If you want live, then search for 'Gold' which is just them sat down with mics. Mitch ( the guy in the red suit) does things with his voice that are usually done with effects. Any of their 'Evolution' videos are one take recordings, and their Michael Jackson one is amazing. There's also the BIG fan favourite, 'Aha' live in Singapore at The Star Vista'. This one was recorded on a fan's phone, so the audio isn't perfect, and Avi (the original bass of the group who left in 2017 and was replaced by Matt) actually blew the speakers, which distorts the audio even more. BUT. Despite ALL of this, it's mind blowing. 😀

I think you would really appreciate their cover of Kiiara's "Gold." Mitch pulls off some vocal gymnastics that Kiiara needed digital help to create, and Avi delivers a couple of bass drops that are positively subterranean. It's a laid back, one-take wonder.

@WedrownyGrajek Жыл бұрын
It's worth mentioning that singing live in an "open field" (meaning not in a closed venue) is extra demanding and challenging, for the sound technicians as well as the vocalists themselves, as the acoustics are completely different. Pentatonix are simply masters of vocals and elevating emotions, everything they do they turn into music gold. Happy you enjoyed them as much as every Pentaholic does. 😊

Concert, you say??! Well, their 2016 PopSpring performance in Japan is amazing!!! They perform a few of their originals from their first album of original music too. The only issue with Pentatonix and live performances is that you have to make sure that the balance in the microphones is good and that it's captured by the audio in the camera. There are tons of good live performances though. All of the "Evolution" videos are live too. These can show you why they're the kings and queen of the musical transition!!

If you blokes would like to react to a truly stunning live performance of Pentatonix please check out their 2015 American music awards performance of the Star Wars medley. They are introduced by Harrison Ford and are backed by a full Symphony orchestra. They absolutely hold their own. This performance was good but it was disappointing that they had a drum Corps backing them. Kevin, The beat boxer is very good in a live performance. He may have been a bit under the weather that day. The same guy who hit the high note is Mitch Grassi. He has a countertenor. The tall blonde is Scott Hoying and he is a tenor/baritone and can fill in for the Bass singer (Matt Sallee) When he is singing a melody. Last but certainly not least is Kirsten Maldonado who is a mezzo soprano. Mitch actually has a greater vocal range than Kirsten, But she can certainly hold her own.

If you want to see Mitch Grassi at his finest….The Prayer. He sings Celine Dion’s part! Can’t overlook the video that has to date 721M views and started thousands of PTX fans down their rabbit hole. Christmas is approaching and they have an extensive playbook of Christmas songs.
@thomasbriggs56923 жыл бұрын
I have seen a couple of your reviews of PTX (Pentatonix) and I get the impression you are looking for the altering and auto tuning of their preformation. I have seen reviewers do this before they realize what you hear in the videos is what you hear live. I have seen PTX live and the sound is very true with the limitation of the location. I saw them at a fairground and it was still very good. PTX has the best collection of 4 singers and very talented beat boxer who play cello and sings some (saxophone too.) I am a 69 year old classic rock fan and love Image Dragons. I found PTX Hallelujah video in 2017 and fell down the PTX rabbit hole. The NBC network "The Sing Off" 2011 videos are online and you can see their start and growth. The Kirstie, Scott, and Mitch sing together in high school doing choir and musical theater. Avi was added at the sing off and Kevin joined the day before the audition. The trio all were 19 years old when the won.
