Thanks to S & G for writing and recording this classic over 50 years ago, allowing Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret the meaning.......a warning against an increasingly detached, unfeeling, cold society.......maybe more relevant today than in the 1960's.....

I'm enjoying your Pentatonix journey. They have so many great songs, both covers and originals. Another great cover of Sound Of Silence is Forestella's. They are a South Korean crossover male quartet who are also known, justifiably, as The Kings Of Harmony. Many reactors have thought they are acapella, like Pentatonix, but they only have four singers and no beat boxer. Like Pentatonix they have brilliant voices and equally good arrangements.

Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Havana, The Grinch, Can't Hold Us, Can you Feel the Love Tonight (The Lion King song), The Prayer and Amazing Grace are all so spectacular. Pentatonix is the Gold Standard of A Cappella. No one does it better than PTX.

Great reaction! The word is tha S&G's original was a warning, Disturbed's cover was angry that the warning hadn't been heeded, and Pentatonix was about hope that the warning would be heeded. Looking forward to more PTX reactions like: Imagine ( cover of John Lennon's famous song), Bohemian Rhapsody Queen's cover), Run To You, ( original), Daft Punk medley, Love Again ( original) Mad World ( Tears For Fears cover).

Have you heard Pentatonix song Amazing Grace? If you liked Hallelujah, you’ll love it. Also checkout someone named Marcelito Pomoy singing “The Prayer”, the live on the radio version. It will be one of the best and surprising ones you’ve ever seen.

The best version comparison I've heard goes like this: Simon and Garfunkel warned us. Disturbed is angry that we didn't heed the warning. And Pentatonix says that it isn't too late - we can still save the planet if we're willing to make the effort. Is Pentatonix right? I don't know. But I'm CERTAIN that if we just give up we lose, so I'm with Pentatonix on this one. If they're wrong and it's already too late, at least we'll go down fighting for our planet, and that beats the heck out of the only other option I see, writing an angry suicide note.
