Poor Avi - didn't tolerate those contacts well. What a tooper! And, I understand that this was recorded in the closet and filmed in the kitchen of Avi and Kevin's apartment. @DownundaThunda3 жыл бұрын
You can tell Avi's eyes are really bloodshot, and that was because his contact lenses were irritating his eyes. But, what's incredible, is even through the discomfort he was feeling, he kept to the theme of not blinking. If you notice, at no point throughout the video, none of them blinked even once. There were a couple of times when they did close their eyes for a second while they sang, but it wasn't an unintentional blink. A bit of a fun fact for this, that's why Kevin was wearing those shades. He didn't want to keep his eyes open the whole time, as he had to focus on beatboxing, so he wore shades to obscure his eyes.
@marykuettner7523 жыл бұрын
A lot of reactors miss Kirstin's "All around the World" because Avi's Television and Kevin's beat boxing are so amazing and happening at the same time. I usually watch each member in turn to see what they are doing. Kirstin, Mitch and Scott have been singing together since high school and they do amazing harmonies with each other. There is a live version they did without mikes in a greenroom somewhere. It blows your mind how close it is to this. The starts and stops are all them not production.

As a metal head for decades I have to say Pentatonix are just phenomenal and this Daft Punk medley is absolutely amazing and it STILL blows me out of the water whenever I check out this video. It's also interesting that I also like many Daft Punk tunes and I know a ton of rock/metal musicians that are into Daft Punk as well while sharing my disdain for umph-umph-umph dance music. The same goes for many rock/metal musician friends (I'm a guitarist and song writer in a metal band as well as jumping in when a band needs a second guitarist for live performances and small tours). Daft Punk had a unique style that was universal, blending many different styles and wrote many melodic songs that pulled in non-dance music people.

Great reaction! I enjoyed your appreciation of everyone's qualities and the ingenuity of the arrangement. One friendly detail FYI: the word you want for a mashup of tunes is "medley" (med-lee, 2 syllables), which is different from "melody." And don't worry about kerrstin vs. keerstin -- it doesn't matter that much as long as you get "I" before "R", which you do.

There's an interview where they're asked "If you could trade voices with one member of the group, who would you choose?" Kirstin, Scott, Kevin, and Avi all said "Mitch." Mitch was astonished that *Avi* envied his voice, because Mitch's answer was "Avi." Mitch has a range of just over six octaves. Even considering how high he can go that's still a pretty impressive lower range, but he doesn't seem to be comfortable using his lower range. It's there, and he *does* use it, but I think it doesn't come as easily for him as his highest register. And it is a thing of wonder to him (as it is to most of us) that Avi can sing so low. And it's a thing of wonder to Avi (as it is to most of us) that Mitch can sing so high. Even other members of Pentatonix are baffled by the magic that their teammates create. Hello from Texas! Just watched a few of your reactions and I really like your style, your knowledge and your overall vibe, so have Subscribed today. Just wanted to point out a quick correction in regards to the description of the song. It’s a med-ly (a composition of parts of several different songs, i.e. mash-up) vs mel-o-dy (a succession of single notes strung together to make a pleasing sound… so ALL songs have a melody). It’s entirely possible that you just glanced at the word and thought it was melody, which is used more often than medley, but if not I just wanted to help you out so that you don’t make the mistake again, like so many of the other reactors on KZbin, because trust me you are not the only one that has called this a melody. At 9:20 you mentioned somethign like "even Scott is amazing". Please, listen to the song once, twice, three times ... and listen very carefully. You will notice his huge support through the entire song. You'll see that Scott is not "even" amazing, he is simply a genius. Try to listen to him, only. Especially in the last part of this medley where they mixed more than one song together, he leaves you open-mouthed. Anyway, in each and every song there is not about the soloist or solos - there is about the vocals and rhythm support, singing in the background, complementarity and "to do together". They all are geniuses. Avi or Matt, the other four ... always simply fantastic. Once again, thanks for your really nice PTX reactions.
