under the AVI-lanche 😜 I'd recommend their cover of "can't hold us" macklemore and Ryan Lewis. It's another side of the incredible talent they all have.

Really enjoy your in depth reactions! I really think you guys would have a blast with 90s Dance Music Medley. Note: They do use auto tune in that video but it is done as an homage.

From what I remember, they made this themselves in a closet in their apartment. Edited and made entirely by them on. $4-500 budget.

So many songs to react to! Bohemian Rhapsody, Gold, The Prayer, 90's Dance Medley, The Sound of Silence, Can't Hold Us, New Rules x Are You That Somebody? Or try one of their Evolution of videos. Or just check their channel and pick a song you already like. By the way, I like how you read about the artists you are reacting to.

Once you move into the years when Matt is the new bass, my favorites are Come Along (an obscure song I’d never heard of), 90’s Dance Melody, and Butter x Dynamite (a BTS mashup!) All of these are super fun! If you want to see a song with Avi when they were still babies, try the Evolution of Michael Jackson
